Alaric's 100% correct. You need a decent amount of ASM knowledge before you can get any use out of this hack. The mere act of installing it requires direct hex editing and redirecting a couple of pointers.

Maybe someday, I will learn to program Windows apps and create a Block Tool-ish interface...

I am 100% certain you didn't save your Map16 changes. You MUST press F9 in the Map16 Editor window to do this; the usual disk icon or File menu command won't work.

I only use custom blocks when I really need them; I generally don't design levels around them. For example, my Chuck boss won't end the level properly if he's killed with fireballs or a cape (they make the battle too easy anyway), so I put a "powerup-removing beam" right at the entrance to his chamber that takes away everything but Super Mushrooms.

Of course, I did create a few custom blocks "just for fun" (like a random "?" block), but I'm trying my hardest not to overuse them.

I know it's too late to be of any help, but you should probably learn to make backups of your ROM so you have something to fall back on in case disaster strikes. I usually make a backup copy every other time I open Lunar Magic (or any time I try something new or experimental).

I need a glass or two every night before I go to bed. It's just an odd habit of mine...I don't even remember when it started. It was somewhat recently, though.

I can only drink organic milk, though...not for health reasons (though it *is* better for you), but for taste reasons. I bought my first carton out of curiosity sometime last year, and it tastes so good, I can't go back, even if it is twice as expensive. Anyone remember what baby formula tastes like? That's what most ordinary milk tastes like to me now. Yick.

It's not random. It depends on what overworld level number you just finished: 0xx levels use level 0, 1xx levels use level 100. It works the same way for Yoshi's bonus levels (C8 or 1C8).

You could probably hack the routine that reads the screen exit tables to intercept and replace 00 with a different level number. I'm examining it right now...

Rather than upload an IPS patch, I'll just tell you what to change. At $2D9C0, enter the following:
20 C0 DC

Then, at $2DEC0, enter the following:
D0 07 AC 25 14 D0 02 A9 FF 8D BB 17 60

Now, anytime the game tries to exit to level x00 (unless the bonus game flag at $1425 is set), it will exit to xFF instead. All you have to do is put your "error message" in levels FF and 1FF. That's it!

Here's mine. Hope you don't mind me borrowing the idea...

One of these days, I'm going to modify SNES9X or ZSNES to use external MP3s depending on what value is written to the music change register, ending this silly music problem once and for all. It's been done with MAME, so it can't be *too* impossible...

I submitted a Block Inserter hack to jonwil that mostly fixed the slowdown problem (as long as your custom blocks were all on the last page), and he recompiled it and submitted a copy to me for bug testing. However, I never actually got around to testing it, and now jonwil has vanished off the face of the Earth once again. I wonder if he'd mind if I leaked it?

SNES emulation for the GBA is still in its early stages. Give it some time and it'll improve, though it will never be anywhere close to perfect (there's simply not enough CPU power and RAM in the GBA to properly emulate the SNES).

I've considered changing my username for a few days, but I can never think of anything appropriate...I've gone by BMF54123 (or BMF) since, oh, 1997 or so.

I could always follow an ever-popular trend and change my username to "Neko54123" and become female...eheheh...

You know, I just realized you could use HDMA to make part of one of the layers scroll at a different speed, simulating a separate background layer (maybe a line of clouds or something). Of course, this means you couldn't put non-background objects on that layer above a certain Y position in the level, otherwise they'd scroll with the background...

I may have to play around with this idea.
