Oookay, time to clear some things up.

First off, SPC is NOT a music format. The format the actual music data is stored in varies from game to game. SPC files are, just like the games they are, ROMs. Only that they don't contain code for the 65c816 SNES processor itself, but rather for its sound processor, the SPC-700. Henceforth, an SPC is more like a music player program for the SPC-700 with hardcoded music data. As the SPC is responsible for outputting everything you might hear during gameplay, there is a heavily used 4 byte bus between the 65c816 and the SPC-700, over which data is sent in a mostly proprietary format, which makes "importing SPCs from other games" mostly impossible.

Secondly, the circumstance Solar Soundtrack as well as DJ Bouche's hexadecimally composed music relies on is that we (i.e. a small conspirative group of 1337h4xx0rz

No caps in the thread title please.
*fixed*
There are other threads more important in here, and they don't capitalize their titles in such a lame way either. Grow up.

I tried to start a hack with Temporal Flux three times in total, once on the first release, once with one in between and once with the now-most-up-to-date-one. Each time I did so, it refused to apply any stage changes properly (mostly, only some parts of the level were stored back), fucked up other levels' data upon more major tile passability map edits and ended up corrupting the ROM. Also, it holocausted my sweet ROM headers.
No, I shall not be touching this satanic thing anymore.

Erm... 1000 threads? Who? Where?

For the record, this is thread #16539, so it can't be the board you are talking about... also, this is your 305th post, so it is not yourself either...
explain... what exactly is this about?

Super Mario Odyssey by BMF54123. Only a demo 2 so far, but I wonder how nobody mentioned it yet.

Use my Layout's search function to look it up. My abilities of browsing are vastly limited in this ... internet cafe thing there is here.

Sweet.

Makes me really want to get back to ROM hacking, although I perfectly know I have no time for it as lots of things need to be done for the tRO client (which is a plain x86 executable, thus being off my area of expertise, almost as big as an SNES ROM and with much, much more complicated adressing and opcodes)

Oh well, I was getting off topic again. Keep the good work up, man.

On Acmlm's I am:
- Off the pinnacle of my popularity/knowedness for sure. I have reduced in activity on the ROM hacking sector lately.
- A nazi when it comes to stupendous noobs, hoaxes used to gain popularity and pointless threads. Can't help it.
- more or less respected (or, at least, appreciated) ... or so I think ... by some veteran ROM hackers in here. Newbies, on the other hand, mostly don't even know I hack ROMs.
- tending to do either ridiculously or ridiculously long replies to threads, but rarely mediocre-lengthy ones.

My response to the board:
- You - we - can regain our former glory (post quality, professional discussion, etc.). It is not as hard as it seems to be.
- You still are a great lot.

My goal/motive:
- To make Acmlm's once again a good base for professional ROM hacking discussion beyond newbish "HOW DO I EAT ASM?!" questions.
- To do my best not to get a life.

Kirby ATW - I appreciate your "giant irl party" idea. Let's just say - SECONDED.

There might be another way, considering you have some programming knowledge in both a high level PC language and 65c816 (SNES) assembler. (I actually got the SNES part of it done somewhen, but can't access it now due to being on holidays)
As the overworld data is stored decompressed in RAM and SRAM once you have started a game, you can easily write your own map change routine which loads the map from somewhere in the ROM. The PC programming part of the whole thing is about writing a map editor for whatever format you use to store your own maps in ROM. (You might as well figure out SMW's native compression method and hack LM to edit the maps at the location of your choice. Might be a little too much work for that though)

Moved it into SMW hacking, and hence out of my range of responsibility. A sly one, I am.
Actually, I felt like closing or trashing that thread, but then again, there are too many people in here who think we shouldn't treat stupid newbie threads too fiercely, and I would just end up being contradicted like in that empty window editor screenshot affair.
Oh well, it'd have belonged in here either way.

So long,

Well, at the beginning, I was not intending any Zelda reference whatsoever... instead, there was time travel, and I could not think of anyway else as an appropriate title for that (why is LoZ 3 called ALttP anyway? That makes no sense). Due to public pressure, I had to give in and add some LoZ 3 enemy graphics, though.

...which, most likely, won't ever be played by anybody but you. Seriously, with the quality SMW hacks reach today, nobody cares about a level only hack. Also, it is, in most cases, wrong to publish your first hack. They suck in 99% of the cases.

Gah. There are WAY TOO MANY threads in here asking for DWTLC help. We need a sticky for that (it doesn't really belong in to the SMW hacking board, but I guess there is not much we could do about it).

There is no assembler command to "erase things", whatever it would be supposed to do.

Also, what would you like to relocate the overworld loading code for? I have serious doubts you have the skills to do anything like an asm hack to it.
