I think whether you're a "newbie" or an "oldbie" (or just a n00b) largely depends on your personality, your maturity, the content of your posts, and other things besides just registration date and number of posts. Some people can join a messageboard and effortlessly blend in right from the beginning, becoming "insta-oldbies," and some will remain hopeless n00bs for the rest of their lives. Some people transform overnight. That's how I see it, anyway...I never label someone based strictly on their numerical stats.

You mean the colors are turning negative? I had that same problem, though I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it. I think I fiddled around with the CGADSUB flags a bit; they're kinda tricky. You might also try using an ordinary screen mode, in case you're using one of the two transparent ones (your CGADSUB settings will still work).

This is the ASM I used to change CGADSUB for my spotlight hack:

Something else to watch out for when using ExGFX on the overworld: sometimes, depending on which tiles you've changed, event tiles will revert to their old look while fading in. I think there's another tileset loaded in memory that FuSoYa's code doesn't overwrite...

Your layout is perfectly readable when the background image loads, but if for whatever reason it doesn't, you get the problem Gandalf posted: black text on a black or very dark background. I suggest you add a light background color to your table, just in case that happens.

You could always try changing TM/TMW and TD/TSW on the fly by writing to those registers...I dunno if it'll work, but it's worth a shot.
