They sound like SMAS instruments do unless you insert new ones (which won't be available in beta 1 because of a memory leak). Listen to any piece of SMAS music to find out.

I am currently trying to replace the SMAS instruments by better ones, but it is quite hard because of the lack on SPC bank space. (I slightly remind having posted a demo SPC with the Chrono Trigger instrument from Wind Scene applied to SMAS's Coin Heaven some time ago)The song bank 4 I announced some time ago still needs lots of time to be usable without pain ^^

Could you at least tell where the sprite routines are located? I mean, I looked up what I thought being the goomba handler code (I'm still quite sure it was), replaced it with NOPs and watched the only difference being the goomba not being displayed after it hits mario and mario falls down the screen.

It's not too hard to code a lightning routine yourself by simply changing the palette.
Anyway, the interesting thing about this sprite code is that the only thing it sets is the asm routine adress. This, again, means that mikeyk's hammer brother does not use the SMW engine at all to define the hammer bro's behaviour (since all the flags that activate some native SMW engine handler routines are turned off) but makes all the necessary stuff in his custom routine, which shouldn't be to hard to rip.
Give me a day or two to understand how he did it

SMW's engine is not entirely different from SMAS's, and I think I know enough about it to convert SMW songs to SMAS. The difference between the two is just enough to make the songs from one of them not playable in the other one and vice versa (the commands are different, but the note formatting is the same).

@The_Raven, it is not that bad.
@Alexa, it is mainly because SMW had some (few) really good tracks (like the castle music).
@UnsurpassedDarkness, right.

Because you currently have to choose between SMAS (which has some good tracks and some bad ones) and original SMW music (which has some few good tracks and many bad ones). With porting the good tracks from the SMW to the SMAS engine you can have all the good songs in one hack.

It depends on how fast you can enter the notes into it.

Not really. MIDI exceeds the possibilities of SPC by lengths, and it doesn't make a real difference whether the MIDI contains game music or anything else, since the format is still the same.
Theoretically, you, of course, could try to port MIDI to N-SPC, but it would be way too much work and the probability of receiving a valuable result would be close to zero.

@Xenon Odyssey, here is an older screenshot.

*likes*
Informatics - because the teacher lets me do whatever I like (i.e. playing MMOGs and posting at Acmlm's) all the time.

English - it is easy enough to spend the time recolouring the photos and drawings in the English book.

Maths - the teacher likes bashing single students (not more than one or two of them per lesson) and is generally quite funny until someone makes a joke about his ... uhm.... well-built stomach .

Chemistry - although the teacher herself sucks, I still have an unbroken interest for the subject per se.

Latin - I have always been good at languages, and I am amongst the few students in the class who really like this stuff.

*dislikes*
Ethnology or whatever it is called - the teacher (a lass who dyed her hair bright red although she's about 50 years old) is terrible, as are most of the students in this class. It is like "What are your worst fears? If you don't want to tell in front of the class, that's ok, you also may just tell it to me." ;;;

Biology - urgh. The teacher really hates me for no apparent reason, therefore, biology class = HELL.

Music - omg. Although I got a mark 1 (equivalent to A) on it last year - Every single teacher we had on this until now has a shitty taste of music. I want my SPCs back

German - would be more or less ok if we could type the essays in on a keyboard instead of having to write them. I suck at writing because I do all the homework on the PC (Maple 8 pwns for maths ).

P.E. - Our PE teacher is nothing but sadistic.

Sociology - the teacher yells at the class for every small reason like someone reading his book at the wrong page.

I do like the screenshot, though. Very nice layout; everything looks organized and such. Can't wait to try it! *drool*

Yes, there are some (as for the keyboard shortcuts).

Rejoice.

In Germany there was a dumb band called "Modern Talking" in the '70s (as far as I know they were always drunk too), or so I think... but what is Modern Posting?
Spoiler:
It is a band with YD knuck as the lead singer.

You have indigo hair. You are thoughtful, deep, and
sometimes solemn. You are a very centered and
serious person, always looking for an answer.

What is your inner anime hair color?
brought to you by Quizilla

Heh. I got stuck on every single anime related question because I don't watch that stuff too much the only series I knew from the offered ones were ones that sucked (i.e. Digimon, DBZ, Sailor Moon) and Neo Genesis Evangelion, which I voted.

I got a similar-looking problem while editing non-overworld areas (!). Entering the areas and exiting them again (from a savestate) would mean trash on the upper and the collision layer, starting a new game also fucked the lower layer. It looks like some sorts of a pointer problem to me

First off, get a provider where to host your images. I recommend Photobucket.
Second, take a screenshot. If you are using ZSNES, press F1 and select "save image as" or something like that. On Snes9x, press the Print Screen button at the top right of your keyboard ("Druck" on German keyboards, if it helps you), start a drawing program (I recommend Paintbrush) and press Ctrl-V, then save the picture somewhere on your HD.
Third, log in at photobucket and upload the file.
Fourth, pick the IMG tag from Photobucket's gallery.
Fifth, insert the line here and you're done.

The bowser lightning routine, afaik, seems to attempt inserting the bowser ledge (that castle top thingy you stand on in the last battle) into the OAM, but somehow fails at it. That's what produces the glitches.

OMG, w00t. This will simplify my "work" a lot... and make my own Snes9x expansion project ("Snes9x romhacker's edition"), which I started to code because I needed to be able to see the A, X and Y vectors on runtime, rather useless. Not that I would miss it, seeing the list of features you have to offer......
