Microsoft finished up their press conference a little while ago. Points of interest:

- EA and Microsoft officially entered into a deal that will see most EA Sports games (still iffy on NHL 2005 actually, there was no confirmation on that one) and some regular EA games be playable on Xbox Live. This *is* big news.
- Halo 2's release date has been set for November 9. My guess is that it slips back a week. But seriously, I can't see Microsoft slip on it again.
- The only other news tidbit coming out is the announcement of Forza Motorsport, which is apparently Microsoft's attempt to trump Sony's Gran Turismo series.

I think they also showed off Doom III of course. Not sure.

Oh, speaking of that...

No Bioware announcement by Microsoft tonight unless the press conference is still going on. You'd think that *if* they acquired them, they'd announce it tonight.

I'd LOVE to see Wales in the tournament, Elmo... But I don't know. This is really an icky case from all I've read.

I think if he was ineligible, then it should be a 3-0 default win to Wales... But wasn't he out for one of the matches?

No, a fanboy is someone who praises one system and trashes the others exclusively.

Breaking news... The official name for the Nintendo DS... is the Nintendo DS. Well, that's interesting. Obviously DS = Dual Screen.

Some leaks from Nintendo's booth... including Mario Party Advance (GBA), Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA) and Advance Wars: Under Fire (GC). Pictures of the "instruction sheets" were leaked tonight. Still no DS leaks, so you know that Nintendo isn't setting up the WHOLE booth just yet.

Minish Cap is being developed by Flagship/Capcom (Oracle of Ages/Seasons), there was a rumor about this the other week.

For some reason, all I get is the GameFAQs banner when visiting the message boards.

This has, by the way, gone on ever since they were upgraded. So I'm basically shut out of them.

There'll likely be screenshots tomorrow, either after Nintendo's press conference or at midnight Pacific.

...Why are you guys going "EW" over it? It looks fine. For some reason I see the touch screen being used in a PDA application though.

Wait to see what games they show - *IF* the demo unit's any indication, there's a new Mario Kart on the list. But that just might be a mockup.

EDIT: And didn't you notice the GBA compatibility (not a replacement my butt...) and wireless gaming features?

More breaking news... Sony announced an immediate price drop for the PS2. It's now at $149.

Kitten Yiffer: With a stylus. One of those pens you use with PDA's.

Decided to watch the Nintendo press conference since Nintendo was kind enough to post a link. Highlights...

- The main GC titles seem to be Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Resident Evil 4 and Starfox (which didn't look that bad this time around - mix of action, adventure and shooting).
- Advance Wars: Under Fire seems to be more of a real-time strategy game - or perhaps an action game. It looked pretty nice although I had an Army Men vibe. But that should pass.
- The DS was heavily pushed - add in a built-in microphone and wi-fi capability to the list of features. They then showed demos of a Mario title and a Metroid title (which might have led to the loudest cheer of the press conference) that looked great. It basically looked like a portable Metroid Prime. And yes, they showed PDA stuff and interviews from a lot of developers. They're definitely serious about this baby. Release date should be before Christmas in NA/Japan, Q1 2005 in Europe/Australia.
- Finally, before the conference ended, they showed one more game... the new Zelda. Bye-bye cel shading. Definitely looked like a more "mature" Zelda title with lots of horse riding and realistic terrain. Miyamoto then came out to promote the title by wielding a sword and shield.

I'd be behind Milly 100% if he was to come back. I think that a lot of us would be as well.

I don't think you have to do all the work around here, Milly, but you have to make your presence known. If there's something that you don't like, state that. If you want a certain feature to be worked on or want a staff change, state that as well. You have a lot of respect here and I know that virtually everyone on staff would listen if you spoke up.

I mean... look at the title of the board. Not so much the slogan, but the first two words on the top. I'd like to see it remain like that, and I'd hope that you would as well.

I'd actually rank the press conferences as follows:

1) Nintendo
2) Microsoft
3) Sony

I dunno... Like I said to my friends, Sony could have still shown more on the PSP if they're serious on taking over the console market. MS had its flagship titles and the EA announcement to carry them.

Not a huge fan... tuna's always good in a sandwich though. And I don't mind the Captain's sole.

Aside from that though... ew. Icky smell and taste. I hate the texture of salmon...

Yeah, I've looked at it but that community... Ew. I'm sure there's some good people in the bunch but it's rather an eclectic mix. And those aren't always good.

You're a bit behind the times though.

And yes Fyxe alot of dont see Celda as a real Zelda game.

...I don't think most gamers would agree with you there.

Then again, lots of people who say that are the ones who think that graphics make the game. Riiiiiight.
