Is the GBS format not being worked on anymore (i.e. Is anyone ripping things from GB ROMs anymore for that sole purpose)? The files that I've found on Zophar have been out of date by about two and a half years and I fail to see how it could've died off that fast with what could've been a...well...really good addition to my media library.
I was under the impression that it was waiting for someone to break through with something really good. I guess that never happened. Then again, I'm still waiting on the new GYM format that was supposed to be out last year too.

Now I would do it myself but uhm...I'm not quite skilled in that area, hence why I'm asking it now, given I don't know anything / don't have any specification / too lazy. Pick and choose.

Indeed, I know the feeling.

Is anyone still working on these? Or am I looking at a lost cause? I mean I could easily load a ROM and log the sound output but I figured that maybe I'd find a better way by asking here.

To my knowledge, no. But then again, I don't go everywhere trying to find out everything. Someone could be, and I more than likely won't know about it.

(but yes, it only accepts ZIPs because ZIP is the more known format, and I'm trying to go so it works for everyone... besides, the differences in such small files don't matter that much)

Thanks. Do me a favor and slap windwaker upside the head. He said that it'll do ALL FORMATS, which is why I made it a rar format. And yes, I did ask... =\

For that matter, when's my e-dick going to be magically larger? 22 inches is not enough! I must have feet and feet of e-dick! I am not cool enough until everything goes my way and I have everything! [sarcasm]

If you want it done that bad, get the files together, and give it to them. Although, chances are, there are other things that they are worrying about.

I used floppies from 1995 (when I first started using computer's) til 2002. When other tools became available to me, (and they don't fail like floppies often do) I just stopped using floppies.

--Edit--
Well, if there is ever a reason why I need to fire up Partition Magic or Disk Image, then I have use floppies. But until my OS dies, or until I get a new OS, that isn't going to happen.

Yay, I have more movies. They can all be found here. By far the best ones are the MMX1 and Super Metroid runs. I did waste some time in SM though, about 3 or 4 minutes collectively.

Of course, there's always the MMX2, 2 for MMX3, and SMW (why did I make that?).

I plan on adding more to that list. At the very least, some form of SMW2: YI movie, LoZ: LttP, DKC1 and DKC2. I can't do DKC2 until it is emulated properly. If I feel good enough, I might try a Uniracers or Super Punch Out movie.

Enjoy the movies, should you care enough.

Oh man! The race! That was awesome! Between the Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, Mario & Luigi, Wario, CHiPs, Batman & Robin, and more! Mad props to Burt Reynolds for the guest shot in that one.

Third ep = the best, and it's not even close!

I didn't write the main code for this, though I did mess around with it a bit, and created junk.txt, though every time I compile it with MinGW, it crashes.

Change the "if((in = fopen...))" line to:

in = fopen("junk.txt", "r");

then

if(!in)
{
puts("Couldn't open! Thou sucks!");
}

See if that helps

Does ANYONE else think this movie looks fucked up? I had a feeling Tarentino might have something to do with it. I first saw the preview for it when I saw Cursed earlier this week, but didn't see his name. Saw Hostage tonight (good movie btw) and his name appeared as a guest director. Actually, there's like 3 guest directors. But seeing the preview though, it looks crazier than Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill...

Oh, and then there's the fact that the movie starts on April 1...

11/40 on the NES quiz, 12/40 on the SNES quiz.
4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 17, 24, 25, 38, and 39 correct for the NES.

As for #30, Xenophobe stuck out at me, but it's wrong...

1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 13, 15, 20, 25, 34, and 35 correct for the SNES.

And now I'm stuck...

Wait...nobody here cares about a FF2 utility... *shrug* Does not matter, progress anyway!

This is a new feature that I'm working on, and one I hope other utilities pick up on. *cough* Right now, I have everything working up to this point, and the text blanking is all that remains. I'm having a hard time on how I want to approach the text blanking. Right now, it's just the names I'm blanking (doing this in order). My first approach was to blank each section of data, although it was a hardcoded section.

Bad.

My second approach was based on the pointers, but my calculations might be off and blanking could stop too early/late based on a fluke. (I would be blanking an entire section based on pointer calculations, which could cause a fluke blanking.) I'm thinking on trying another approach based on the pointer calculations, so hopefully it works out.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know where Jade stands right now.

BTW, after clearing the maps, are you recompressing everything and freeing space?

My method of clearing the maps is like so:
The map data: (whatever tile is selected) + 0x80 (to signify compression), 00 (run of 255 tiles), 0xFF (end of the run)

The pointers are also adjusted to match this, so you can have an entire world of one tile. The auto-map looks really plain after that too.... :p After that, every byte from the end of the new map until it's original end is all set to 0. Stops at 0x7C4E, then there's some data I haven't figured out yet. Could be more overworld map data (pre Pandemonium and post Pandemonium most likely)

Are by any chance 'x. char. joins the party' scripts embeeded in the main dialogue script? Or are they hardcoded?
Man, this is really getting interesting. Congration.

Hardcoded most likely. I never saw any oddball bytes in the dialogue.

To be honest, I thought that was a prank when I first saw that quote a couple years ago. Then after seeing that screenshot, I thought it was along the lines of AYB.

I guess there's a difference between "Punch Out!" and "Mike Tyson's Punch Out!" because I never saw that in the latter.

#33 of the NES seemed like Fist of the North Star, but once again, wrong. No clue on 2, 3 looks familiar, and I don't know why! I only remember 6 from Yoshi Dude's layout... :p (That image I mean, not the game itself). #8 seems Terminator/Robocop-ish, but I couldn't pinpoint it. No idea on 11, 13, or 14. #15 seemed like Silent Scope, but wrong. #16 does seem like Ice Climbers, but it won't accept it... #18 looks to FUBAR'ed... No idea on #19, 20, or 21. Can't pinpoint #23. No clue on #28. #29 kinda looks like Mother/Earthbound. Still no idea on #30. #32 kinda looks like Snake Rattle n Roll, but I know it's not. No idea from then on til Metroid (38), and I don't know the last one.

So yeah...

The movie suffers from "Standard Sequel Syndrome." I never even liked the first one to begin with, and never had plans to watch the second. I guess I win in that regard. Go watch Hostage instead.
