I started playing it again yesterday. |
Then again, at least there's been lots of updates. That's always good. And maybe I can FINALLY get to Lord Knight this week.

If you want to make a new one, reply or whatever and I can trash this. :\ |
Neat, I didn't know that you *could* make Luck count if you wanted to. In theory it sounds good but at 1/100% per luck point, it wouldn't be worth making a Luck-based build.

*smacks head* |
Totally forgot the Square games. FF3 and the new Mana game are BOTH promising possibilities once we find out more about them. I'd want to see a lot more about the new Mario game though. I only saw the E3 stuff so you really can't form an opinion based on that.

No, you don't have to play games, but I've YET to see someone on the board that hates video games. (I mean, either you join for rom hacking, in which case it's a given, or you're a casual/hardcore gamer.) |
Welcome.

Need to bump this. |
Anyways, it's time to get said router but now I'm facing a roadblock - the Celeron 300 machine. Now, obviously the setup's going to look like this: DSL modem connected to the multi-port router (eliminating the need for a hub) and then a wireless USB adaptor connected to the Celeron so that I can pick up the signal on the old PC. Obviously my parents would need to turn the power bar of my computer on so that they could access the net (I think - don't think they'd have to load XP) but for the most part that should work. However, the Celeron POS only has 64MB of RAM, and that's a problem. I was looking at Linksys routers today and I can get one for $69, which isn't bad - and of course the adaptor that goes with it is $69 as well. (I was looking for a package deal but no luck yet.) However, the adaptor says that it requires 128MB of RAM, which I'd assume is for the software itself, but still... It's one of those grey areas. Anyways, two questions. 1) Can you use any adaptor with any router, or should they be the same brand? (Conversely, would any Linksys adaptor work with any Linksys router.) 2) If I'm only connecting ONE computer (aside from the main one that has the DSL modem) to the router, I'd only need a one-port router, right? I could check Google but I hit quite a few strikes early on in my search.

Didn't stop the GBA from being emulated quickly... True, the first emu's weren't that great but that's to be expected. |

Look what I miss when I head off to play RO for an hour. |
If there's any more arguing in the thread, I'll close it for 24 hours and then if other people want to complain about that, I'll direct them to who they should complain to. So there.

I actually LIKE that award idea, Legion. (Although I feel that Kitten Yiffer and Trapster might be up for it as well... ) |

It's baaaaaaaack... (copy/paste from Yahoo via PC World) |
The latest version of the Santy worm poses an elevated risk to many Web sites built using the PHP scripting language, security experts warn. Protecting those sites may involve individually recoding them, those security experts say. Early versions of the Santy worm exploited a specific bug in a bulletin-board software package called phpBB, and their attacks could be prevented by applying a patch to the software. However, the security flaw exploited by newer versions of the worm such as Santy.C or Santy.E is more general, and can occur anywhere a site designer has left the door open for the inclusion of arbitrary files into PHP scripts, experts at K-OTik Security in Montpellier, France, warn. Santy.C and Santy.E behave so differently from Santy.A that the K-OTik is renaming the worm PhpInclude.Worm in its advisories, the company says. The worm doesn't exploit the vulnerabilities in phpBB targeted by its predecessor, instead aiming for a wider range of common programming errors in PHP Web pages. It uses search engines including Google, Yahoo, and AOL to identify exploitable Web pages written in PHP which use the functions "include()" and "require()" in an insecure manner, K-OTik says. These functions can be used to embed the contents of a file within a Web page. If the site designer used them without sufficient checking of the parameters passed to the function, then an attacker could exploit them to incorporate an arbitrary file in the Web page, rather than the limited range presumably intended by the site designer. From there, depending on the configuration of the Web server, the attacker could move on to take control of the entire machine, K-OTik warns. To prevent these attacks, it may be necessary to recode the site to use the include() and require() functions in a safe manner.

Nah, I don't want anyone to stop posting in here. But there was really no need to take over a page or two of the thread (by all participants) with that. |
It seems you got off the topic so that's good, but if that argument's going to start up for the millionth time, there's plenty of other places to discuss it aside from the board.

I'd say it's a joke bid but the number seems to make it look like a typical bid for a really cheap Xbox... |
So yeah. Someone got shafted on Christmas Eve. XD
