Blech, I never knew about that Block Tool bug. I didn't compile that version, I just sent jonwil the updated ASM, and he took it from there. I'm still using an older version I hacked myself, which uses a different routine that's the same length as the original (I just hacked it to jump to a subroutine I inserted into the ROM myself). Don't ask me for a copy, though, as jonwil had a fit when I tried to distribute it. Besides, I don't remember what code it jumps to, or how it actually works...it's been a long time. | I originally hooked the routine that clears the sprite RAM for my HDMA hack (until I discovered it would glitch up when the game slowed down). The routine's located in RAM at $7F8000, so look for 22 00 80 7F.  I've seen those pictures before. Very w00t indeed. It's amazing that none of the levels shown made it into the final game (though I guess I can understand why the transparent water idea was dropped, it looks pretty blah without a background)...

Anyway, I just used custom instant kill blocks for my lava falls. There's one included with Block Tool, isn't there?

This may not be your problem, but it was the first thing that came to mind. Do you plug the computers directly into the modem? I know some ISPs record the MAC address of whatever device the cable modem is first plugged into, and may only let you swap devices a limited number of times (or not at all) without giving them a call. Routers have a feature that masks their real MAC address for this very reason. You may want to check and see if the other computer has such an option, and if so, set it to report the same MAC address as the first machine. |
