Well, I hope that no one is waiting for a full version. It might be another couple years before that happens. Though, I gotta admit, I've learned a lot in the last year or so about level design, graphics design, et cetera. Now, I can pump out a decent tileset in a couple days (if my mind is set on it, and I have everything planned out beforehand), and a decent level in one. So who knows, the next demo might be out sooner than I think.

I'm really looking forward to this. My friend and I had loads of fun trying to complete Mario Adventure (we eventually used some cheat codes to finish off the last couple stages...). We actually burned it onto a disk and emulated in on the Dreamcast, so I actually got to experience in on a real TV, which was quite an experience, I can tell you.

This version seemed easier. Keep that up.

And the overworld glitched after I beat the second castle. It wasn't a major glitch, and it was only one little section of the overall map. I didn't use a savestate or anything wacky like that from a previous version either.

A good argument is healthy, and since they haven't reduced themselves to personal insults and baseless attacks yet (hint hint, Blisseh), I say leave it open.

Search for level addresses in the help file, it will list addresses that aren't accessed in the normal level list. I wouldn't really recommend editting them, though, because the size is very likely to change and thus seriously mess things up if you aren't careful. There might be a way to change the pointers to avoid this, but I'm not aware of a method.

EDIT: When I say search, I mean use Index or Find. Not manually search through each file.

Actually, you can save it. (Do all this after opening a blank level) First, get the levels address and open it. Save the level, but change the address saved to to the levels origional address. Then, the area will have a level # that you can go to and edit. Enjoy!

That's true, yes. But what you don't realize is that if the new level is larger than the old one, it's going to leak over into level data after that. Which will seriously mess things up if you aren't careful.

A small bug that I probably should have brought up before now but didn't... :

The save button does not become activated when you import a palette from file. So what, you say. It also does not prompt you to save when you switch to another level unless you change something else afterwards. Very aggrivating when you forget that it does that.

I know that I can save a level still, Atma, when I remember that it isn't going to ask me to save when I jump to a different one.

That's assuming they stop whenever they hit a sprite, which hasn't been concluded yet.

Though, there might be a way to create the sprite that we DO know they'll stop on when they hit, and changing the 8x8 tiles it uses to blank tiles. Crude, but effective.

Grab it here while it's still hot. You will need Winzip to open it. Please let me know if you have any problems with the download. [FIXED PATCH]

Anyhow, the demo takes you through the first world, six levels in total. Everything is candy themed, like you would expect. I have altered everything but sprites and the basic Mario elements such as coins and question blocks. Please keep criticism civil (I'm looking at you, Blisseh). Questions and comments are, as always, welcomed. So what're you waiting for? Download it already!

Yes, difficulty. Difficulty is always a problem with a self-made, self-tested hack, though I did have a couple testers but they didn't mention it was too hard. Do you have any specific parts that you consider too hard? I would like to at least consider making them easier.

Small graphical oversights will be fixed, so thank you for pointing them out for me. You didn't mention the one I did notice on my last playthrough right before I made this thread, though. I'll leave that to others to find. I didn't notice the candy-cane at the start, however, so thanks. On the subject of the message box, it wasn't really supposed to represent Mario's thoughts, thus I didn't even think to make it different for Bowser's message. I'll consider changing it.

Grammar... well grammar never really was my strong suit. Please tell me about any other errors, grammatically or otherwise, that you notice.

The door is three blocks wide, he's gonna be off no matter what.

More time on the candy maze, gotcha. Though you do get quicker on each play through (there's only one right path, after all), perhaps I could be more forgiving.

Please, people, if a part is too hard, tell me. It isn't my job to make your hands bleed from effort. I want this hack to be enjoyable. The warehouse has been pinged as too hard already by other sources, so don't bother mentioning that. Same goes for the maze.

Also, there are plenty of extra lives for the taking, if you know all the tricks and grab all the coins.
