Apparently it was but then it just turned into a GIF wankfest.
...A rankset based on Superstar Saga would be a VERY good idea though. |

Now I don't even want to know what those people on Christmas Island are interested in. Talk about destroying the image of a perfectly quaint little place.
...Then again, if anyone actually WENT there to research the infamous .cx site... |

- FuSoYa is pretty much a figurehead local mod, and I'll give you that much, but it would be stupid not to have the creator of Lunar Magic as a local mod of the SMW forum. Even if he was demoted to a regular user, he'd still have a mod spot there.
- There's nothing hypocritical going on here at all. First off, the committee looked at each staff member on a case-by-case basis. I certainly didn't go into the meeting with a list of people I wanted gone. It was not a "so-and-so wants him gone so that's how it's going to go" thing; we reached consensus on the issue. That's what you're not understanding - there were 6 people in the room and the final decision was that nobody raised any objections to the full demote.
We knew going into this that we were going to piss off people. If we didn't want to do that, then the staff wouldn't have gotten any smaller and the whole process would have been a waste of time. Some people understood what happened and in some cases took it extremely well, and I'm happy to see that. And there are others, like yourself, who didn't. I think we expected that.
- There weren't just too many admins; there were too many staff members period. We needed to get the staff down to a level which was acceptable, while still making sure that we had a lot of active members who are willing to contribute when it comes to board issues and will do their job. If I'm running a company and I only need 20 programmers and have 30, I need to lay off 10 people. None of them are going to like it, I don't expect any of them to like it, but that's how things have to be.
- Lenophis: Post count != status but it's an excellent indicator, at first glance, of seeing how active a particular staff member is. Of course, there's other factors to consider; for example, if the staff member isn't that active but does visible administrative work and contributes to staff forums (or communicates with other mods/admins via IM's/PM's when needed) then that's certainly acceptable as well. After 3 years here, you can figure this stuff out and get a sense of who's doing what.
- Finally... I'm just going to cut and paste from your profile, Tom.
Since I'm "Unfit" to be on staff, I deem this board "Unfit" due to the faoritism played by "The Triumvirate" (Colleen, Anya and Hiryuu). Even Rydain, someone highly deserving of her position, and who does FAR more admin work than Anya, was demoted.
First off, we were of agreement that Rydain could be promoted back to admin in the near future. It happened faster than we expected, but nobody was shutting the door on her; I was one of the people who said that we NEEDED her on staff in some capacity, be it full mod or admin. I was fully willing to accept either possibility, but she wasn't going lower than full mod.
Secondly, if myself/Anya/Hiryuu held the power on the board, we'd have three admins in that group - not two. And there's no plans at the present time to promote Hiryuu to admin status, we're fine on that front. We might share views on some subjects, yes; but in no way does that make us all-powerful and the like.
It's not about whining, it's about respect. And if Colleen and Anya and Hiryuu can't respect me, then I don't want to be around them. I am (was, I suppose) a senior admin. And I was demoted by junior staff. Backstab, anyone~?
When did I ever come out and say that I don't respect you? Before today, I respected you. I wasn't demoting you out of hatred or anything, it was just because that had to be done. You did the board a great service in the past and we're grateful to you for doing so... but at the same time, posting stuff like this is the worst way of handling the situation. Personally, I thought you may have been able to show a little more tact in this scenario; hell, if you had just PMed/IMed me or any of the other admins and asked why you were demoted, we would have been happy to sit down with you and discuss it.
And the whole senior admin theory is BS. By that logic, Danicess would still be an admin today even if she's sadly vanished off the face of the earth. I don't think there was or should be any immunity regarding long-time staff members; if I vanished for 4+ months, I'd fully expect to be demoted when I came back. I wouldn't be doing what I was supposed to be doing.
As far as I (and the staff from what I've seen) is concerned, you're not doing yourself any favors by acting like this. That's not a threat or anything, but if you're disappointed... fine. It's one thing to be disappointed, it's another thing to act childish and defensive. |

I think any chance Tom might have had of retaining a staff spot on appeal was pretty much pissed away with how he's handled the discussion so far. There's the right way and the wrong way, and throwing out statements designed to turn people against one another isn't the right way. So as far as I'm concerned, the staff should stay as is at the moment not because of anything that's been said in the thread, but because of how things have been going down.
Just a few quick thoughts before I head to school.
Krel: I think it was a very bad call on your part to post the log, which was meant to be a private log in order that... and this is key... no bitching or anything of the short would happen. That being said, I'll agree with you on one point - people were going to be hurt by this. Like I said, if we took everyone's feelings into account, we'd have gone from a large staff to a bloated staff. That just can't work.
Tom: Oh lord, where the hell do I begin...
- Anya and Hiryuu having an affair? *laughs* God, I think that might beat some of Manda's lies right there. That's rich. - You're talking as if having 6 people discussing this was a bad thing. If we had opened it up to all 33 staff members, we'd NEVER get anything done. People would be fighting to keep their staff positions all of a sudden and you'd end up with some pretty bad blood regardless. The larger the group, the harder it is to meet because of time zones and other commitments; and Hiryuu had Acmlm's blessing to do this. He said several times that if Milly didn't approve of it or didn't come to the meeting, the whole deal was off. We weren't doing this without Acmlm being able to have a say or at the very least see what was going on. - Emuz has no reason to be "pissed" that Rydain was demoted. I haven't gotten that impression from him at all in the staff forums, and he has agreed on some of our points. - You're not "blowing the whistle" on me or anything; the fact that you've suddenly come up with the "Anya + Colleen + Hiryuu = clique" argument suggests to me that you're just trying to take as many people down with you as you can - which isn't going to happen. Furthermore, there's no reason for it to happen.
Finally... The posting of the log, as I said, wasn't a good call because there was no reason to post it. It boggles my mind how we cannot keep ONE THING private on the board - and I'm referring to past instances as well here. Yeah ||bass, I'm pissed, but not for the reasons you might think. I'll stand by the comments I made in that log, but at the same time, posting it is NOT going to solve the problem and it is NOT going to stop the arguing. It's like throwing gasoline on the fire.
With that said, I'm going to have a stiff drink and then head to school. Tom, if you want to talk about this REASONABLY without tossing untrue statements around, then you still have a window of opportunity to do so; but based on a lot of reactions seen in this thread, that window is closing pretty quickly. |

Damn, I'm good.
Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball (great name!) will be released on April 4, with full MLB/MLBPA licenses. It's being done by Exile Interactive, who were the ones behind World Series Baseball 2K3. Pretty surprising, although one would suspect the game's been in development for a while. |

You STILL have to love googly-eyed Kuros at the start of the game though.
I found that the Diamond Sword helped. I think I got the hang of knowing exactly how to hit enemies. *shrug* Yes, the Ironsword was lovely, but... |

I remember seeing Mega Man for the PC at Ames for $49.99.
...Yes, Mega Man. You know, the version that I think Capcom feels dirty about putting its name on. |

I pronounced it.
Sure, I butchered it and went through the word really slowly, but I did it.
It doesn't exist anymore, but...
