| Even if in some alternate dimension there was more than one DahrkDaiz running around, and each one had already made a SMB3 overhaul, this one would still be called "The Next SMB3 Overhaul". | |||

| The lollipops have slopes on the sides. Stand in the middle. They're like that on purpose, it just takes a little getting used to. You can't expect everything to be easily mastered on the first try, can you? EDIT: Oh, and if you need more practice on them (and this goes out to everyone) and you don't want to die getting it, the Candy Village has a a couple of lollipops. Practice getting used to them, there. (edited by Juggling Joker on 04-13-04 08:38 PM) |

| Easy there, Zerodius. I don't think the invisible blocks are hard to find, they're all in easy to find locations, at least I think so. Hint: If there's a jump that you can't make vertically, an invisible block is in the nearby vicinity. I will release an easier version when enough parts that are just too hard are pointed out. On the list: 1. Lollipops not so difficult to navigate 2. Shorter jumps in the warehouse 3. Not as many enemies in key parts 4. Less obscure invisible blocks Anything else that needs to be added, let me know. |

| Can you think of any specific parts where the enemies were just too annoying? I know of a Thwomp that is just brutal unless you're good at landing on the edge of a block, but nothing else is coming to mind. | |||

| Hmm, that's a curious bug. I thought I had eliminated all walls that did that. It used to be that you could spin jump into pretty much every wall if you timed it right, or use slopes to jump backwards into walls. The reason was because I made the walls act like the connecting peice of a slope, but with a left or right only block applied. This way I could have slopes that ended at a drop off. I've since fixed the problem for most walls, but it appears I forgot one. Thanks! EDIT: And verified. I'll release the fixed patch in a couple of minutes. I'll touch up a couple of other problems while I'm at it, such as the beginning stage and the thwomp. (edited by Juggling Joker on 04-13-04 10:11 PM) |

| Another good catch. Maybe I should ask you to beta test for me next time... The regular switch blocks look the same when you hit them. Of course, THEY actually display in the same color as the block they temporarily replaced. Easy to fix. Good thing I was making one final check before I released the fixed version. Thanks a bundle, Blisseh. PS: Please keep the entrance to the switch palace secret. ![]() (edited by Juggling Joker on 04-13-04 10:54 PM) |

| Shush shush! Palace secret! And yes, I should've noticed that myself. I also didn't fix the door or the other message box you mentioned. I'm a doofus sometimes. They will be fixed if any more significant problems are brought to my attention. |

| The spike traps, as I like to call them, are indeed very hard, but you will get better with time. And I went out of my way to make sure you at least has a powerup before each one, just in case you haven't mastered it yet. I will definitely consider moving them apart a little bit, though. The cheep cheep pit is also cheap (heh heh), so I will work on fixing it as well. And I meant to increase the time on the maze, but I forgot. How does an extra 150 seconds sound? Not enough or too little? About the factory, nope, there isn't a secret exit. There is a secret room, though. Also, there's a POW that I hid that you could use to make certain parts of the level easier if you're having trouble. I've also been thinking about adding some Heart blocks under key jumps to make them easier if you have the switch palace. One thing that I forgot to mention earlier is that if you really want to challenge yourself (more than you already have, apparently), try to get the Dragon coins in each level. Some are easy, but some are downright impossible to complete unless you know the levels perfectly. |

| There's probably some location in the ROM that determines what number to display the star on, but I don't know where it is. | |||

| I never apply crazy filters on my screenshots. It just looks more natural in the raw, pixel form. | |||

| If you missed the previous threads, go here and follow the links. With the first demo released, you probably expected me to take it easy for a while. Oh how wrong you were! I've already started work on the next tileset, which is getting close to completion as we speak. I expect the next world (which is really just a connection point between the candy world and another world) will be done in a couple of weeks or maybe a month, depending on how things go for me. I'll be out of school for the summer soon, so production will probably have picked up by then. Pointless rambling aside, the actual new tileset. Keep in mind it is still in the early stages, and things are likely to change. I'm looking for helpful comments and insight that will really make this tileset grand. And the quickest one to boot, if I get enough input. I should probably mention it is intended to be a sort of oil drenched waste land. The background is definitely going to be spruced up quite a bit, and texture will be added to the sides of the platform dealies. Any additional comments are always appreciated. | Trust me, all the tilesets make sense. It's likely that this isn't what you meant, but I like to clear things up before they become misconceptions. Anyhow, work on the tileset progresses smoothly. Here you can see the oil pumps, and the new textured platforms. They aren't exactly new, seeing as how they're just a modification of platform sides I've already made, but that isn't unexpected. Everything is the same style, after all. Also, the surface of the oil and the falling oil is animated, and I think you will be pleased with the results. I know I am. Work on the background is still being done, but I don't expect it to become much more complicated than it is now. Backgrounds are better when they aren't as detailed, I think. |

Hopefully the newer barrels address your concern, Kirby. I thought they looked flat myself, but I wanted someone else to notice it first before I fixed it. Don't fix what ain't broke, ya know? Also, you can see that I editted the cactuses in the same shot, too. It didn't make much sense for everything to be drenched in oil but them, so I added some oil to the top. Finally, I changed the connectors for the oil pipes so they didn't look so flat and uninteresting. The tileset is almost done, so try to identify any other potential problems before I start on designing levels. Questions and comments are always welcome. So.... how are the individual counters coming along, Coby? ![]() I might submit my oil tileset when I finish it, but I don't know yet. Thoughts, anyone? |

This is pretty much the final version of the tileset. Everything not pictured such as the cactus has not changed nor do I think it likely to. Please identify any potential problems with the set now, and I'll see what I can do to fix it. Also, I've been considering releasing this tileset just like I released the Winter Village. Would anyone make use of this in their hack? Besides me, of course. ![]() |

| To put it bluntly, put up or shut up. I don't necessarily require screenshots before I download it, but it would be nice. Also, being able to actually download it would be even nicer. Edit: Damn, I was hoping my 100th post would have been worthwhile... (edited by Juggling Joker on 04-21-04 08:50 PM) |
