Exactly, while wet they get massive short circuits which can ruin things by sending too much power to the wrong place. Though I think if you like soak it, the water can actually eat away at the circuit panels. Also if it gets into the chips you're pretty screwed. I've always found that smacking something just hard enough to jiggle the innards tends to make it work. Dunno why but it works. (Messes up moving parts sometimes though; my computer crashed from it once. ) Of course with Nintendo products that's a pretty damn hard smack. Interesting thing about the CD player, it wasn't actually very damaged despite being literally half-full of water. Like I picked it up and I could hear it sloshing around inside. The water had shorted out the buttons, so it was actually playing when I found it, seemed to work just fine. Of course after that soaking the buttons didn't work right, so it would rarely turn on and if it did they wouldn't do the right things. Eventually it got to a really weird state where it would turn on, but then turn off a second later, but if I held the batteries in tight it would run for a good 20 minutes or so. |

You know the well Kagome jumps into in Inuyasha? I found another one just like it! So I hopped in and lo and behold, it even goes to the same place! So then I dug the whole thing out and drove an old car in. Inuyasha is just DYING to know how it works! Now I know you all think I'm lying/spamming/just plain nuts, so here's photographic proof. ...And no, I'm not telling you where the well is. Or how I got that car all the way from Alberta to Ontario, for the few who actually read my blog. Can't have a bunch of morons going back and ruining time. [edit] The blog moved. Stick a question mark on the end. If it still doesn't work just copy and paste into a new window/tab and do that. Works for me. (And that was one of the best scenes EVER. ) And I dunno what Davis is talking about, but that's just how he looks. You've got to keep in mind that the cartoon/video game world is an alternate reality to our own, with different physics and looks. (Low gravity is fun!) As for the background, he accidentally drove back through the well. He's not very good at it. (But then, for someone having never dreamt of a car before, what do you expect?) And you can do whatever you want to the dude. Sesshomaru's got that Tenseiga after all. (edited by HyperHacker on 12-12-04 06:42 PM) |

I need to grab one specific line out of a text file into a variable. Like just grab line 4 or whatever. Is there a function for that? I know how to read a line using fgets(), just not how to specify which one.

Thank, but I actually managed to get it using file() to grab it into an array. Now the next step, some kinda database. Also how do I do string replacements (like replace all instances of 'foo' with 'bar')? (edited by HyperHacker on 12-12-04 11:04 PM) (edited by HyperHacker on 12-12-04 11:08 PM) |

Anarchy could be fun for a few minutes, but having to defend yourself 24/7 from being robbed, raped, killed etc would get to suck REALLY fast.

Come ON. I've had some crazy suspensions before (3 days for swearing, and once for fighting off school property, after school hours) but this is just too fucked up to believe. (edited by HyperHacker on 12-12-04 11:58 PM) |

True, but it's a bit hard to use. You pretty much have to know at least part of the function name you want. Their search doesn't limit to the current language, so even searching from the English page I get results in french - easily fixable (change '\fr' to '\en'), but annoying.Originally posted by labmaster That's like "foo*b?r" would match "foo bar", "football bar", "foo bor" etc right? I'll research a bit later but I've got to go to school in 25 minutes. (I shouldn't even be up this early, but I just woke up for whatever reason, figured no point in trying to go back to sleep.) Also, it's probably gonna be a long time before I do anything database-related, but I'll need to know for when I do: If I take user input and store it in a database, then display it later, what all ways could they screw things up? Anything, like accidentally crash the script, hide Javascript code in it for unsuspecting viewers, inject PHP/SQL code, etc. I intend to filter all but a few HTML tags. (I recall seeing an HTML-filtering function, very nice! This stuff's cool once you get to learn the functions. ) |

I'll look into that, but this isn't exactly a cheap stereo. It shouldn't be degrading the sound quality too much. (Though come to think of it, maybe I should replace that one cable, it's probably rather old.)

There still are a few hidden threads. I know of one that only one other person, besides myself, has found. (Although it's really boring as a result, because nobody ever posts there. ) And Davis is kinda right, but I think a lot of people would have clicked anyway. Whenever I see a big link like that I generally hover over it to see what it is, and when it leads to a thread on the board, people are gonna click to see what all the hubbub's about. |
