Sorry, but that won't work. The blocks will always turn into the same block, no matter if you have another block that acts like it or not.

If course the FAQ can't cover up every single question. Heck, I could write thirty pages of questions and answers, but it would be too much job and it would be harder to find a certain question in it. I might some day write more about overworld editing and some other stuff, but since there aren't any too common questions (in my opinion) any more, I probably won't.

Have anyone found a way to remove Mario's ability to slide down slopes? I was making some DKC3 like pseudo 3D effects where you "move along the Z axis" using slopes. However, as you can understand, the sliding became a problem.

That's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Anyway... Here's how to do it. Open paint, write something in the mario font, save as a bmp, import it to YY-CHR or something and move the neccesary tiles to empty spots in the title screen GFX file.

I doubt that half blocks is possible without ASM hacks... Or maybe some messy stuff that compares Mario's X/Y with the block's own.

In order to edit the MAP16, choose an empty block, click on "Edit 16x16 attributes". In the 4 boxes, input the 4 8x8 tiles the block uses. Now, click OK and use the right mouse button to place it on an empty spot. Remember to press F9 to save.

Aha. I understand the problem. You can't just do like that. You have to use those MAP16 tiles as "Jigzaws" [sp?] and piece together a background of it.

Wouldn't Custom Blocks require ASM (Answer is yes)
Anyway, I was asking if someone would program those kind of Blocks for me (since it would require ASM to make them).

Maybe I wasn't too detailed.
Yes, custom blocks are ASM hacks, but what I meant to say was extra ASM hacks that changes how the blocks' code are executed and stuff. Custom Blocks would not be enough (as far as I know) to make half blocks.
...Come to think of it... They managed to do slopes... Maybe half blocks are possible...

First of all, do you know if it's the hack or the rom itself that's buggy? Maybe you got a bad dump. If this problem happens in the original rom as well, here's something that might work:
1) Make an IPS of the hack with the bad rom as the original file
2) Download a new rom and make sure that it works
3) Patch the IPS to the new rom
4) Check if it works now

Because there is (as far as I know) no built in ability to execute different codes depending on where it's touched. (I'm talking on where it's touched, not from which direction.)
