But making two separate models of the new console, then saying "Program the games like they (the HD's) aren't there, but use the hell out of them if they are." Where's the logic?

Colleen: I guess it's for the "poor man's new Xbox." *shrug* Personally, I'm kinda miffed that Microsoft is even contemplating making two separate models in the first place. Even moreso that you'll eventually need everything that comes with the fully loaded model in the first place (down the road anyway).

It seems like everything Microsoft sells is overpriced. Isn't XP still $200? And Office for that matter. Don't even need to ask about Visual Studios, I know that's still $1800.

If I had to place a guess, it's just a standard HD too. So if it is, just buy the cheap ass Xbox, a HD, and toss that in. If it isn't, the storage for that price is still too expensive. If it were 200 GB, then I could understand the price.

If an owner had a large staff and wanted to do an evalution of the entire staff, said owner could do a good moderation check by seeing which ones had closed threads. As we all know, not always is a post made when a thread is closed. It could have a line of "closed by x" that can't be removed or modified. And with that, there could also be a line of "opened by x" in a situation where the thread in question shouldn't have been closed.

I see this as a matter of doing the job that is given, because post count means everything, right Colleen?

I don't actually expect this idea to even be considered, but it's something to float out there for all to.....well...read.

I'm struggling to figure out how this has anything to do with the suggestion at hand.

That feature might be okay, but doesn't bring too much convenience.
It just can be misused - if it was about activity, even comparison in the "# of closed threads" might occur.

See end of post.

So people like FuSoYa would have pretty low numbers of closed threads, but since "activity" doesn't imply the pure number of posts and/or threads closed/moved/whatever (I know it - I moderated a bigger forum a longer time; hell I even got the job while I had the lowest post counter of all current moderators then ), this must not be a criteria. I still suggest posting an extra post like "I'm closing this thread." from a mod - it's the same effect though.
Does the moderators can close a thread while posting ?

Yes, look at the trash can, I can see a few threads on the first page like that.

I mean you have the normal reply window but a small check box which says something like "Close thread" - when you checked it and sumbitted your post, the board would close that thread after it automatically.
If yes, that feature anyway is useless ...

But in case of forums which existed only due to the creator's program and knowledge (like FuSoYa), there is no question in people, yes.

I'm not even sure where you are going with this...

Just it _could_ lead to a comparison and maybe moderators might be dropped out at a certain time, if someone saw "OMFG, modderator XYZ clozed ounly 25 threads, while mod !37 trahed off tem!!one"

That's an abuse of power which would indicate the morons that are participating shouldn't even be holding the position. If such a competition existed in the first place, all participating members should be thrown out. I can easily see why you would be worried about something that too. There's too many ways to be stupid already on the internet, and we don't need another one. (In no way, is that line sarcastic either).

Xkeeper and HyperHacker saw the point of my suggestion, to which I'm surprised. Usually nobody figures out what the hell I'm talking about when I type anything. =\

Legion: Are you unhappy that I suggested something that could keep tabs on the job you are doing?

YD: If I wanted to whore myself out for attention, I'd make multiple posts on every forum and hack the board to shit.

I only make suggestions that could be deemed useful in all situations, you don't have to agree, I get shot down enough by Xkeeper as it is. I always look to seek input, in this case, the input of the programmers and admins is key, but all is still welcomed.

OK, review time.... Let the chaos ensue:
  • The challenge factor is definately there. Stick with that. I'm on 1-8 and have had two game overs already.
  • Some stuff is too easy to find, other stuff is too hard to find (or too hard to get). Pretty drastic on the first world (I'm still on 1-8 btw). I have gotten 100% on two levels, and have barely broken 80 on a couple others. It's usually flowers that nab me too.
  • Transitions in levels between screens is pretty much "meh." I don't particularilly care about the going from normal, to jungle, to snow (and skiing while at it) back to jungle all in the same level. Gotta work on that.
  • I think there are enough cloud's with stars in them. And considering how easily you can get Star +20's in the game, this may be a waste. No cheating of any kind, just using what the game already has. (It should be fairly obvious what I'm referring to )

Not bad at all for starters. I'm quite impressed with what you did pull off, even if some elements need work. Good job, and I look forward to completing this playthrough in the next day or two.

Personally, I'm not concerned about it (at least not for myself). I haven't had the flu in at least 6 years. I'm a little more worried about my grandma, but she hasn't even stepped outside since November of '04. That shouldn't be a problem, but you never know. I'd be a little more worried about a friend of mine, who just because a father this past weekend. And given the trend, the flu will hit hard this year just as it has the past 3 or 4 years. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I seem to recall the US getting hit pretty damn hard with the flu, and being massively short on vaccine to counter it.

It's simple, avoid public contact if you can help it. Wash your damn hands. It's worked for me.

As I enter the RPG forum, I had 3-02 - Tyrano Castle playing, and without even seeing this thread yet. It just happened to be on the list... I can't believe that Chrono Trigger is ten years old already, doesn't seem that long.

Now onto this demo, which I'll be playing after I finish wrapping up the Yoshi's Island hack I just downloaded. (Two good hacks in one night? Must be a full moon out tonight...) I don't think I could possibly be disappointed. Reviews come tomorrow!

Well, I can make out a BFG and the sky, and that's about it.

As for the netplay, as much as I would want to join, my 19.2 connection will not let me. (Or 16.8, or 21.9, since it can't seem to make up its mind.) I'd so pwn everyone with double barrel shotgun, rocket launcher, or plasma rifle.

And I am intrigued about this "sequel." What game are the wads based off of? I'd assume Doom II or Final Doom, but one can never be sure. Every single custom pWad has been for Doom or Doom II, and that's because I didn't get Final Doom (TNT or Plutonia) until just last year. And that poses another question. If it's based on Final Doom, is it based on TNT or Plutonia?

Sniped for great frag.

My left pinky was dislocated in August of '95 (part of a very shitty year, but that's a story for another day). From the middle knuckle on up, the it points left, and is very noticeable. I can't straighten the finger out that easily. (I can if I force it, and it used to hurt when I did that.)

Something that looks like a surgery scar on the inner part of my right elbow, and I have no idea what it is. I don't remember ever having surgery for anything, this must of been when I was an infant.

A scar inbetween my thumb and index finger on my right hand. Happened in November of....'97? The Lion King was about to start, and I wanted to get a snack to watch it. During the extreme "nothing in terms of cash" times, I opened a can of canned peanut butter (tastes like shit too) and removed the lid. The lid went a good couple inches in, and it hurt like a bitch. No stitches (didn't have a phone, so couldn't tell anybody), and no lost thumb movement or functionality. Guess I was lucky. My thumb does get irritated easier now after bowling, it used to take 4 games. Now it only takes 2 games...

Broken bones: none.

Never hospitalized for anything, the only times I was there is because my brother was either having stitches inserted or removed. Although, when I was young (like 4 or 5, can't believe I even remember this), I did have an E.E.G. scan. Whatever the result of the test, I was never told, and my mom refuses to tell me what the results were. When I was 7, I also went in for a CAT scan. Again, I was never informed about the results...

Misc:
I'm a fucking insomniac and it pisses me off that I can't get to sleep when I'm tired.

I've been bit in the ass twice by two different dogs. This is over the span of about 5 years too.

--Edit--
I damn near lost my right eye due to a lawn dart. I was being somewhat careless, my brother launched the dart, and it hit the very edge of the socket, never touching the actual cornea. I think there's still a mark after all of this time too (this happened when I was 6 years old).

$1.50 a gallon? Pshaw, I can remeber the Exxon-Mobile merger, which brough the price of gas (here) to $.89 a gallon for a good 10 days or so. It would steadily hold on around $1.20 for a while.

Gas is now $2.59 here in the city, $2.69 in the suburbs. Although I haven't been there, most likely at $2.79 in Superior, Wisconsin (where it's always 5 to 10 cents more expensive than here). At this rate, it will be $3.00 a gallon for Labor Day. At this point, it's pointless to bet against it. I'm just wondering when it'll stop climbing, there has to be a high point eventually...

You're all either really biased or really stupid.

Oh really? Let's go over the grand list of console problems over the last few years.
Xbox 360: Will sell two different models, and games will most likely require goods from the "filled" model. We'll see.
PSP: Disc ejection in older models, Square button randomly does not work. 5000 units recalled earlier this year.
PS2: Lens will go faulty, and games will have a hard time being read, sometimes not affected, or will not work at all. A new model fixes this problem, (I think) and does not have support for the HD. At this point, FFXI cannot be played on a new model PS2.
Dreamcast: Somewhat bad controller design, and not really getting any games to aid the system. Although, it's Sega, and the console was doomed to fail anyway.
PS: Overheating on older models, I think there were 7 models of this system overall. Newer models don't have a periphial port, and will not allow game shark use (no lost sleep here).
Virtual Boy: ...existing.
N64: Not being a CD system, cartridge space quite limited compared to the competition. It would get an expansion pack that is used for some more intensive games (Donkey Kong, Perfect Dark, LoZ: Majora's Mask, etc). This does not include the add-ons that the US never saw, and were only sold in Japan. (They bombed that badly I guess).

Was I supposed to point all that out to make my point about Microsoft making a bad busniess decision? I thought pointing out somewhat obvious information was considered spam, and you guys don't like that? You complain for the sake of complaining, Yiffy Kitten...
