NO WAY!? I WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THAT!!!

He changed the sprite to read more of the graphics vertically to display it as he did. How he did that to do it, I don't know. Probably dealing with the code that displays sprites on the screen...

This deals with sprite editing, so it obviously has to be tricky... but hey, I didn't reply with a simple "ASM." answer. I think to find out how he did that, try messing around in a tracer when you open the rom and see what pops up. Then hopefully you will see results (I had it to where the graphics would be read from a different part of the GFX, but it didn't change the size at all... so the size thing confuses me...).

Posted on 08-14-05 10:22 AM, in WACK-A-CLONE: Customised Standard Game: William VS Tediz troops (Conquer Universe; Tediz Base) Link
William heard a few splashes in the water and then heard the explosion. Obviously to him, they jumped in the water before the dang grenade went off. He glanced out to verify this suspicion. He was correct, unfortunatly.

He ran out towards the edge of the ground, looking down at the water, seeing his reflection for the first time. He laughed, as he looked cool as a squirrel. But then he noticed one of the Tediz swimming under the water. Perfect.

William reached into his item sack and reached around in it. He found what he needed, and pulled out a large metal pole. The pole was really tall, tall enough to where William could slam it to the bottom of the pool without moving from his spot. That is what he did. After seeing it firmly in place, he started chanting, held his hands out, and then screamed.

William: "FIERCE BOLT!"

A white blast of electricity boosted out of William's hands and hit the pole. The metallic pole sent the electric charge down to the water. The water then carried it all around, shocking anything under it.

OOC: It works, but...ummm... try not using that top picture anymore. It brings your post down the page a bit. Kind of annoying...
------------

William grinned as he saw some of the Grunts surface. He kept the pole in the ground, but jumped up on top of it, clinging the narrow end of the ball pointed pole. He knocked it off, revealing that the pole was hollow. He reached into his item sack and pulled out some small robot spider things. He stuck them into the pole and they crawled down to the ground. They dug underneath the soil and then crept around underneath the water, digging tunnels underneath the pool of water.

They did it so well that the water didn't crush the tunnels.

William then pulled out a match and lit it against the pole. The flame sparked.

William: "Gunpowder Spiders. They spread gunpowder along tunnels that they create. Great for massive explosions."

He dropped the match into the pole. He then jumped onto the ground and ran as fast as he could to the middle of the arena.

The match touched the ground. It lit a bit of the gunpowder. Then... well, let's just say that the Tediz will have an explosive time in the water.

Posted on 08-16-05 04:44 AM, in Halo: Uncover the Secrets Link
Can't come up with a good title.

Ok, so this is a story based off of the game Halo. I wanted to see if this would be good, so yeah...

The whole purpose of the story is to uncover Halo's secrets, not fighting. Yeah, there will be plenty of fighting, but I don't want the whole story being lost through the fighting.
Plus, I want to see how far this will go.

Anyway, this story will begin on a ship similar to the Pillar of Autumn, but it isn't. Halo itself will be like the one in Halo, including 343 Guilty Spark. The Covenant will be there, too. But if I included Master Chief, the unravling of the story would be very simplistic, and I want everyone's characters to try and figure out Halo for themselves, just like Master Chief and Cortana did.

So basically it is the game Halo, but no MC, Cortana, or Captain Keyes. Everyone's character will have their own AI if they want to, but that is up to you to give them one with your own name and personality or have no AI with that character. As for the captain... well, he isn't involved that much in the story anyway, so I will create my own captain.

Let me just get started... you will see what I mean soon...

---------------------------------------------

The vessel progressed through space, hours upon hours without a sight to be seen. The passengers were kind of relentless for being bored, and some wondered why they had to go on this tour.

William was in Engineering, tweaking around with his Boomerang Guns, hoping to upgrade them as the hours passed. He was given an AI to fit onto his com-link, so he could have conversations with it as long as he wanted to.

William: "But what does that have to do with anything, Mentome?"
Mentome: "That this tour is supposed to get other people together to interact instead of fighting."
William: "Yeah, but I would prefer action over boredom."

The trip lasted forever. They have all seen the many planets that existed, and getting from one to another took forever as it was. At least they had food and drinks.

William was done tinkering with his weapon, so he put the tools back in place and walked out of Engineering. He began walking around the corridors, glancing over in the Armory, seeing many weapons that he could not use right now. There was no target practice or anything to try them out at.

He went in the hallway right before the Cryo Tube Bay, which was now changed to the Break Room, where all the people who have come to take the tour would wait at until a planet was in sight. One of the guards saw William's weapon, and they kindly took it from him. They allowed them their weapons if they were to fix them in Engineering, but they didn't want them in the break room because they don't want fights to start up and end in bloody catastrophe. All the weapons were stored on the Bridge so that Captain Years could make sure nobody took them without permission.

The automatic doors opened, and William walked in. He sat in a nearby chair and took the chip out of his com-link set and put it in the terminal in front of him. A female figure appeared on top of it, being of orange color and data streaming through its body.

William: "So, when is the next planet going to be seen?"
Mentome: "Well, from my understanding, we should be close to one in a few minutes."
William: "Good, because this is the last planet we are going to. I want to go back to my own ship and command my own crew."

William looked around, noticing the other tour people doing other things. William then decided to pull out his DS and start playing Meteos. He fired it up and started shooting blocks in the game.

He had questions that he kept to himself. Why was he chosen for this tour? Why were the other people chosen? Why was there a tour to begin with? Those questions repeated in his head a few times as he was playing his game, trying to get them out of his head to no avail.

On the bridge, Captain Years looked at the main panel, grinning as he saw the final planet in sights. Finally, he could get these people out of here and go back to fighting the alien menace that threatened humanity. He waited a few moments before he called up the tourists. He didn't want them on the bridge for long. He hated foreign people, especially civillians not under UNSC control. Having already shown this to other captains by threatening a civillian to shut up or get out of his ship in deep space, he was being monitored really carefully, which was the whole purpose of this tour: as punishment. While he was supposed to send the invites to certain people, he just sent them to random locations, so he wasn't surprised of how strange some of his tourists were. He didn't care, as long as his punishment was over with. He hated avoiding battle.

He waited a minute, and then one of the monitoring stations pulled up an anamoly. Something was revolving around the planet. It couldn't be identified yet, but as they got closer, the object became more clearer on screen. A ring like object, spinning around a planet. What was it?

Mentome sensed that presence, too. She could tell what was going on in the ship, but wasn't allowed to speak of what was happing to the civillians unless it was a matter of life or death for them.

Mentome: "What is that?"
William: "What is what?"
Mentome: "Oh, nothing. Nevermind. I am sure that the captain will be calling us soon."

The guards overlooking the break room could be seen with a surprised look upon their face. They kept silent though, as to not alarm the guests.
-------------------------
OOC: Right now, you introduce your character and AI (optional) as they are in the break room, waiting for the planet to be in view. Halo isn't yet fully in view, and the Covenant are yet to be sighted. The order to go to the bridge hasn't been stated either, so nobody should have weapons as of now, nor should be expecting something like this.
Also, this is my first attempt in the Story Forum, so...

Well, I heard about this at work. From what they told me, he could have died after using the bathroom.

One person said that this person played games for 50 hours and died, only with breaks to use the bathroom. Another person, who works at a hospital, says that when peeing, your blood pressure drops a lot. Maybe he had too high blood pressure and then went down too much?

May be a possibility. But hey, this is coming from my work. Who knows if this is right? I mean, everyone is a drunk there.

Starcraft.

Why? It was the game that got me interested in RTS games in the first place. Also, it is fun LAN.

Nothing is better than sending in a Dark Archon on my friends, mind controlling their SCV and Drone, taking it back in my base, and killing them with all three races. They suck at defence, and they suck at attacking a defence.

William held his arms out, water dripping from all over him. He didn't expect all of that to happen, but it did... figures.

William then could hardly see what was in the room, so he reached in his pack and pulled out a flare, which he threw up at the ceiling to brighten the room. As he looked around, he saw the grenades. He was... well, ready.

He quickly ran over to one of the rock pillars, climbing as high as he could. He was just about to the top when he remembered his leg hurt, and he only was on the rock pillar with one hand. He looked down, dangling, and then saw the grenades explode. After that, he figured that there should be no more Tediz left to battle... unless they called for reinforcements, which was very likely.

My favorite type of level is the level that does more than what it is supposed to. Sure, you have Pipe Mazes and Ghost Houses, where puzzles can be confusing, but what about something... different?

I like levels that just are completley different from the rest. Levels that just use simple things and look and feel so awesome. Some ideas I have never seen but have come up with are such levels as the ones I am talking about.

Like there would be a level with some door. The doors would "flip" gravity, but would simply use exits to simulate this effect. Something like that would be interesting to see.

Or levels that involve changing the enviroment to pass it. A bridge on fire would be hard to get by, but enter a door, and walk the frozen bridge then.

Levels that just are different, and aren't too cliche are awesome.

I am different...

William quickly reached his free hand up on the ledge that he was dangling from. He then tried lowering himself down to the ground.

After landing, he turned towards the door to see some swift movements and then the door shutting. He knew he was in for a surprise.

He pulled out his Black Thorn and waited. He knew he was going to need it.

You are kidding me, right?

Look, all the versions of Yoshi's Island are similar, but the way their data is stored is different. You saying that there is no Layer 4 in 1.0 (U) is just plain out stupid, as there is Layer 4 in all of them. I know. The last level, when Kamek is shooting magic at you. Yeah, that has four layers.

And that has nothing to do with how the level data is stored in the first place.

Maybe for people to quickly pull out, play a game for a little bit, and then put it away. It is really small, so maybe that is what it going to accomplish?

If it is cheap and allows linking between the Gamecube and that, then I might get it for some of my games. Otherwise, I will stick to my DS...

Black in background = BAD.

Don't use black in the background. A dark grey, yeah, but not pure black. It looks as though that was the FG.

But it does look unique. It is nice.

William saw the Sneaker up at the flare, and right before he destroyed it, William pulled out his boomerang shooters, set them on high speed mode, and shot them at the Sneaker as the light went out.

He heard the whiz of the boomerangs shoot away from him, but he couldn't help but feel a presence around him...

He quickly started running around, hoping to hear other footsteps from the Sneakers (since they both gotta be sneakers, right?)

OOC: Oh, I just forgot. If you need visuals of what they look like, go to http://www.rareware.com/games/upcoming/conkerlive/conkerlive_downloads.html and look at picture six, which should be the old war Tediz. Shouldn't be hard to figure out who is who, right?

Nintendogs: Three versions... I don't know which one to get. Still seems like a good title, though. This is the main reason my sister wants a DS... this, and Harry Potter when it comes out...

Advance Wars: Dual Strike: I want it now. I have been waiting too long for this title. I NEED IT!

So yeah, the DS lowers its price to 129.99 and it comes with Nintendogs... great... since I had to pay 150 for mine and then now have to buy Nintendogs for 30 bucks or so...

Shipments around where I live don't happen until Tuesdays... and tommorrow, I am staying home... have to wait until Wednesday then...
