Have you tried emptying the plugins folder to see if the problem still occurs?

I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to installing software. I never install anything that includes spyware, and I use Firefox, so I don't bother using anti-spyware tools. I do have a copy of Ad-Aware installed, though, just in case.

I don't trust "window washer"-type programs, and never will. The first (and only) time I used a "highly recommended" registry cleaner, it wiped out a bunch of "bad" keys that Photoshop and some other programs needed to operate. So, I prefer to do things myself via RegEdit and good ol' Notepad.

The stuff I use to keep everything running smoothly:

- ScanDisk
- Defrag
- F-Prot Antivirus
- Backup hard drive
- Router (hardware firewall)
- Can of compressed air (dust can cause more problems than you think)
- Good quality surge protector/noise filter

Next time, instead of bumping such an old topic, just start a new one. Falsely getting people's hopes up is bad bad bad.

...

Someone please, PLEASE tell me this is another April Fool's joke.

1) No hack announcements without screenshots/storyline/other *interesting* info. "a dark eery evil atmosphere" doesn't cut it--anyone can do that by darkening the palette. If you don't know how to upload/post screenshots, LOOK AROUND or ask someone for info.
2) You can't link to images on your hard drive...

I think the unmoveable blocks include the swap file and system files that are currently in use. It could be that rebooting unloaded whatever programs were using the files, allowing them to be safely defragged.

I often wonder why different computers have vastly different numbers of those blocks, though...a clean Windows install on my new computer a while ago yielded a huge number of untouchable blocks.

AFAIK, Win32s != Win9x. I highly doubt IE5 is going to work in the old, vastly different 3.11 environment, especially considering how it integrates itself into the OS. It probably expects things like long file name support and certain window-drawing routines that hadn't been implemented yet.

Okay, chill. What the f*ck do you expect us to think when you barely provide any information at all? We've seen this many times before--hack announcements with little or no substance--and the majority of the time, nothing comes of it...no demo, no screenshots, nothing. Maybe we're a little tired of it. In the absence of screenshots, you could've at least explained your hack a bit more in-depth in your first post...provided a storyline, some level names, what's been hacked (levels, graphics, ASM), SOMETHING other than "it's dark and eery."

If you still want to post some screenshots, here's what you need to do:

1. Find a free webspace provider.
2. Upload the image file to the site (preferably in GIF format--BMPs take too long to download on slow connections and aren't an "officially"-supported Internet image format).
3. Copy the URL of the image you just uploaded and place it within an <img> tag, like so:

<img src="http://yourwebsite.com/yourimage.gif">

OR, if the provider doesn't allow off-site image linking (most of them don't), use a clickable link instead:

<a href="http://yourwebsite.com/yourimage.gif">click here to view pic</a>

I have that same problem quite frequently, although I usually don't get the "[domain] cannot be found" error; Firefox will just sit there and do nothing until I click the link again. I've never been able to figure out what causes it, and I'm never patient enough to wait and see if the page actually loads.
