There is already a thread covering character preference here, sorry but I have to shut you down. Try to check next time, though

Google is your best choice for this. Altavista can search for MP3s but it is never very good at it. IGN could also have some screenshots, but that is about all they are good for

I'll see in some other games if the format looks similar (it's very easy thanks to FCEUXD's code/data logger )

EDIT: tested it on three games :
SMB1 :
Similar but not exactly the same ; doesn't crash game anyway but sounds glitchy because of the different instruments probably

Zelda1 :
Similar but not exactly the same ; doesn't crash game anyway but sounds glitchy because of the different instruments probably
Song parts pointers work differently ( 8 bytes )

Zelda2 :
Looks similar (song parts, headers, tracks), but with different bytes 'coding' (can't even hear anything of the original song when inserted in smb3) ; doesn't crash game though

It is really that it is different instruments, simply a different square wave duty is defined. SMB3 also uses that famous PCM chanel. Alot. So, that is why its music will mess up in most of the other games. DDP is NOT the same. It has a special chip that allows it to use 5 chanels. You heard me, 5 SMB2 does not do this. The DDP songs that were kept were dumbed down for SMB2, and are alot different in the real form.

Kyaa! I have been waiting for so long for this title. I am getting very very excited. I have not been checking things lately, did they announce a date for a Japan release?

Creatures is a company of their own which had lended the support to Gamefreak as well as Nintendo during funding of the first game of Pocket Monsters. There is now a Pokemon Company which the 3 companies own as one (I think Nintendo may have most of it however. But it would make more sence for Satoshi Tajiri to..). And the president is none other than Hirokazu Tanaka of Metroid Music fame ^^; Also, Gamefreak and Creatures also made the Gameboy Camera and Printer with Nintendo. That is why Pokemon games of old used it The Gamefreak and Creatures webpages (2 different pages, 2 different companies) say what games they have all made, together or appart even. It is in Japanese though...they did not even make all of the Pokemon Games, Genious Sonority made Coloseum.

Maybe you can add in 'abilities' like in Ruby and Sapphire. You know, like Blaze, or Torrent, or Serene Grace, or Thick Fat. That would be kind of cool ^^;

Zelda would be a very good movie, if it wasn't live action I would want an anime. . . that way, the japanese version could at least use Fujiko and Nobuyuki as young and adult Link respectivly..I hate when they change actors that were used in games. Ryo Horikawa wasn't even cast as Captain Falcon in the Japanese version of the F-Zero anime. And he has been playing that voice since F-Zero X, not just Smash Bros. The american one does not even use the actor fro GX, either. And KIRBY! They did not use that actress as well. . . Eric Stuart as metanight? Ahhhh at least Ikue Otani will always undenyably be Pikachu ._.;;

Posted on 06-28-05 10:24 PM, in Game Designers: Information Needed Link
While Kasumi has it mostly all there, there are a few things that you must keep in mind. While she says that the programmers and other such people have little say in how the game goes, in some cases, they have the ONLY say. Alot of times, there are teams of map designers, and they will be given an outline of a scenery (a tropical island with many flowers, a burned out building, a black hole in space, but with more detail!) and the rest is left up to them. Because it is a team of map designers doing it all it will ensure that a new area will not conflict with already existing ones (for example, designing the exit to a building where there were clearly no doors on the outside, or a path leading to nowhere). The game designer will make sure that the maps suit his or her vision and will often times drop very stern hints and suggestions, and may even have some sketches of how they invisioned the map. But the people are given creative liscenses.

The same would have to go for the sound team. It is split in to two usualy, though sometimes one man does it all. There is the Music crew and the sound effects crew. Each can range from 1 to a number of people (much like maps or any other aspect), and each is given an idea. The designer will go to the music crew and say for an instance, "this level is under-water. We need peacful music to set the mood". The musicians then go to write some music and pass it by the designer, and if he likes it then everyone is happy. Though alot of times, the musicians are simply given the 'scenario' and allowed to write how it is seen fit, and if the game designer has any stern suggestions in mind it will be noted before hand. Sound effects works a little differently. They need to wait for the game mechanics, so they can bring the sounds of all the game to life. As such, the designer will need to tell them what sort of sounds that the game will need.

It does not always work this way, but in a typical team, it would work similarly. 2D games tend to follow this guidline a little bit closer than 3D games do, I have noticed.

Please try to explain yourself a little bit more clearly. This thread has gone very far from the actual topic. . . though, I am not really sure what that is, exactly. I'll give you the opportunity to salvage this one, but if nothing comes out of it, I'm shutting her down, alright?

edit: and re-release the NES? Nintendo is not stupid..they would loose money. No one would pay the money that it would cost for a new system, and Nintendo would need to re-manufacture every peice of hardware including cartridges, cases, lables, instruction books, boxes. . . they have made a few bad buisnes moves some may say, but they are not stupid. Think things through, you know?

It is sort of hard to have never heard about a game ever, unless it is obscure and stupid, so you would not buy it anyway. There will always be a comercial or a picture unless you live in a hole. For me..I did not know of Tokimeki Memorial (Japanese game sort of before your time..) very much, but I just knew that it existed. I did see it in a store one day and my sister said we should just get it. It is my favorite game series in the world now
