1) Yes. All 32 screens are rendered in memory, regardless of the "number of screens" setting in the header (AFAIK, it's *only* read by the scrolling routine to determine where to stop).
2) Immediately after the last layer 1 page, I believe.
4) You mean the block's RAM address? Of course, otherwise Map16-changing blocks wouldn't work. I'm not entirely sure how to do it myself, though...
6) Yes.
7) Yes. A few of them are listed in the old memory locations thread. (Did you know $1DF9-$1DFC are just mirrors of SPC700 ports? I think all but one are directly copied during V-blank.)
8) Just what it says: cuts the color data in half, essentially cutting the image's brightness in half.

You could at least say which game you're working on. This thread is quickly going down the tubes.

Wow, neat effect!

Whether or not a sprite is affected by color addition/subtraction changes depends on its palette number (this is noticeable in ghost houses with transparent green bubbles). AFAIK, the first 4 palettes aren't affected, while the last 4 are. Pretty lame if you ask me...

"Acmlm" was just an Internet glitch. Nothing more.

This board, and all its users, are just stray data, cast off from the decaying remains of deleted websites and lost e-mails. Any similarity to intelligent (or otherwise) design and thought is purely coincidental.

As a member of this "messageboard," you, like Acmlm, do not exist. Deal with it.

Er, what can I say? I likez teh Blobz.

Blobby Slimeson (or "The Blob," though I don't call him that in comics/ROM hacks because it's such a common title) is a character I made up waaaaaaay back when I was just a little kid, at my grandma's house. Back then, he was an enormous mountain of slime with a face and "tentacles," leaning against the side of a building, smacking down helicopters and unsuspecting soldiers. He quickly evolved into the Kirby-ish design of today, and he's a good guy now, not a rampaging monster. He's the "Legendary Guardian of Blobaria," who fights against the evil Bad Blob empire with his sidekick, half-Blob, half-robot M.C. The Bad Blobs no longer have a planet to call their own, after being banished to a floating space station by the Elders, and thus their sole purpose in life is to cause trouble for the peace-loving Blobs down below and try to regain control of the planet...

Aaaaaaaanyway, my avatar is supposed to be an artsy portrait of Blobby himself, set against the lush green fields of Blobaria. The mugshot in my sig is taken from the title screen of my ROM hack, "Blob Muncher." The layout's supposed to be a futuristic viewscreen of some sort, hence the "BlobTronix" text at the bottom. And my font color just happens to be "#COFFEE."

The funny thing is, green never was one of my favorite colors...

Definitely keep it a recommendation, not a rule. All I ask is that people make their topic titles somewhat descriptive, i.e. "New [insert hack name here] screenshots!", not just "[insert hack name here]" or "screenshots".

OK, I think I see what you mean...you can't convert a PAR RAM address to a ROM address. You'd have to find the ASM code in the ROM that reads/writes that RAM address, and change it there.

If you're talking about a PAR code that changes ROM, though (the code will be anything but 7Exxxxxx or 7Fxxxxxx), that's easy. All you have to do is cut off the last two digits of the code and run the remaining 6-digit address through Lunar Address (at FuSoYa's site), which will convert it into a real ROM address.

We get wonderful advertisements for Hollywood Erotique Boutique here in Spokane. After rambling on about leather, lace, and chains in a hushed, sexy voice, they like to remind you to visit their Gay Pride, Fetish, and XXX Video stores at the end of each ad.

So, uh, yeah...if you ever visit Spokane, don't bother turning on the radio, as you'll only become utterly disgusted and overwhelmingly disappointed in a VERY short time. That is, unless endless advertisements and Bon Jovi marathons are your thing.

That is a WONDERFUL title screen you have there. Very creative and unique. The sprite edits are really nice, too.

It really depends on what kind of samples the game uses. Most are 1-bit delta modulation, which AFAIK is a pain in the you-know-where to replace, because it's obviously not a standard sound format; I have seen tools that encode/decode the data, though. Other games (though this is rather uncommon) stream raw waveform data straight into the chip; you can usually open these games in a sound editor and listen to the samples (The Three Stooges and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles demo ROM, for example). In these games, you could probably just cut and paste a sound clip directly into the file.

The game uses HDMA to split layer 3 directly underneath the status bar; that's why the lower part can scroll independently and have lower priority.

To control the brightness of layer 2, just change the palette entry used in the dark area via an ASM hack.

Alright, where did you read that? In an e-mail? Most of those ridiculous claims have been proven to be nothing more than urban legends, and really stupid ones at that.

Example: if Coke can eat through a nail in 3 days, how can it be stored in plastic containers for months, even years, at a time? Wouldn't all the vending machines and soda fountains out there be molten hunks of metal and plastic by now?

"In a future version I hope to add an item/enemy editor and also a map editor since I started finding info about it."
