I've been a die-hard Mario fan for ten years now, and I'm not changin' my ways anytime soon.

I've gotta choose Mario, he's my all-time, most favorite fantasy character. There's just something about him that strikes me as utterly cool. However, the only game thus far that has truly captured the way I think Mario SHOULD be is Super Smash Bros. Melee, my fav GCN game of all time. (Though I haven't played it in months.)

However, in recent months, I've actually begun to LIKE Luigi, as well! O_o And it's cool, because now I actually like both Bros. for who they are. Luigi's just great because he's so odd and quirky. He always seems to get the shaft, but he keeps goin' with it. That takes guts.

Mario + Luigi: Superstar Saga has helped to make me realize just how great a team the bros. are.

And it's NOT called Super Mario Bros. because Mario's the leader. It's because that's their last name, for whatever reason. Hopefully you knew that already, but who knows...?

Yea, that does sound like fun. P-Wing, baby, P-Wing. But I do liek Kuribo's Shoe, as well as the Hammer Suit.

Sheez, but I've seen the racoon suit and Fireflower mastered. I've seen Bowser taken out in mere seconds with a Fireflower. GAWD, that guy was sick...O_o

I myself am a die-hard, hardcore Mario fan.

I love the good ol' days of Mario, but I've got to admit, the RPG's rock severely.

Question is...Which one do you think is the best game of the three?

I personally think all three make a good set of games, and I like each one for different aspects.

The original was made by Squaresoft and had a feel to it that the other two never had.

Paper Mario had a more interactive battle system (Love badge points), more storyline elements, and was in general a very good game, I think.

Superstar Saga is packed with humor, has upbeat tunes, spiffy sounds, and excellent graphics, as well as an awesome battle system. But something was just missing from it that other two lacked.

Out of them all, I personally like Paper Mario the best. I fell in love with the characters and formed a lot of my fiction from its generalized storyline. The Honorable Star Spirits sort of jumped out of nowhere, but they open a whole new world to the imagination as far as writing fiction goes. Out of the three, it's inspired me the most.

All righty, here...

Now, I'm pretty sure this is where we post our fiction, is it not?

Right then.

Without further ado (?), I'll begin here...And this time, I'm not going through the time to explain everything, either.

If people liek it, I'll keep posting it up.

HERE'S A NOTE, PEOPLE!!

If this fic kinda actually goes somewhere on this board but then fades away, you can find my fiction at

http://www.fanfiction.net/profile.php?userid=337633

Yep. Here we go. By the way, bare in mind that although this starts off as a 'Yoshi' fic, it soon becomes MUCH more.

Preface: Listen up. I don't own the SSBM characters, or many of the other characters in this fic. I will let you know at the end of a chapter which characters are owned by who when someone new is introduced. I just want to let you all know that this fic will mislead you- the plot, as you will see, is much more than a Yoshi on a simple quest.

I would also like to say that I greatly appreciate all and any reviews or comments. I'm trying to get better writing skills. Another note about ratings- although the rating is PG-13, some chapters aren't bad at all; while others are pretty violent, so keep a lookout. I will warn you that there will be blood and lots of violence in some chapters, and a warning to you all- there will be swearing in many cases. Much of this will be edited, but some will not.

Now, enjoy.

Part 1: The War Begins!

Prologue- The Portals of Time Open...

Destiny. Fate. What will your future possess? Will the choices you make today affect you ten, twenty years from now? When did time all begin? Did a God create everything? Was there once nothing? Nothing? How could there be nothing? (Sorry, I digress.)

What does Fate have planned for you? Will Destiny decide your entire life? You might be thinking, "NO! I run my own life!" But can you be positively sure? Perhaps Fate bases itself on your choices. You have some say in the matter. If you make a right choice, you continue the way you were, maybe better. Wrong choice, you're halted. Barred down.

Perhaps now it is difficult to grasp the mighty Fate in our hands and figure it all out. It's hard to find our answers, from deep within he turning cogs of time (Chrono Cross can have an influence on you!), but what we do know is that we exist in our world. That's it. We know nothing more. We can't even be entirely sure that this really IS a world. Perhaps it is only the fictious imagination of someone else... We only choose to believe what a book says. We have no proof. We only choose to believe what a scientist says. You can't always believe something. It doesn't matter. Anything is possible.

What if everything you see is more than what you see-the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something happens that shouldn't? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really IS a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things.

Sound familiar? Shigeru Miyamoto once said that, it's on the back of your Game Cube box. Really!

Which brings us to our story. It begins with a dinosaur named Yoshi and his quest to save his friends and a valuable treasure, but it soon becomes much more.......

Now, to understand the present, we'll have to investigate the past.

It all started a long while back, when two twin brothers named Mario and Luigi Mario were being delivered to their home in the Mushroom Kingdom by a stork (Don't ask, the people who made Yoshi's Island did it that way).

Anyway, while the stork was flying, a Magikoopa swooped through the air and tried to steal them. Fortunately, he only swiped Luigi, while baby Mario fell downward landing safely on a green Yoshi's back on an Island inhabited by many Yoshies. (Sounds like more than just coincidence, doesn't it?) The green Yoshi found a map with the baby and decided to tell his friends back at his home village.

Meanwhile.....On the island of the Koopa Kingdom a little ways off from this particular isle, the Kidnapper of Luigi, named Kamek, thought of what to do next. Kamek was a mean and nasty Magikoopa who longed for revenge, but back then, little was understood as to WHY...He had predicted that these two babies would befall the Koopa Kingdom one day, and cause misery to Bowser, the Koopa Prince whom he was the Guardian of after the tikes parents were killed. Bowser's parents were killed in a war long ago between two forces...

(Don't worry, you'll find out about that later.)

Bowser's parents had demanded Kamek to watch out for the baby and see to it he became a noble King like his father. Kamek had to find the other baby, and he'd try to revert the both of them to evil ways. So, he ordered his Toadie troops to find the baby and capture it.

(Toadies are weird little red guys with goggles and propellers on their heads. Don't get them confused with Toads.)

So, as the green Yoshi returned, his friends were baffled as to why a baby fell from the sky. It seemed to want to go somewhere, so they carried it across the island using a relay system. And finally, the green Yoshi had to fight the Koopa brat named Bowser, and after an exciting duel, the baby was reunited with its twin and the two were delivered to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Kamek, however, wouldn't give up so easily. He snuck to the Kingdom and destroyed it with a powerful spell. A spell called the 'Ultimate Kamekrusher'... Mr. and Mrs. Mario were killed defending their children, some say, but to this day it's a mystery quite exactly what happened to them. All that's known is a Toad named Augustus III saw Kamek coming and while the twin's parents distracted him, the Toad quickly saved the babies and brought them to your world to stay safe from Kamek's grasp. So, they grew up, slowly, surely, and merrily. But they couldn't escape the path Fate had chosen for them........

The two babies grew up and became quite good at jumping through the trees they played in. They eventually were drawn back to their homeland, just as Fate would have it. But, while they were still growing up.....

Kamek was furious! He had to construct another plan to get revenge on those Yoshies. But trying to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom had weakened him (By the way, they recovered from that quite well.) and he needed to regain his strength.

The green Yoshi that had saved the two twins in the end was honored as a hero and was appointed king. You see, the old Yoshi leader had fought in that war as well, (the one Bowser's parents were killed in) and had disappeared in duty. The new king found himself a green queen and had an egg (With a baby in it, of course!) and placed it in a nest with a few other eggs of different colors. It isn't known exactly WHY the eggs were all placed in one nest, although Yoshies are known to do this. Rumor has it that some mystical figure spoke to them in a dream, but one can't be sure. The name of this new Yoshi King was King Raptalcon.

Kamek and Baby Bowser weren't getting along too well. Kamek was so busy plotting revenge; the poor tike was practically raised by Toadies and was becoming a bit of a brat. Kamek pressed on, though. He cooked up a spell. Turn Yoshi's Island into a storybook and steal a tree called the Super Happy Tree, which gave off fruit that made the depressed overjoyed when eaten. So, he did, and the loss of the tree made all the Yoshies go into a great depression. But those eggs....they were ready to hatch. And they did. A red, a pink, that green, a blue, a purple, and a yellow.

They knew something was wrong (Yoshies have high IQ's for being just born) and decided to stop the threat. So, they traveled through the island and saved the tree. Along the way, they found a black egg and a white egg, which had been stolen from that nest. The eggs hatched shortly after. Sooooooooooo.....

The king and queen were quite proud of their son, and named him Yoshi. Why? That's like naming a dog Dog, isn't it? Well, as it turned out, he was to be the perfect example of a Yoshi and would one day help lead an army to save it all....Yoshi's Island, the Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, Kongo Island, Dreamland, Kanto/Johto, I mean everything...

Yoshi, along with all those other Yoshies-are now 16 years old. While they were maturing, the royal family advisor, a white fly-guy named Alex, had found a large egg. A beautiful egg. An egg with a shell of solid, seemingly unbreakable gold. It had dark golden spots all over its glimmering surface. It's said the marvel was found in a cave carved in the foot of one of Yoshi's Island's four main mountains. The four mountains that ruled over all, their cold, tall, icy peaks to watch over the island like kings.

The egg was brought to the castle of Raptalcon, the assigned monarch, and Yoshi's father. He placed it in a room to its own, a nice, neat little room at the end of a hallway for decoration. The egg's surface was quite hard, the dinos noticed. It didn't seem to do much of anything as far as magic was concerned, but Raptalcon was suspicious. It seemed quite special, indeed, to serve no purpose. The egg remained as a piece of eye candy for a long time, until the night the old mage coot Kamek paid a little visit....

Kamek had grown even more detached from his stepson, and the Koopa grew up to be a very vicious and greedy king. He had kicked Kamek down to the basements of his extensive castle, and for those years, little was known of him. He'd been the one who had created clones of Bowser's younger self (The Baby Bowsers you see in the Mario Party games, for example.) and had helped Bowser out here and there, but the two stayed separate socially. But recently, Kamek had been listening to his resources well. The Yoshies had a big, gold egg in their possession, and he wanted it. Badly. He devised a plan to breach the castle's defenses and steal the egg. Then, he could find out just what it did. And hopefully, it could give him the magical boost he needed for his future plans to start...

Chapter 1- Midnight Bandit

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a clear, frigid night as the Magikoopa whizzed through the twilight air. It was quite a cold night, indeed, the air almost freezing his nose as it soared past his pudgy face. The ominous moon was near full off in the sky, and it was large behind him in vast the dark blue. The sky was cloudless and serene. He hadn't been on a good flight for ages. But this night, he had a purpose. He knew that the Gold Egg had to do something, and he wanted it badly.
"Nothing like a midnight flight..." he muttered to himself, relaxed.
Over the scenic island he flew, and he cackled when he thought of what he'd do to Raptalcon and his family when he stole that egg. The pure look of fear and surprise on their faces. His mind was averted to his current situation as he leaned his broom down to land behind a shop in the main square of the village. He carefully hid his broom behind an old box among many leaned up on the building's side, stocked with fruit, weapons, armor, and medicine.
A sly, merry grin spread across him as his wand was drawn from its place beneath his sky blue cloak. He had been able to recover some magical attributes over the years he had studied while trapped in the castle's underside, and although he knew many spells, they never seemed to work, oddly enough.
Maybe he was getting too old? No. He immediately dismissed the thought. He needed a better source of magic than an ancient piece of Star Stone. The mystical powers of this rock could be immense, but this particular one was old and worn, like the Magikoopa who wielded it.
He knew that the Gold Egg had to have magical potential. Lots. He could feel it. Magic knows magic, and he could feel the power tingle within him at the mere thought of the treasure.
So, quietly, he slowly peered over the walls of the store to see two guards clad in gear standing before the main gates, their eyes stone cold, with almost no tiredness in them. That would change soon enough.
He had brought a few things to help him out, of course. And, like always, Kamek had a backup plan should they fail. So, he carefully scooped out something from a pocket within his massive cloak, each pocket concealing something new and potentially dangerous.
When his hand came back out to the chilly night air, it was grasping a tube. A tube that looked similar to that of one of toothpaste. On it were the words, 'Repel Gel.' Silently, he unscrewed the plastic cap and squeezed an application's worth of the clear gel into his scaly palm.
As it was lathered upon only his hands, the gel started to take full effect, making his whole body and clothes gain the attribute of a ghost- invisible and transparent.
After a couple of seconds of getting used to this transformation, Kamek started to silently slink toward the main gate of the minor castle that was before him. The piercing eyes of the Yoshi guards flew through him, and Kamek felt confident that this was going to work.
They were two rough, surly males. One purple, and one black. They both had equipped a shield and sword. The shield was of a classic shape, with a giant Yoshi egg painted on its front. The sword was a nice, sharp blade that glinted in the moon and had a red handle.
Kamek slipped out his invisible wand from beneath a similarly transparent garment as he noticed the noses of the two gruffly guards starting to pick up an odd odor in the night air.
Catching the guards by surprise, he called out, "Hypnotic Dust!!"
As these words were called, a cloud of thick, black powder floated outward from the wand's tip, and as it gracefully drifted to the ground, so did the two Yoshies, sound asleep.
Snickering with a humor not awaken for what felt like ages, the Magikoopa gleefully swung open the giant red doors, their squeaking surprisingly soft for being so big. "Stupid dinosaurs..." he muttered to himself, still finding the two guards amusing.
The dark interiors of the castle greeted him next, and he smiled. So neat, so tidy. The red carpet that led down the large room to the next, the paintings all aligned along the walls. The floors: immaculate tiles with all kinds of inscriptions upon them. The air clean and fresh.
It had been a long while since last he had visited here...
But what he was here for now was much more important. So he sneaked through the halls, and darted through the doors. Using his Hypnotic Dust here and there, he was granted easy access to the hallway where they rested- the king, the queen, and their child.
This darkened hallway was slightly lit by the open windows on its left side. The floor had another nice, neat carpet along it, with gold trimming. To his right, about ten feet forward, was a door. A door that led to the prince's bedroom. The door was open at the moment, and some dim light eradiated from it.
Kamek sighed deeply. Yoshi always had to stay up late to play his accursed video games, didn't he? That meddling brat would be taught a lesson soon enough. But Kamek couldn't dare attack now. It was useless, he knew.
The King and Queen could overpower him easily in this weaker state he was in. Besides, he couldn't use his magic to kill those too pure of heart. Not yet, at least. But with time...he would gain power. If he had enough dark power, it could counter attack the positive energies of those he despised.
Yess....
And then those three....They would be gone. And he could win in a heartbeat against the whole of Yoshi's Island. Those three, chosen by Fate to one day protect their kind....
Yoshi...
Fireball...
Tarts...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The names he had loathed with a passion since their births sixteen years before. He had kept track of them with his magic over the years, and he knew they were weak now, but if he waited too long to challenge them...

They could ruin everything. Which was why the plan had to be perfect. And it nearly was...

And step one was about to take place.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door to Yoshi's bedroom slowly peered open, and a green head poked out to glance down the dark, moonlit hallways with wonder. A knot balled up in his stomach, but he saw nothing odd, nor heard anything. His nose couldn't pick up the scent of anything out of the ordinary.
A sweet, soft voice called to him in a near whisper.
"Yoshi..?" What's wrong?" The concern of the tone brought the creature's attention back to his room.
"Uh..." he hesitated a moment, "...Nothin'. I just...thought there was somebody out in the hallway," he replied with an edge of weariness in his words as he slowly closed the red door and returned to the comfort of his room. Perhaps he had been staying up too late these past few nights?
"Yea, right," a sarcastic voice answered. "You're just stalling time because I'M kickin' your can at Smash Brothers Melee!!" the dialogue accused.
"That's not it!" Yoshi protested back.
His red friend nodded with a roll of the eyes. This red Yoshi's name was Fireball.
"Yeaa...." he said slyly, continuing his sarcasm.
That same voice that had been sweet and soft just moments before boiled a bit at her red friend.
"Would you shut up already, Fireball?" she growled irritably.
She was Tarts, Yoshi's other best friend. She was a cute pink Yoshi admired for her beauty by many a guy at school, and sought after for her feisty temper and sweet compassion.
Fireball smugly added, "And you're saying THAT because I'm kickin' your Ice Climber @$$!"
The environment of the room was warm and inviting. Posters were hung upon the dark red walls, with images of legends known far and wide. An elfish Hyrulian swordsman with a green cap...A galactic bounty hunter who adorned a metallic suit of armor...A muscular monkey with a red tie with the letters 'DK' printed on it...A stern, strong willed fox with a laser blaster in hand...And a sort of pudgy man with a thick black mustache and a red hat known all over the young dinosaur's world.
There were plastic figures topping the shelves, which jutted out of the wall, and other various knicks and knacks.
Two big beds lay on opposite sides of the room, adjacent to the door, while straight ahead of the entrance was a wide, open space with a TV leaned up against the wall.
One bed was for guests, and one was for the prince himself. Both blankets were covered with egg patterns of all colors.
And right now, it was the middle of the night, and the three good friends were playing a game of Melee on the television. As Yoshi slid in place on the soft carpet between his buddies, he grabbed his Gamecube controller tightly and returned to the game. It felt good to battle his friends without literally being hurt.
The match upon the set was that between Yoshi, playing as himself, Tarts, playing as the Ice Climbers, and Fireball, playing as Mario. Fireball was in the lead by two stock, while his fellows both had one.
"I just have this weird feeling in my stomach..." Yoshi moaned, his gut in slight pain.
Tarts stopped concentrating a moment and nodded to him in a agreement.
"Yea, I know. Me too. But...I guess maybe I'm just hungry..." she muttered.
Her lack of attention gave her away to her friend Fireball, who slammed her Ice Climbers away from the Hyrule Temple stage with a firey Smash Attack.
Yoshi, as well, was sent spiraling downward from Mario's Meteor Smash just seconds later as a result of his weariness.
"This game's winner is....MARIO!" a deep voice announced.
"HA!" Fireball smirked.
Tarts argued bitterly, "If we were playing Mario Kart 64, I'd SO beat you!"
Fireball nodded he was expecting that to come up.
"This ain't Mario Kart, girl. That's prissy stuff," he told her coolly.
She frowned hardly.
"What do you mean 'prissy'? What's THAT supposed to mean? Are you saying I'm a wimp?!" she demanded, almost standing up.
"Hm! It's not SUPPOSED to mean anything! It's fact! You ARE a wimp!" he laughed back.
Yoshi slapped his controller down to the carpet with a roll of the eyes.
Yep. Perfect timing...
"Guys..." he moaned amidst their quarrel.
They ignored him, so he repeated louder and clearer.
When they stopped, he informed them in an annoyed voice, "It's two in the morning! My parents said we could stay up if we were QUIET..."
The two blinked embarrassingly for a moment, until Fireball spat out immaturely, "Well, she started it."
Tarts had a look of disbelief on her face.
"What are YOU talking about?"
With a deep sigh, Yoshi retreated to his bed and sat there a moment. He noticed a framed picture on his black nightstand, and scooped it up in his green palms. It was a picture taken weeks ago, of him and ten of his good Yoshi friends. His face let out a warm smile while his two buddies spat insults at each other.
His friends. If only they didn't act so much like babies sometimes...
But he knew he could always count on them...They would always be there...Until that very night...Then, THEY would be counting on HIM...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kamek was a little shaky after Yoshi had peered out to see what was wrong, but he was still invisible, so he remained undetected. It was a good thing he had sprayed himself with some strawberry perfume before he had entered...A good Yoshi nose could've picked him out easily.

But now that the runt had returned to his room, the magician could slip down the hall further. If he was caught, the King and Queen Yoshi could easily take him out. He wasn't strong enough just yet to wage battles with those pure-hearted- they could definitely defeat him in a wink right now. That's what the Golden Egg was for...

If his assumptions were correct, the Gold Egg contained massive amounts of magical power, but there was only one way to find out- by breaking it open.

Breaking it open had proved to be difficult for those dinos, but how hard could it be for a Magikoopa with plenty of years under his cloak?

As he silently sneaked by the royal bedroom, its door gleaming and golden, he drew near, and the hall gradually lit up with a dim golden light. He was coming close...

Finally, he reached a small, round room, about ten feet in diameter. In the center rested a black marble podium with a bowl top. In that 'bowl' sat a Yoshi egg, its surface glittering like the sun.

It was about two feet tall, and was light gold all over. Its various splotches were dark gold in color, and the whole surface was perfectly smooth after being polished every day for such a long period of time.

With the grin of a little child, the scaly hands of the old coot snatched up that which he sought quite eagerly. He almost collapsed under its weight- his arms weren't what they used to be, and this egg was quite heavy.

And so, he toted it to the nearby window, simply a wide gap in the stone walls. When one lived in the tropics, closed windows were barely necessary. However, this night was indeed a more chilly one than Yoshi's Island normally experienced. He peeked out into the night, the many buildings of the town looking back up at him in horror. He cleared his throat and hesitated a moment.

Then, he went for it. Lifted his fingers to his mouth, he let out a shrill whistle. Within a couple of seconds, his trusty broom came whizzing to his side, and he was worried for a moment that it would crash into the walls.

After its stop, he hastily hopped on carefully, making sure not to drop his new treasure. He instantly scooped out his wand, its sleek metallic handle glinting in the moonlight.

With a short wave, the egg levitated from his hands and hovered loyally at his side, and thus the three of them took to the skies, as Kamek pondered a way to open it.

With a shout and a wave of the wand, a blast of fire energy collided with the Gold Eggshell, but it barely did anything at all, leaving behind an unscathed Egg.

With a grunt, he had to think some more. Perhaps if he used a strong enough combination...

As he muttered names of spells, his wand began to glow more and more. Slowly it built up more and more power, until his trembling arm lifted it high enough to blast out the barrage of magic.

With a loud cry, an explosion rocked the air, sending out a pulse of unstableness. The many bright colors of light from the magical attack bombarded the Golden Eggshell, and this time, it worked like a charm. Shards of Gold rained down upon the island below him. He was extremely high up, and the pieces sparkled down upon Yoshi's Island gracefully, each piece going out in a different direction.

With a toothy grin, Kamek laughed at what met his eyes next...

OK, here's another of my works in progress. Hehe. For all you Teen Titans addicts like myself, here ya go.

By the by, this fic ties in with my main story, 'Quest for Destiny!', so a lot of things might not make sense, and a lot of things won't be explained by fic's end.

If, by some miracle, you love my work and want to see more of it if this thread goes sour...

There ya go.

Now, on to the writing, shall we...?

---**---

The Q4D! Saga...

Winds of Fate: Teen Titans: The X Factor

Prologue- Wind's Whispers

The city was deep and relaxed, in its prime time. The glowing rays of the sun had just fled from the navy skies, and small traces of them remained, stretching out their fingers to the residents of the city.

The day had been a calm and peaceful one, and for the Titans, that was good and plenty. Not a speck of villainy was to be spotted all day, despite their patrols. And so, they rested on a triangular rooftoop, starving to eat their long-awaited dinner.

The air was rather warm and inviting, the summer zephyrs pleasant to the touch. A nice, long breeze flew by, and a slightly tan-skinned girl with deep red hair smiled as she felt it pass over her. She had eyes that glowed with emotion, and had a dainty-looking form. She sat patiently, her arms folded in her lap neatly. She was being relatively quiet, abosorbing in the atmosphere.

However, she was quickly broken out of her evening dream as bitter voices began to puncture her thoughts.

"NO! Listen, man, I WILL NOT eat meat!!" came a kind of high and defensive tone.

"Come ON, B, just this once?!" a deep, smooth voice spoke back.

The owner of the first voice was standing up, his hands on the table, his face beginning to fume a bit. He was a little unique in comparison to other people, for he was green. His eyes were very expressive and wild. He was Beastboy, a marvel with the power to transform into creatures at will. Very flexible in combat situations.

"No is NO, Cyborg! You KNOW there's no point, so give it up, man!" he grumbled to the broad person who sat to his left on the circular, red table.

In physical appearence, he was a machine, but at heart, he was human. Composed of metal, plastic, wires, ciruitry, skin, and flesh, he was an odd sight. But a formidible foe, for sure. He had a spirit as tough as the steel that plated his head. And his eyes...One was a glowing red light, the other a sharp human one. Any flesh that was shown on him was of a brown color. He was Cyborg.

"Oh, PLEASE! Every damn time we order pizza, I never get my meat! I need my protein! Why do you keep denying me the "All Meat Experience"?! Come on, I'll pay for my own, just lemme me eat some red stuff, for Superman's sake!"

He was getting a little worked up, and it showed as one of his super-strength arms pounded into the table, shaking it a little more than was neccessary. His face got nervous immediately, and he scanned around in shock, hoping he hadn't drawn too much attention.

A calm and relaxed tone came from Cyborb's left, and it's owner had an exhausted look about him.

"Guys...Can't we just order? It's really not that hard a task..." He let out a deep sigh and slumped over in his seat, resting his head in his arms, which were folded across the plastic table.

The red-haired girl cleared her throat and proposed timidly, "I am eager to experiment upon our pizza with some mint frosting..."

Beastboy and Cyborg, who had just began to bicker a bit more stared at her dully, and BB muttered, as if this was routine, "Star...Mint frosting ISN'T a topping on pizza...Remember...?"

Starfire, an alien being with super natural powers, let out a disappointed sigh and murmured politely, "I understand your view, Beastboy, but I do not understand...Is there a law somewhere that states that mint frosting is not permitted to be placed on pizza...?"

Beastboy gave her the most puzzled look any of them had shown all day, and he couldn't come up with an answer.

"Uh..." He blinked a few times in confusion, and the leader of their little band came in to settle the matter. His eyes were cloaked by a black mask of sorts, which only covered them, so they appeared as white spaces on his face. He had messy, black hair, and a tight outfit of red and green, with a yellow belt and cape to finish it off. He was Robin, the leader of the Titans.

"OK, listen...Starfire...MOST people don't eat...minty...stuff...on their pizza...Then again, most people don't drink MUSTARD..." he paused a moment to reflect. "But ya know what, Star? You're not normal. Psh," he chuckled warmly, "NONE of us are normal, let's face it!"

A few laughes came out from the bunch, except one. She had remained still and silent for the past while, not even moving. She sat in her seat, her eyes closed, her hands stretched out in a meditative pose. She had dark and depressing eyes and shining, silver hair which ran down to her shoulders. Those eyes were almost expressionless at the time, which was what she was trying to acheive. She was Raven, by far the most mysterious of the group.

Out of nowhere, it seemed, she suddenly burst out a comment. It was monotone and dim, but a comment, nonetheless. Her voice also had a slight bit of raspyness to it. Just barely.

"...Why don't we just order and get out of here...?"

Starfire let out a sigh and answered, "I apologize for the inconvenience, friends. I was merely making a suggestion."

"No, no, no, wait," Robin spat out, waving his arms around. "Ya know what, guys? How long has it been since STARFIRE got to choose the pizza?"

There was utter silence as the others stared in dismay, almost knowing what was about to happen.

"We're supposed to be a team, and teams are fair, right?"

...

Robin cleared his throat, uncomfortable from the lack of communication. Starfire, meanwhile, was staring at him expectantly.

"Right...So, I say we let Star pick tonight." He coughed out a bit as he finished by saying, "Mint frosting it is..."

There were no objections, at least not any verbal ones, and the long-haired girl was delighted.

"Oh, Robin, I thank you dearly! Thank you, friends, for joining me in my curiosity!"

"No prob," Cyborg murmured dully.

"You bet," Beastboy muttered, his eyes wandering.

"Mm hm," Raven hummed, as plain as ever.

Robin sucked in a deep breath, laid back in his seat and mumbled, "See? Now, was that so hard...?"

*<------>*

A set of shining, solid teeth sliced apart the odd food viciously, and the tongue that rested within the mouth seemed pleased. His partially mechanic arm reached out for another piece of this strange delight, his mouth watering for more.

"Man!" he cried, shaking his head in astonishment. "This is pretty GOOD!"

"Really," Beastboy agreed, his voice muffled from the sea-green plastered pizza in his jaws.

Raven's narrow eyes were glaring at the unique food in dismay, and she seemed to be pondering whether or not to try any. If she didn't QUICK, it was all going to be gone.

"Not hungry, Raven?" Robin muttered, noticing her statue state.

She didn't reply, nor did she acknowledge his existence- but Robin was used to that, and let her continue.

Starfire's gleeful eyes sparkled with happiness as she let her jaws dive into her third slice of 'Pizza a la Mint'.

"Whoa, Star," Beastboy chuckled, having just completed his first piece. "Don't wanna choke on that..."

Starfire began to attempt to speak, but realized that her mouth was full- a rude gesture, if her memories on American Culture were correct. It was hard, trying to remember all of their odd customs. But Starfire had an excellent memory, and was motivated just by the chance to learn something new.

After having gulped the food hastily, she let out a few coughs, her hands slapping her face to stop any material from flying around.

Beastboy almost jumped out of his seat, but before anyone got worried, Starfire cleared her throat and murmured, "Sorry," her face beet red.

With a nervous laugh, BB sat back down, sighing of relief.

"See?" he muttered, shaking his head. "I'll admit, though, Star, this is wicked stuff..."

The green monster rubbed his gloved hands together and grabbed his second slice eagerly, while Cyborg was working on his third, not bothering to pay any heed to those around him.

Raven finally decided to wait until they got home to eat, and began to meditate once again.

Starfire stared at the creation before her in thought, then her eyes lit up. She raised up her hand and waved it a bit, trying to catch some attention from the people wandering around the tables in uniform.

"May I request the presence of a 'waiter'?" she asked loudly, excited.

One responded, and came rushing over to their round, red eating surface.

He was kind of short for his age, and a medium build. About seventeen, from the looks of it. His legs were strong and firm, and his arms were almost equally so. His smile was inviting, and he adorned a white sweatshirt and slightly baggy blue jeans. White rubber gloves were on his hands, meant to prevent any of his skin from getting on food. A black baseball cap with the words, 'Pie in the Sky' printed in crimson red on its surface rested on his mess of light brown hair. The same logo was also on his white shirt. He almost had sideburns, and slight traces of black hairs were visible under his nose. His nose, in fact, was kind of round and slightly large. He spoke out to them in a casual tone.

"What can I do for ya, Miss?"

Starfire blushed at him, feeling slightly odd inside at first, but she dismissed the feeling as best she could and made her request.

"Dear serviceman, may you deliver a bottle of...-" She had to think a minute to remember the word for it. "-mustard...please?"

The teen worker paused, quickly surveyed the food upon the table in perplexment, but shrugged and nodded.

"Uh...Sure, Miss...Comin' right up. Just gimme a sec, okey dokey?"

Starfire nodded, smiling at the waiter warmly. "Many thanks, Sir..." she murmured, trying to pry her eyes away from his own. There was something about them...They glimmered with mystery and spirit, almost like the stars themselves. When Starfire stared into them, she felt a surge of emotion flood into her. It was strange to her, indeed. The other Titans didn't seem to notice all too much- they were too busy scarfing down mint pizza.

Starfire watched the young man walk off toward the counter near the roof's edge, and she noticed that in his big back pocket there was nestled another hat. A bright red one.

She then realized in dismay that the pizza was almost gone, and reached out to snatch a last to herself, placing it on her plate gingerly.

"Who's that guy?" Robin muttered, staring at the waiter curiously. "Haven't seen him around..."

Starfire paused, unsure herself.

"Must be new here," Beastboy suggested with a shrug, a piece of baked dough covered in green cream in his grip.

"Yea," Robin mumbled with a shrug. They came to this place frequently, and new faces didn't appear all too often.

Starfire waited patiently, not even looking at her pizza. Her eyes were up in the air as she pondered who this person was. For some reason, he struck her as a very unqiue person. Different from everyone else there. It was quite puzzling to her...

Her thoughts were popped like a bubble when a yellow tube with a sharp, pointed top was placed before her, and that odd boy gave her a grin.

"There ya go!" he declared. "Have a nice night, guys..."

"Will do," BB cried as the figure began to walk away, leaving Starfire feeling a bit shaken by his sudden presence.

Beastboy's eyes glanced over at Starfire, who, no pun intended, looked starstruck. He let out a chuckled and poked out playfully at his red-headed friend.

"My, he was nice." Starfire's shimmering eyes met his for a moment. They were narrow and sly, as he raised his brows up and down in a joking manner.

"Um..." She did not quite know how to take this gesture, and decided to pass it off.

Raven was too busy muttering to herself in deep thought, Cyborg was too busy engulfing mint pizza with his jaws, and Robin was too deeply lost in the atmosphere of the evening- so none of them noticed Starfire gleefully squeezing mustard onto her already...unique pizza.

Beastboy stared at her like she was insane, realized she was STARFIRE, and proceeded to eat his own pizza without a second thought.

Starfire scrambled to get a sufficient amount of the yellow stuff on her food, and she lifted it to her lips and opened the 'hatch doors.' However, just before it arrived on her tongue, a sound shattered their dinner.

It was a scream. A female one, coming from about a hundred yards in front of her, and about ten stories down. The pizza slipped out of her hands and plopped on her plate in surprise. Why now, of all times?

Robin jumped like a bolt of lightning and cried out, "Titans...Moof!!" There was still some pizza leftover in his mouth.

One by one, they all snapped into action, bounding away to fight the crime that dared to intrude on their evening. Starfire lagged behind by a second or two as she swallowed her piece in two bites and soared off like a bird.

The teen who had served them a minute ago spun around in alarm, sensing that someone was in danger. His eyes shimmered with seriousness, and he reached up his arm to remove the brand-name cap from his head.

It slapped against the cement floor gentley, and the boy tore the white gloves from his hands, letting them land softly next to the hat. He ripped off his white sweatshirt to reveal a crimsom red tee shirt. Now that the white shirt was gone, you could see that his blue denim jeans were in reality overalls, and two straps loosely hung over his shoulders, golden, shining buttons holding them in place.

He began to pound his black-sneakered feet against the stone beneath him, and he reached out into his huge back pocket to pull out that bright red hat. He shook it a bit, trying to unfold it, and he placed it on his head roughly, fastening it a little as he reached the building's edge.

His cap was completely red, except for a spot on his forehead- a white semi-circle rested there, and printed in this space was a big, almost glowing red 'M'.

"Time to get down to business," he muttered to himself as he tossed his body off the building nimbly, soaring down to the chaotic streets below.

Well, well. Time to put up my thrid fic-in-progress, eh?

Yea, yea, maybe I'm over doing it, but, hey...Who knows? I've got three different fics here, and hopefully ONE of them is bound to be read by someone...

This one takes place during the same general time of 'The X Factor', and this, too, ties in with Q4D!, blabla...

If you haven't beaten both Golden Sun games, you're in for some spoilers, all right?

Don't say I didn't warn you...

I don't own Golden Sun, I don't own any of the characters that appear in this fic. I can't tell you if any of my bew creations WILL appear, who knows? If I do, I'll let ya know.

Oh, and by the way, this story takes place during the Winds of Fate saga. It ties in directly with my Quest for Destiny fic, which combines all my favorite characters and worlds from all over in one place.

Mario, Link, Sonic, Sora (Kingdom Hearts), Megaman X, Cloud (FF7), and more. A LOT more, all in one HUGE fic. You should check it out if ya like this.

Anyway, this is a BIG Isaac/Jenna fic. Only...

Well, I'm going to make this VERY CLEAR, so pay ATTENTION!!!

I called Isaac 'Eddy' when I played through. The name sorta stuck. Why? It's my name.

Anyway, instead of Isaac, his name's going to be Eddy, and he's basically going to be me- I hope.

A lot of things will confuse you- this is good. Be patient and your questions will be answered.

Oh, and uh...

It takes place after Golden Sun 2, and if you don't want the ending ruined, DON'T READ UNTIL YOU BEAT IT!!!

Other than that...ENJOY!!

Winds of Fate: Golden Sunrise

Prologue- A Chance

The fierce winds drifted around erratically, and the three figures atop the legendary tower conversed calmly. Although rain poured and cold harsh winds blew, it mattered not to them. After all, they were supernatural beings. And here they werem setting aside differences to arrange the types of plans that god-like figures do.

As a matter of fact, the rain passed clear through them, as if they weren't there. Though in some form or another, they must have been.

They were three figures quite different from one another in appearence, and probably in motive as well. But they all seemed to be agreeing on one goal.

The first was a large, round rock which floated in the air with ease. Upon his gray, bumpy surface, smack in the middle of his front side, was an almost unworldly eyeball. The eyeball was the only thing that let one know this creature as alive, and it was surprising just how much one eyeball coud show emotion.

"Are you sure that now is the right time?" he questioned solemnly, doubt in his tone.

"Oh, very sure," came an old, equaly wise voice from his right.

This figure was similar in the aspect that it really had no body, and merelt floated around. But this being was yellow, in the shape of a star. Plastered upon his face were two eyes and a large, white mustache that covered his mouth. The mustache wiggled around whenever he spoke.

"How is that so?" The Wise One, a god-like figure of Weyward, asked the star.

"Right now, things have been quite difficult lately. We realize that unless we pool our strengths together, we may not stand a chance against this threat. Our numbers are growing, but so are theirs."

The star was Eldstar, the leader of the Honorable Star Spirits, a group whose duty was to manage Star Haven, a special place where wishes could be granted. It was their duty to protect Stellon, their homeworld. Or at least see to it that someone ELSE protected it, for that matter.

The cunning 'rocky-eye' paused to ponder this. He knew not of this 'threat' of which they spoke, but he felt he could trust them. Whatever it was, it must be dire.

"So you wish you connect this world with the rest," he assumed in a very thoughtful tone.

"It's been some time since Weyward has been open. I've kept it shut off for quite some time. What if in opening it up again only leads to more disaster? It was only recently that the Golden Sun rose, it's energy still lingers above the planet. Anyone with the right capabilities could easily absorb it..."

Eldstar's brows furrowed. He was right, was't he?

"Kamek..." the star grumbled, noting the 'anyone' part of the Wise One's scenario.

"I don't believe Kamek will notice the Alchemy until Weyward is closely linked with the rest of our galaxy..." Eldstar noted. "He's so contained with everything before him that another world would simply not be in his best interests right now. Besides, if we wait too long, then Kamek will eventually breach into Weyward. And I feel confident in saying that this planet cannot defend itself alone, not from what Kamek has become, and certainly not from what he will be should we do nothing to stop..."

Finally, the third being chimed in. She was a bit small in comparison to the others, and a lot skinnier. A human-like form, with tan skin. She had a pinkish suit of silk, and large, gold bracelets on her arms. Her hair was a flaming red, put into a large, puffy ponytail. She was Din, a goddess from the world Hylia. She and her two sisters had created the planet and ruled it ever since.

"Whoa, like, wait a minute..." her fiesty voice cried out.

"Like, what's big the deal?" she asked irritably, her hands on her hips.

Eldstar and the Wise One stared at Din for a moment as if she were a fool.

"Hm, I see you aren't quite up to speed with foreign affairs, are you?" Eldstar mumbled. "I would think one of the three Goddesses would surely-"

"I don't do all that!" Din spat out, crossing her arms. "I take care of my OWN place, I worry about my OWN creatures..." Her beautiful, unworldly eyes darted around, observing the night skies, the raindrops, the wind...It was quite marvelous, she had to admit. And this great tower...A beautiful peace of architecture, she wasn't so sure if her little Hylians could build such a thing as the Mars Lighthouse.

"-in which case, who shall we send?" The Wise One questioned, his eye narrowed at Eldstar.

"Hm..." Eldstar paused. "Your planet, it...it has no heroes? No one with a pure heart...?"

The Wise One's eye opened slowly, and glanced southeast, toward where Vale once stood. The peaceful town of vale, of course, had been destroyed when the Golden Sun's rays bathed Mount Aleph. Thankfully, everyone managed to escape in time, so no one was killed.

Din's attention snapped back to the conversation at hand.

"Whoa, wait...What are we deciding...?"

Eldstar sighed and muttered, "Din, I am relieved to know you have two sisters who help maintain your world, your attention span is far too short to fully make wise choices..."

Din huffed and rolled her eyes at the Star. Who was he to say such things! She was much older than he!

"In order to fully link worlds together, a candidate must be chosen to commence the portal. It can sometimes be a very serious process, for the whole security of the planet is vulnerable for a time."

Din blinked at him, her eyelashes fluttering a bit. "Soooo...Like, what does THAT mean?"

"It means," Eldstar boldly declared, "That someone with a noble heart must be chosen. They must be trustworthy and able."

"And I believe I may know of the perfect candidate..." The Wise One murmured, stil staring southeast.

"Who may this be...?" Eldstar inquired, his attention completely leaving Din.

"Mmm..." The Wise One's eye closed calmly. "He has a loyal heart. He cares about those around him with all of his heart, as well. And his greatest wish is to make those around him happy. To make sure all know that he cares. I believe he would do ANYTHING for his friends."

Eldstar nodded in agreement.

"If you believe this boy is the right One, then you must send him out immeditately. We must get this task accomplished as quickly as possible."

"Have no fears, I trust this One...The powers of the Golden Sun rest within him..."

"Indeed," Eldstar said, understanding The Wise One's confidence. "Very well. I shall depart, no doubt things back home are in near shambles. Wise One, Din," he nodded to them both. "Good day to the both of you. I'm sure our paths will cross again soon."

"Totally," Din cried as he flew off. "And you'd better take good care of my Linky!!" she shouted sweetly.

"He is in good hands!" Eldstar declared, vanishing into the heavens of Weyward.

"Sooo!" Din turned to the rock with glee, her hands folded over her chest. "Is this hero-guy cute? Can I play matchmaker? I LOVE playing matchmaker with the little mortals! It is, like, SO TOTALLY FUN!!!" She squealed her last sentence, and she hopped a bit, her puffy ponytail whirling around gracefully.

The Wise One's eye displayed a sulky expression. For a Goddess, she seemed a bit immature in his eye. He was certainly not going to hand over the Fate of his creatures to this crazed girl. It was time to call him. It was time for the boy to prove his worth.

Hm...Interesting life story up there...

OK.

So...What do you think of evolutionary theory? (Bleck. Bad question, but it's the only one I could think of.)

Well, interesting...And someone voted for all of them sucking. Feh, I just threw that in there for the heck of it, but...Ah, well.

Yes, if only Squaresoft came back and did ANOTHER Mario RPG, I'll gurantee you I'd like it the most. But...Although excellent for its time, the other two games have come up with plenty of improvements.

M+L is great, but it just wasn't...BIG enough. I dunno, it just seemed too simple, no side quests. Paper Mario had sufficient extra stuff to get...

Hm. Yes, Superstar Saga IS great...

I didn't add a 'they all rock' part because everybody would vote that one, and it would defeat the wholepoint.

Portability...Hm...Didn't think of that, but yes...A distinct advantage...

But something, I can't what, just makes Superstar Saga not reach first on my list. It's just got a big empty gap in it...The other two don't have this, WHATEVER it is, but this one DOES...*shrug* I can't quite place it...

Oh, yes, no denying it. But the original is not always the best. There's always room for improvement. I agree- without Square, it lost that real RPG-esqe feeling. But the battle system sucks, in my opinion. Yay, you can do more 'moves,' persay, but you don't DO anything, really.

I just like Paper Mario in general the most, I can't quite say why. If I had to choose one of the games to keep, though I own all three, I would choose the original, though, for it brings back teh most memories.

Wow...Ya know, I was almost appalled by this poll. Everyone has their opinion, but...COME ON!!!

Bowser, duh. He's just...well...he's BOWSER! And I think he's awesome! Hell, I think he's really a good guy that just is a bit of a brat and can't let go of his rivalry with Mario.

Yea, ya could do what I did, too...

Stop doing what other people tell you to do. Do what your heart tells you, because no matter what, it'll guide you in the right direction. Many people DON'T follow their own hearts, though. They'd rather do what someone else tells them to. A sign of weakness when you can't think for yourself, I say. I just don't like organized religion.

I do believe in some greater being. Does He 'speak' to me? I dunno. If He does it through a handy little thing called my 'conscience,' which I follow everywhere.

OK, I'll be honest- I only skimmed through this, because I don't have the time...Sorry. '

I got into the NHS a year ago, and just participated in the induction ceremony not too long ago...I got to talk about the unlit candle...

Anyway! '

You act as if your life has ended because you didn't get in. You have 'nothing to show for it.' What the bloody hell are you talking about? NHS, it...Well, just because you aren't in it, it doesn't mean you're not a good person, geez...It doesn't matter whether you're a JV Captain or anything like that, either. You can still get in.

Now, as to why you aren't in- why are you complaining so much about it? Sounds to me like you're running before you walk, or something like that. Chill out, all things work out the way they're supposed to...most of the time...

And the NHS- at least where I live, does choose based on the person. You can't get in JUST BECAUSE you have good grades. Lots of people have good grades, but not all of them get in. You have to a decent person and show that you follow the other principles- Leadership, Service, and Character.

The point is that people aren't remembered for being the NHS. They're remembered because they were great people who sacraficed for others.
