I am new to this board, and I was playing the Super Demo World Legends hack FuSoYa made. If this is not the apporitate topic to ask about this, I apologize and I will post it in the apportiate topic or just leave it entirely alone.

Right now I only have 70 goals, and I've beaten the game. But I just KNOW there is a lot more left, because I remembered from somewhere there were over 100 goals or so, and plus, I haven't even found the Yellow Switch Place, AND I just found ONE Star "warp" to the star world by Bowser's place, and I still have about 10 stars or so left. O_o

If anyone has a FAQ on the hacked ROM, that would be great.

Thanks for the link to the FAQ, and thanks again for not flaming me. I didn't know it was a question that was asked so often... ^^;;

Like I said, I am new to this board, so...

Anyway, thanks for the link.

Not really... It's just that we dislike answering questions we have answered several times before. That's why I made the Newbie FAQ.

Ah, alright. Sorry for all the trouble.

Wow... knocking Iggy off that platform WITH the platform on the top would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, without the Fire Flower, since you can't really bonk Iggy on his head with the platform in the way.

I certainly hope you put a couple of ? blocks with a couple of Fire Flowers inside before the Iggy fight.

But editing boss fights? This will certainly arise some interesting hacks.

I was able to get some custom graphics by editing the file in hex. For example overwriting 0x30 to 0x47 of GFX27.bin with the string 2924914DB6DA53ED9A537D9A53EF9A53FDDA52491A292491 and inserting it with LM replaces the upper leftmost tile of the platform with a test tile I made. I don't know if any of the tile editors support this format, because it would be pretty tedious to change everything by hand. As for the platform design, you should be able to see it (quite literally) at 0x1D9EC. Tile mapping starts at 0x1DAEC, 4 bytes for each 16x16 tile.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the pallette the platform uses starts at 0x385C, 8 entries, 2 bytes each. I don't think this pallette is used anywhere else, but I could be wrong.

Sketchie: For the time being I've made it so you can slide down the platform into Iggy to knock him out of the center, so you dont need the fire flower to beat him.

That's quite clever. I could've never thought about sliding into Iggy to knock him off the platform. And yes, the Iggy fight seems a lot harder with that platform in the way and having to slide into him - but makes it more exciting.

I am looking forward to your hacks if you are planning any in progress. Keep up the great work.

I'm impressed with Mario 64 DS.

When the game came out, I immediately thought of the good ol' days with Mario 64... but this game returned with even more surprises than I've ever imagined. I really like how each character has their own style - such as Luigi can jump really high and Wario can destroy enemies a lot easier. And Yoshi? Wow, quite a change from all the 3 "Marios"!

The only gripe I have with the game is that Yoshi can't really defeat Bowser on his own without having to run around until one of the caps appears. Otherwise this is a good game, and the mini-games is a very nice touch.

[EDIT] Saw the post above with the box cover art(at least I thought it was a box cover when I first saw it ).

Are you sure you didn't stumble into some Mario hentai?

I think KNOW that Nintendo won't make such a game that involves excessive nudity and porno, so...

Anyway, back to the topic. I've seen some screenshots of the Peach DS game, and I'm still unsure if I want to get it... it may just be a "game for girls" but I'm not totally writing it off my list. We'll just have to see what it's like with further developments in the game.

Posted on 01-16-05 09:35 AM, in Like it or not, here comes a recovery tool for locked ROMs. Link
You can't really stop someone from making an "illegal" copy of a video game. It has been done for the NES. SNES. Sega Gensis. Game Boy. So on. People are making hacks of games. People are downloading ROMs off the net. And yes, the video game companies are losing money because of this.

But what can they really do? They've tried to shut down ROM sites, but there are still many out there. They can't really do anymore after that... but they will take serious action if someone is selling ROMs (although I've never seen/heard anyone try to sell ROMs, so I can't be 100% sure about that one.).

Blah, I feel like I'm giving a lecture.

And thanks for not including DW:TLC in the ROM unlocking program - that beautifully created ROM hack deserves to be left alone.

It's kinda hard to tell the difference between the blue background and the blue border.

Hm... you know what would be cool? Since you already have that border that somewhat resembles curtains, why not "copy" the SMB3 curtains into it? If you don't want to, maybe make your own curtains or something. Or even maybe a black line around the border to help people tell the difference between the blue background and the blue border.

Honestly, it looks a lot better in the emulator at full size.

After downloading and trying out the ROM, I just have to say one word.

INCREDIBLE!

And I mean it. Not a lot of the hacked ROMs has impressed me, to be honest. But this one... it just impressed me. And more.

The minute I started playing I wanted to play more until the very end of the demo. The level design itself is just so incredibly beautiful and awestricking.

And the story itself is also very impressive and interesting.

Could this be the "next" SMW:TLC?

But anyway, keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to the final verison!

First, it's DW:TLC. And second, TLC wasn't that great. It had a couple neat ASM hacks (Scrolling pipes, anyone?) and good use of graphics, however ripped. It may be a good hack, but SMO is already superior. Better ideas, better levels, and better ASM hacks. Although it could use the scrolling pipes.

Now that you mention it, it DOES look better than DW:TLC.

ROM hacks were eventually going to get better and better as time goes on, so. Hm, kinda makes me wonder what the future of ROM hacking would be like... hmmm... but anyway, I don't want to go off-topic with this anyway.

And I do hope BMF is still working on it.
