My hex editor of choice is Hex Workshop, which can be found here. Just make sure that you have found got a serial number once it stops working.

lags_80: I've got some plans regarding the choose file thingie. There will most likely be a decent file selector in the big project I'm working on right now.

Keikonium: I was THIS close to adding it, before I remembered that I still haven't rewritten the 4bpp loading routines. That routine was a pain in the butt last time. Remember kids: Backing up source code in case your hard drive blows up IS a good thing.

I rewrote the 4bpp routine yesterday, and it was waaaaay easier than I thought. I have no idea what kind of messy mumbo jumbo method I used before.

My current routine loads 128 tiles in 10 millisecs and draws all of them them in 5.

It's tile based when it comes to tiles and sprite based when it comes to sprites.

Don't forget that (most) sprites turns around if it collides with another sprite. Also, don't forget Mario to sprite collision.

All those addresses can be found in the default Lemetaal data file. By the way... I'm pretty sure that the "Boss castle destruction sequence music #2" byte is wrong.

Another solution is to overwrite an existing animation's graphics, as long as you're 100% sure that you won't use it.

It's possible to edit the SMB For Super Players levels. Rename "smbdx.stp" into something else and rename "smbfsp.stp" into "smbdx.stp". If you want to edit the normal levels again, change the file names back.
