"AddReg= processing error" would seem to imply an error in processing the registry, which would make sense, considering Win3.x doesn't have one (not that I'm aware of).

Har har, I knew all along. Neener neener! XD

*points and taunts like a bratty kid*

Oh, by the way, I may have had something to do with this. Exactly what, though, I won't say.

He did, several times.

Yes, I did use a small amount of ASM, because I didn't like the way the auto-scroll sprites started off slow and gradually increased in speed. I simply set background scrolling to "none" and made a small hack that increments the background scroll register.

I'm certain one time ZD uploaded a hack of SMB with--I kid you not--boxes drawn around all the sprites.

I'd go look for it, but...I don't feel much like going there. All those old, abandoned mutant hacks give me the creeps.

[EDIT]
Okay, maybe not. But everything submitted by "John Deering" (all within one or two weeks, IIRC) is equally hazardous to your health, if not moreso. Crap doesn't get any crappier than this. Avoid!

Boooo! My "SMB2 Christmas Edition" is featured on that site. I didn't think it was that bad, and I never intended it to be more than a seasonal novelty...

Oh, yes...yes indeed. Don't forget he faked screenshots and stole other people's work, and quite possibly registered another account for the sole purpose of praising his own trash (it was never totally confirmed, but both members disappeared around the same time). A true loser in every sense of the word.

As I recall, the NVIDIA driver packages have full-color wallpaper, even though you'll most likely be installing them on a 16-color screen when you first get the video card. Creative's Sound Blaster drivers and a lot of Taiwanese motherboard drivers/tools tend to be the same way (the latter are the worst, since motherboard manufacturers like to go way overboard with colorful, badly-rendered logos and widgets).

OMG BEST SONIC HACK EVER

Seriously, though, those stick figures actually look kinda neat against the colorful backdrop of Emerald Hill. I'd like to make a game/hack someday that features a totally cartoonish character lost in a realistic-looking world...

I've been able to predict songs on the radio and the occasional TV show. The song/show will suddenly pop into my head for no reason, I'll think about it a bit, and BAM, there it is.

I also had a "vision" of what one of the final rooms in the Genesis game Puggsy looked like years before the game was even released. I'm certain I drew a picture of it (I thought it was a neat design for a Super Mario Bros. 2 level at the time), but I haven't been able to find it.

I remember when my old dial-up provider's DNS servers would go down, thus breaking the Internet, ICQ and mIRC would keep working. Sounds like it could be a DNS issue of some kind, though I wouldn't know how to go about resolving it.

Friggin' awesome, Gav! I never could figure out exactly how that code worked...for some reason, the whole concept of ROL and the Carry bit went completely over my head. It looked to me like it was constantly rotating the same byte over and over again, and the flags just "magically" appeared there. I feel really stupid now.

Alright, enough. Take your stupid bickering outside the forum. I'm tired of it.

If anyone's wondering why I still haven't come back...well, here's a very good reason. This community, with all its bickering and rampant stupidity, is quickly degenerating to the level of your average Pok

This, maybe? I followed some links from that site you mentioned, and that's what I found. Seems odd that there isn't more info on this problem.

As tedious as it sounds, have you tried deleting the files just a few at a time? Maybe, for example, "YYYY-MM-*.*"? Maybe if you can reduce the size of the directory a bit, you'll be able to nuke it.

Also, I take it you've run ScanDisk, and it hasn't revealed any errors?

FYI, a fully-patched, up-to-date, "secure" IE can and will install crap on your computer without so much as a confirmation dialog, as I found out when I visited Home of the Underdogs (a well-known abandonware site). I guess I happened to load their ad banner at just the wrong time or something, as I soon found myself inundated with several popup windows, a couple dozen links to various sites and "spyware removers" on my desktop, and multiple spyware packages attempting to install themselves simultaneously (it's a good thing I had just backed up the Registry). THAT is why I switched to Firefox--not because it's the "cool" thing to do, not because I'm an anti-Microsoft rebel, but because I value my computer too much to see it destroyed by a shoddy lump of obsolete code with more holes than your average sponge.

NO.

If browsers are going to compete, let them compete over secondary functions like interface options and ease of use. The primary function--proper, standards-compliant HTML rendering--must remain intact. Nobody wants to code for 15 different browsers.

I ran Windows 98 on a 2GB drive for several years without problems. It's hard to fill that much space when you don't have broadband, though.

(Now that I do have it, I have a combined storage capacity of 312GB on two computers. How times have changed...)

If everything is working properly, I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Your computer's not going to blow up if one of your drivers doesn't have Microsoft's seal of approval.
