Blizzard has opened up the World of Warcraft site that they will be using as the hub between them and the beta players. It will most likely be your central source for World of Warcraft info for the game, aside from blizzard's official site. As you probably already know. WoW is NOT based on Battle.Net, unlike their previous titles. Think of this new World of Warcraft site as the equivilant of Battle.net, in terms of a source for information about the game. Once the beta is over that is, for now it will also serve as the hub for beta players.

The shading is pretty inconsistant.... Looks like it was just slapped in for looks, but when you look at the different angels, you see a lot of places where they don't match.

They've got the server up since last night according to the status icons on the site. Though all of the players on it are blizzard staff doing some final checks. Like Colleen said,I expect to hear some sort of word from Blizzard on when the beta starts, this week. But remember they'll be sending the acceptance e-mails first. After you get one of those it's smooth sailing. Right now everyone is just praying they actually get in.

*Yarx prays for his acceptance e-mail

A quote from the blizzard forums by the community manager... (March 17th)

We are currently moving the Alpha Testers onto the Beta Server. This helps test the Account Creation process as well as the server in general.

Each of the syndromes were made because one of the board members reached that rate of posting. Appropriately, each syndrome is named after that same person. So none of them are "unattainable" just need the right motivation, like New Years :-) Well, that and lots of active threads

No email for me yet. I hope I'm in one of those later "batches". If I don't get in, and you guys do. You can just kiss my rosy @$$. You had better share some info if one of you guys get in.

Ok, first thing... Jesper, I hate you. Tom, I hate you too. I want your PC's.
You know, no offence Jesper. But you are so freaking spoiled.
I think the person with the system closest to mine is Colleen.

Operating System: WinXP Professional SP1
CPU: Athlon 2500+ (~1.8GHz I used to have it overclocked but it was kind of unstable)
Hard Disk: 1x80Gb, 1x 40Gb, 1x 30Gb (Total: 150Gb)
Drives: 8x8x32x CD-RW
Monitor: AOC Spectrum 19"
Memory: 2x512Mb (Dual Channel Kingston)
Graphics: nVidia GeForce4 TI 4800 SE
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
Motherboard: A7N8X nForce 2.0 SPP (Ultra 400)
Internet: 8 Port Router on faster than average Cable
TV Card: Hauppauge PCI card (Usind DScalar)
Peripherals: Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro (Discontinued) and a Logitech Optical wheel mouse.
Internet: 8 Port Router on faster than average Cable

Other stuff to my machine, a new powersupply and a much better CPU heatsink/fan.... motherboard has LOTS of connections in the back, 2xRJ45 sockets, 2xfirewire, 6xusb (though only 4 are in now, the other 2 is an expansion card I leave out)

K, I'm done. Oh and again, hate goes out to Jesper and Tom, though mainly Jesper.

Never really had that as an issue. Though as a rule of thumg, never try to bend your neck to any extreme after waking up, give it a few min first

Though I've had my limbs fall asleep a MANY times. Usually it'll be something funny, like sitting down at the computer with my legs crossed and streched out in a way that the lower one gets numb after a while. All of a sudden I'll have to get up for something like the phone, or door bell, and when I get up to put weight on that leg, it can't hold it. It gives out and I go crashing to the floor. It literally feels like a wooden peg from the hip down that beds uncontrollably in the middle. Hehe

Actually, it's a special kind of translucency done with pixels. The reason I say this, is if you put that image in a web browser and use select it as you would text, the bra portion disappears completly. It's a relativly well known trick to hide images within images as well.

Posted on 03-22-04 02:35 PM, in LAN Link
Ok, I need to step in as well.

Firstly, LAN is just a term people use to describe the a collection of two or more computers connected in a way that allows them to transfer data from one to another. Both are usually in the same same "subnet". You don't really need to care about the subnet part unless you get into netowking in detail. Also, you do not need DHCP to setup a LAN. I don't know where that idea came from, all you need are unique IP's to the PC's. First of all, Windows assigns a non-routable IP if there is no DHCP server available on your connection. And secondly, it's easy as pie to set the ip yourself. Just make sure that each IP you set is different. If you want to play WC3 on a LAN... You have one of two choices.

1) Setup your own LAN. Requires a HUB, more than 1 computer, and both computers have to have a Network Card and 2 cables to go from each PC to the HUB (usually Cat-5)

2) Grab one of the free tools on the net that allow you to creeate a virtual LAN over the net, such as lancraft, or battlelan. They have instructions that should tell you what you need to doin order to play a warcraft 3 game using the LAN option.

Hope this helps.

I think the one thing holding back the RPG maker series more than anything is the tileset limitations. That's the one thing that I never liked about it.

This should be in Officer's Club. As for how you should live you're life, you live how you feel fit. No one can tell you how you should live your life. they can tell you how they live theirs, and you can change your lifestyle accordingly, but there is no socialistic ideal how everyone should live.

I was thinking about doing this some time ago, though I never really followed up on it. I was going to code in IM support. So you could essentially have the board notify you of events using your IM screen name. Say some one replies to your thread, you might get a message in AIM saying so. Maybe You setup some logic to message you when someone registers using an IP that some one else also has. Have it message you on MSN. Each of these messages might send a URL as well for quick access to view the event in question. I've also though of putting in some sort of message parsing system, so you could type in a response. For example... You make a new thread, and set it up to be monitored. Someone replies, and it messages you on ICQ. So you go read their reply. Then you get another messafe about a reply, and another. So you type into the message window something along this line....
"Notice Thread 2453 Off"
And it would no longer send you IM's about that tread. This was my idea anyways. Now that I'm getting some experience with proramming windows apps using sockets, I might follow up on this. but not for a while....
