I can buy the gun thing since it's Shadow and we still don't exactly know the storyline of the game.

Of course, if Sonic and friends were all packing heat... then I'd be a little worried as to the sanity of Sega's development team.

Two other bits of info about it from GameSpot... or two "features".

Marketplace: Browsable by game, by genre, and in a number of other ways, the Marketplace will provide a one-stop shop for consumers to acquire episodic content, new game levels, maps, weapons, vehicles, skins and new community-created content.

Micro-transactions: Breaking down barriers of small-ticket online commerce, micro-transactions will allow developers and the gaming community to charge as little as they like for content they create and publish on Marketplace. Imagine players slapping down $.99 to buy a one-of-a-kind, fully tricked-out racing car to be the envy of their buddies.

...Why do I have the feeling there'll be some sort of iTunes-like store to boot on top of all this?

Considering I haven't heard anything about it through the news, my guess would be that it's a contained outbreak or maybe only centralized in one climatic region.

I already had it when I was 6 but I wouldn't be too concerned. Mine never really was that bad to begin with...

Now that I think about it, March 16th would have been a better date for the board anniversary to fall on.

Reason? Student strike.

Great, SomerZ. Make me do the stats on the Spanish teams.

2004/05: NONE!
2003/04: 2 (Real Madrid, Deportivo)
2002/03: 3 (Real Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona)
2001/02: 3 (Barcelona, Real Madrid, Deportivo)
2000/01: 3 (Real Madrid, Deportivo, Valencia)
1999/00: 3 (Real Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona)
1998/99: 1 (Real Madrid)
1997/98: 1 (Real Madrid)
1996/97: 1 (Atletico Madrid)
1995/96: 1 (Real Madrid)
1994/95: 1 (Barcelona)

(There were no QF's from this point; the 8 remaining teams were thrown into two groups with the winners facing each other in the final. Since 8 teams = a typical QF... I'll go on.)

1993/94: 1 (Barcelona)
1992/93: NONE!

So there you go. That's a hell of a record tossed out the window.

SomerZ: I wouldn't underestimate Lyon. I saw part of the game last night and they totally demolished Werder. They had a ton of confidence and were oozing skill... I'm not saying they're dark horses to take the title but they're going to give someone problems in the next round.

My predictions for the random draw on Friday...

Chelsea vs. AC Milan - Would definitely be the tie of the round. Milan saw off Man U relatively easily but Chelsea showed a lot of character in their (AWESOME) game against Barca yesterday. Would be a treat to watch.
Juventus vs. winner of FC Porto/Inter Milan - It's no Juve/Milan or Milan/Inter but it would still be a huge match in Italy - that is, if Inter don't mess up against Porto. Plus the prospect of a semi-final against AC Milan for either team would still be possible.
Bayern Munich vs. Liverpool - So, Liverpool think that they're destined to win the CL now, hm? Putting them up against Munich would be a hell of a way to prove whether or not they can consistently pick up their game in Europe.
Lyon vs. PSV Eindhoven - This would be the typical "game that doesn't receive coverage but turns out to be quite entertaining" choice in the field.

If those turned out to be true, whoever wins between Chelsea/Milan takes it all.

Super Circuit is a fine MK game although I have a hard time controlling the karts with my joystick. Then again, I was playing it on my Celeron 300 with the keyboard at 40-50% speed as well so...

Plus at least it was *skill* that allowed you to unlock all the track goodies.

I'm trying to figure out how many seconds the clock's dropping each day. I think somewhere in the range of 15-20 seconds, which is *quite* the drop.

I've heard varying opinions about that match. I think it all depends how patient you are when it comes to long matches.

There's a flawed perception out there that any match which goes long is automatically good. While a lot of good matches usually aren't 7-8 minutes long, there are some which hover around the 10-15 minute mark and are quite entertaining, if not great. And then sometimes I see a comment like "They went 50 minutes, it's gotta be good" which makes me roll my eyes.

I dunno if the game's going to be horrible or anything, although Sega is due to put out a really good Sonic game soon. It's going to be strange though, there's no doubt.

You have NO idea how screwy the board would be if that happened. XD

Maybe a script could be done for the ACS that counts all posts in a 24-hour period that isn't based on server time... *head explodes*

Ah, you're right. Before I posted I checked UEFA's website and they said this Friday, but now they changed it.

Both AC Milan and Inter Milan were drawn away in the first leg, so they were both at home for the second leg - and UEFA doesn't allow the same field to be used twice in two days. Inter drew the Wednesday game so they got moved.

How about a manual one? Click "start" at midnight my time and "restart" at midnight the following night.

Either that or we just all stop posting and pretend like the board's frozen - just like the archive.

Well, by that token the common cold's been a pandemic for as long as I remember.

Eh, Canada has enough vaccine to take care of us and some third-world countries so we're fine.

Um... I thought that this craze died after it was introduced many moons ago. And I thought I had a decent character too... Course, I probably wouldn't have the code around - either it's buried on this board or lost on the last one.

Yeah but then some of the randomness is taken out of the draw by saying, for example, "AC Milan's first, so we'll draw their opponent to start... now we'll draw Inter's opponent..."

It's gonna happen again if they both end up on opposite sides of the QF draw.
