| Editing (using tools others made for you) is often of more effect to the actual quality of a hack than every piece of what you do yourself (hex/assembler hacks, whatever). Still, it is these little pieces of additional work that make a hack exclusive compared to others, and it is very painful to the ones out there doing "the real work" to see how the only-editor users are celebrated as "great ROM hackers" while the actual hackers' work is rarely accounted. (Watch the "Best ROM hacker votings" going on here now and then... 70+% of the award-takers probably don't even know to read hex, not even to mention assembler) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

With the upcoming Acmlmboard 2.0, we might as well go for phpBB. Mainstream, anyone?  A lot of the features that made Acmlmboard unique were either threwn away or just left out of attention. That is not good.  (edited by blackhole89 on 09-21-05 02:55 PM)

Also, I tend to climb up my chair or even sit on my table when I become nervous (which has been a lot lately, due to tRO/this board's situation).  Other than that, I only play badminton once in a while.

- When I first figured out on the N-SPC format, I said something about Solar Soundtrack (my N-SPC music editor) being released within the next two weeks probably. Over a year has passed since then. |
- My English sucked a lot, but I did not recognize that. - I posted too many threads on the same topic over a certain period of time. (Namely my now-frozen hack, SMW:ALttP)

bbitmaster: Amen. There is a discrepancy between hacking and editing (i.e. we have a lot of people who make good levels but totally fail at hacking), but for some reason I don't see people who don't read the stickies before posting on an obviously covered topic mostly can't do either well. |
Age really doesn't matter that much in ROM hacking. I started ROM hacking when I was 13 (my first actual hacking jobs, being cracking a game's map format and writing an editor, even when I was 11 or 12) and I think I did more or less well, as did others at that age.
