When I'm done (let's hope that the files can be saved) with what I'm working on (A Mario tile editor), I'll probably make one of the following things:

SMWAE (SMW Adjustable Editor)An INI file contains a menu system. Through those menus, stuff in the ROM can be edited. Hard to describe.
SMWYLE (SMW Yoshi Layout Editor)Not sure at all. Haven't even thought about searching for data.
SMWSC (SMW Sprite Colorizer)If I find enough data about the hardcoded(?) enemy palettes, I might make this Sprite Paint ripoff.
SMWBPE (SMW Battle Platform Editor)An ILBPE ripoff. It really needs an update.
SMWEASM (SMW Easy ASM)A programming language that I've been working on. It's been frozen for quite some time, though, mostly due to a lack of (enough) ASM knowledge... It's designed to make it easier to make custom blocks for Block Tool.

YY-Chr allows importing BMP files.
It's Paste Snapshot in the File menu.

Both stories will have to be completed; you'll need to activate the switch palaces to open the red and green bridges for each other. Cool, eh?

Would you mind GETTING THE F*CK OUT OF MY BRAIN?! Seriously... I've thought of something similar... A one player game where you choose to play as Mario or Luigi at the start. Then, depending on which one you choose, you play different levels. Also, the two of them will meet a few times during the game, helping eachother somehow. Kinda like Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, but where both of them are good instead of three good and three bad ones...

Accually, I may make that (but modify it a bit so that isn't too much like yours). I've got a great idea, you see... Choose between playing as good (Mario) or bad (Shadow Mario from SMS).

My opinion in the Level Design vs. Graphics vs. ASM:

All of them are important.

Level Design is the most important thing. Good level design equals fun to play. Period.

Graphics is also important. This adds next to nothing to the fun to play value. However, a hack with good graphics makes more people interested, meaning that more people will play it. I mean... If you're posting a few screen shots with ugly graphics, next to nobody will be interested, since it's hard to judge the level design.

ASM is pretty important. It makes people more interested, like with graphics. The best thing about ASM is that it allows you to do what SMW normally wouldn't let you to. Also, a bunch of nice ASM hacks makes the hack (mostly) more original.

I never thought about the Course Clear! text... If my computer survives (those repair guys sure are slow!) I'll try to find that text. (I'd be suprised if the MARIO thing above it would be too far away.)

I demand the copyright of making hacking programs which are only useable on SMW. Not counting LM because it r0x0rz.

Soooo... If you want to make a SMW hacking program, either make one that works for more than one game or ask Fu for the LM source and modify it.

.......what?

Right. I found a strange, but (next to) harmless bug in LM.
Keep in mind that it won't always work on the first try.

Open LM (the level editor) and go to Layer 1 mode. Make sure that you've scrolled all the way to the very left edge of the level. Open the add objects window. Choose an object. Now, move the mouse to the area between the add objects window and the left edge of the screen (this is only tested with LM maximized). Click and hold the right mouse button, but at the same time as you press, move the mouse quickly to the left edge of the screen. (If it doesn't work at once, choose another block in the Add Objects window and then choose the one you want again.) If you're lucky (or unlucky, depending on from which point of view), the block will be moved to X co-ordinate -1, meaning that the first 16 pixels will be outside the level. As soon as you drop the block, it will instantly move to Layer 2. Now, the block can't move to a positive X co-ordinate. The "next to" thing on the first row of this posts is the fact that blocks only one block wide will be stuck without any chance of deleting it. The only way to get rid of it is to reload the level without saving.

Last minute addition: Make sure that the level uses Layer 2. If it have got a background, the block seems to pop out of existance.

The fun part about this is that I found it when I was annoyed that there were no way to make bushes start outside the level.

Edit: It seems like it haven't got negative co-ordinates after all... It seems like it's moved to the very right side of the level, and directly after the very right edge is the very left side of the Layer 2 data... This explains a lot.

Here's another bug, related to custom animations. Choosing "Three 8x8s: line" animates four tiles.
