Yeah, the biggest problem I have with my brother's laptop is the screen. The brightness and colors always look funny, no matter what angle I view it at...

I think the stereo might have something to do with the noise. See, you're basically amplifying the sound twice, once at the stereo, and once at the computer, so naturally it's going to amplify any background noise (which such a complicated setup is sure to introduce) present in the signal.

My only recommendation is to buy that adapter cable you mentioned. That way, you'll be getting clean, line-level sound straight from the source.

You just answered your own question. If you know that what you want to do is called ROM HACKING, wouldn't the next logical step be to plug that into your favorite search engine?

Many newbies to the ROM hacking scene don't even bother taking that first logical step. That's the point Skiffles was trying to make.

I think the free Hotmail upgrade is being rolled out somewhat slowly and randomly. I got a notice about the upgrade in late summer or early fall. My brother's account was upgraded a month or two ago, IIRC, while mine wasn't upgraded until a few weeks after that, and I've had mine since 1997 or 1998.

Most liter bottles use the bigger cap size nowadays. My guess is they did it so you'd drink it faster and have to buy another one sooner...

Posted on 12-15-04 02:36 PM, in Routers. Link
Well, here's my original network setup:

I now have a 4-port router that eliminates the need for a hub, but the rest is still basically the same. Modem connects to router, router connects to computers' Ethernet jacks. It's pretty simple, really, and there are lots of tutorials available online for first-timers (just do a search for "home networking" or something similar).

The Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router is pretty cheap, and works well. My first setup used a BEFSR11 (1-port), in combination with a cheapo ASOUND "Petit Hub." When my brother got his PowerBook, he bought a 4-port Wireless-B router (BEFW1154), which replaced both the old router and the hub (the new router has a hub built-in).

Overall, I'd say you're looking at not more than $50-$60 to set up a simple home network.

A real-time memory viewer, and breakpoints on memory read/write, while the game is playable in the background...that's all I ask...

All the code would have to do is decompress the ExGFX to VRAM. Sounds simple enough, but I don't know exactly how it's done, or how long it takes (what happens if custom code takes more than one frame to finish?).

I wish FuSoYa came around more often, maybe he could shed some light on this subject...

It would appear that the 24-bit ExGFX pointers are stored in order at the following locations:

For ExGFX 0-FF: $7F800
For ExGFX 100-FFF: $D0200 (this starts with a RATS tag, so I'm assuming LM can store it in a different location if necessary)

I think I may have also found FuSoYa's ExGFX loading routines:

For ExGFX 0-FF: $7F360
For ExGFX 100-FFF: $7FA40

Fortunately, FuSoYa's Lunar IPS has a workaround for that little problem. He always thinks of everything.

The part of that routine that tipped me off was this:

LDA $10806E,X
STA $8A
LDA $10806F,X
STA $8B

Those two 24-bit addresses are the first and second bytes of the ExGFX 100-FFF pointer table (they're different in my ROM, just as I suspected), so I knew I was in the right place.

Have you guys ever tried Tile Molester? It's a Java application, so it should work on most any platform, as far as I know. I don't really care much for it (YY-CHR 4EVA!), but I figure those of you that use TLP all the time might find it useful (and less buggy).
