I voted for Doopliss? Weird... I thought I voted for Cortez... uhh...

I meant to vote for Cortez... he is a really cool enemy. Nothing beats a skeleton who can take on many forms...

EDIT: I see why... Cortez and Doopliss are right next to each other... I guess I made a mistake and clicked too high...

Posted on 12-29-04 11:35 PM, in Do You Cheat? Link
The first game I cheated on was Sonic for the Genesis. Then again, it was just for debug mode. I enjoyed just placing down the enemies wherever I want and stuff.

I cheat, yes. Only when I am playing around. Let me explain.

I will have a few saves, one being my first save and it will not have any cheats whatsoever. Another will have no cheats, but will focus on almost every little tid bit of the game. Another will have cheats, which I use to have some fun.

I will refer to GTA for this. I had a serious save. It would be no cheating and go through the missions as planned. Yet, when I just want to go around and steal cars and run into the cops and watch people fight each other, then I load the save and activate the cheats. I do not save, however. I just enjoy the cheats.

Some games, though, are ruined by cheating. I can tell you that Viewtiful Joe is one tough game to beat, but I would never cheat on it. It is a perfect game (not to mention the sequel is, too) and if tampered with could possibly not be fun anymore.

As for FAQs, I rarely use them. I use them for when I am supremly stumped on a game. Right now I am stumped on Viewtiful Joe 2. I will possibly use a FAQ to get past this one area and that will be it. Otherwise, I will figure it out myself...

In conclusion, cheating can be good or bad. It just depends on the situation.

Ummm... from what I saw at my local Rhino's Video Game Store, it is coming out sometime in March, although I forget the actual date. I believe it was the first or tenth or something... and you do mean Starcraft: Ghost, right?

Kitten Yiffer: You should check out the series. It is really good and has a whole lot of replay value.

Right now since there aren't many games out for the DS I am building a GBA collection. So far, all I have is Ed, Edd n Eddy Jawbreakers, SMW, SMB3, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (all are in order of when I got them). Until more games come out, I will probably keep buying GBA games...

That is a nice little sprite you got there. Although you could use a little shading (not a whole lot, but just some...).

5 minute BC... uhh... they were cheating... it takes approx. 2:00 to complete one Battle Cruiser... and don't forget the buildings required for them.

I used to play online with my "friends". I always won... no matter what.

Game 1: It was Road Wars, I believe. I told him to build stuff and he was a n00b to the entire game, not just online. I told him to build up his forces and kept a close eye on him through a burrowed Zergling (never caught it, in fact... no detector units around). I had to get off in a few minutes soon, so I just sent a small army of about 6 Zerglings, 3 Hydralisks, and about 5 Ultralisks. He had maybe 5 units protecting his base... and he had only one base while I had 10...

Game 2: Same person. This time, it was on a money map. I was Protoss this time around. I started out with a lot of workers and once I could build Photon Cannons, I put them all around the barrier of my base, about 25 at the ground entrance. Nothing was going to get through. I took a Probe and built Photon Cannons in front of his base. He was so confused. He never built a transport to get around them either. I sent a shuttle with a Dark Archon on it. I got a SCV from him. I then destroyed him. Had fun that time.

Game 3: Add one person, money map. I was Zerg, one was Terran, and the other Protoss (obviously learning from the previous beatings). I told the Protoss to turn alliance on. He did. I sent a whole bunch of units in (not set to alliance) and burrowed them. As for the Terran... I almost destroyed all the defences he had because I play for fun, not for "I am better than you are!". I then destroyed both at the same time.

After that, we had a few more skirmishes, and then we decided to let some other person join in. Rule was 20 minute rush. 15 minutes later, destroys both me and my friend.

Then I did my own skirmishes. You had cheaters that took advantage of n00bs saying "Press Alt-X to see the entire map". I quit right then, knowing that these people were total losers. Then I stopped playing altogether.

I figured later on that "Why not try once more?" I do, on a Zerg Defence game. I had vultures at my disposal. I placed mines (to defend, of course) and people were complaining that I was placing mines. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL!? They made me mad. I quit. End of story.

So far after that, the only person I played online with afterwards was a few people playing the freeware game Cube and Kyouji on Bomberman. Other than that, I never played multiplayer again. It is all thanks to people who do just exactly what you did, Raven. People like that make me sick. You should play online to have fun and enjoy the game, not play to act like the big bad boss.

Well... uhhh... this is from day 1 release of the PSP in Japan:

The portable gaming war is officially under way in Japan. According to numerous business press reports, independent research by sales tracking company Media Create has found that Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation Portable sold 171,963 units on its launch date.

SCE hasn't released an official sales figure for the multimedia PSP yet, but Media Create's numbers, as well as those of other independent research groups, suggest that over 85 percent of the nearly 200,000 units shipped reached eager hands of gamers on its official launch date, Sunday (see movie link below).

Reportedly, the top-selling titles for the PSP were SCE's Hot Shots Golf, Namco's Ridge Racers, and FromSoftware's Armed Core Formula Front.

SCE plans to ship 500,000 units by the end of the year in Japan and release the handheld in America and Europe early next year--the company expects to ship three million units worldwide by the end of March. Sony is considering increasing production of the handheld to meet consumer demand, but admits that a boost is unlikely due to arranged contracts with suppliers of the PSP's components.

The first shots in the battle for handheld supremacy in Japan were fired by longtime portable gaming giant Nintendo earlier this week. Nintendo's DS handheld has reportedly shipped over 1.4 million units as of Sunday. The number of units already sold in America as of December 8 is 700,000, and another 700,000 units were shipped in Japan as of December 12. Nintendo hopes to ship 2.8 million units worldwide before the end of the year and five million units by the end of March 2005.

At Sunday's PSP launch event at Shinjuku's Yodobashi Camera, where SCE president Ken Kutaragi commemorated the launch of the product at 6am (pictured above, far left), there were over 1,200 people waiting in line to purchase the handheld.

Because of its popularity, and the modest availability of 200,000 units nationwide at launch, the PSPs at Yodobashi sold out by around 9am.

While it's difficult to accurately compare the demand based on the following figures, for comparison, the Nintendo DS shipped 500,000 units on its launch date of December 2 in Japan, and could still be purchased at Yodobashi even late that afternoon without a preorder slip.

By Hirohiko Niizumi -- GameSpot

They are making it seem like the PSP sold more, which it did not. You have 200,000 units of PSPs. Meanwhile, when the DS was released in Japan, there were 500,000 units and there were still enough to go around. Plus the quote "Sony is considering increasing production of the handheld to meet consumer demand, but admits that a boost is unlikely due to arranged contracts with suppliers of the PSP's components." shows that the PSP is going to be underproduced and there isn't going to be that much to go around. Who wins this battle? Nintendo because not only is there enough to go around, they have even more games for it with the backwards support for GBA games which the PSP could not do.

1: Depends on your liking, although I believe Super Mario Bros. 3 is considered the best one. Yoshi's Story could be better than SMW, but it is just an opinion.

2: Matter of opinion here.

3: Green Switch Palace is in Donut Plains 2 (the cave level). You have to enter a pipe and then step up across the turn blocks (it would help throwing the shell at the last turn block). The red one is in Vanilla Dome 2. Use the P-Switch across the used blocks and coins, not before them.

4: I have no clue...

5: I have yet to see a pattern.

6: World 2 has many exits. 3 has 3... secret ones. 4 has... well, 1, I think...

7: You have to beat Big Boo.

Games I like yet were dissed by lots of people (online, at school, etc.):

Re-volt (it was a good racing game, but not popular enough)
Zelda: The Windwaker (it is good, but people hate the graphics)
Pokemon Series (it is a great game concept and battle system, but people complain of it being too kiddish)
Yoshi's Story (I love that game, but complaints of it being kiddish...)

Games that are popular and I am so-so on:

Halo + Halo 2 (multiplayer is good, but once beaten, there is no need to play)
GTA (I like to free roam, not play those missions)

Games that are too overated:

Splinter Cell Series (too concentrated on the graphical quality and not enough variation)
Metal Gear Solid (why is it good?)
Madden [insert year here] (WHEN WILL IT END!? ITS THE SAME EVERY YEAR BESIDES THE STATS!)
Final Fantasy Series minus the original Tactics (they are now... degrading...)
ANYTHING THAT LOOKS REALISTIC (where is the gameplay?)
A massivly multiplayer game (I have had enough of those)
Most RPGs (cliche... too many cinematics)
Most violent games (other than graphics, these are what games are concentrated around)
Popular Movies made into games (too glitchy, poorly made, just the title is good... sometimes)
Sequels that are more like the first (like I need to see another Jak game)
Counter Strike (the people online think they are soooo tough)

I would complain more, but I don't know other games that will fit here for right now...

Well... could you possibly release the data that you used for adding the platform? That would be a nice touch if used properly and would make the battle harder. It gets in the way. Although have you tested it for the other mode 7 battles? Possibly add stuff to them... and edit... Bowser's area?

ExGFX would definitly require a hex editor... I think. It doesn't display the graphics in LM in the boss levels and setting it to ExGFX in LM doesn't do anything...

Of course this gives everyone equal chance of creating a hack that is just as good as the next, but it also creates a boundary of where creativity can take a hack. And that's pretty much what I see from the Super Mario World hacking community - a huge list of hacks weighed down by an editor.]

First off, DD's Mario's Adventure was a good hack, but now if I see his hacks, I really don't care for them anymore. I don't care if he changes the engine. He could do it because he knows every freaking little thing about SMB3. You get him to hack SMW and he won't be adding in complex ASM hacks anytime soon. You get what I am saying? Everyone can do this when you know it all. You all seem amazed when someone makes a small ASM hack. Woop de doo. I can do a small ASM hack. You could do a small ASM hack. ANYONE CAN! The only difference between them and the ones who don't know ASM is that they know the data for the game and everyone else knows diddly squat about the game they are hacking. You all need to face the facts: everyone here is a rom hacker. If they know ASM, they are a rom hacker. If they can only edit graphics, they are still a rom hacker. If they hack SMW, they are a romm hacker.

You know what, flame me and whatever because I don't really care, but some of you "Professional ASM Hackers" think you are so much better than the rest of us. You are not. You just happen to know more data than the rest of us. If we had more data, then of course we could do better ASM hacks. So quit boasting.
Note: I am not saying all ASM hackers are this way. Some of these people however just brag about it too much.
Note 2: This is just my opinion. If you guys want to argue it, go ahead. I am sure you will defend you or someone else... but I am not trying to make enemies here. I would prefer it if we all just got along better.

For the program now... it is nice for recovery and seeing how complex some tiles were arranged, but if I wanted to take the graphics or take the levels, I would ask first. Still, the program is nifty and worth getting for some things. Good work with that.

And on another note, if you want DW:TLC unlocked, ask Fu first before doing so. Besides, you can't just open LM and see the ASM code for the pipes. You would still have to look in a hex editor.

Xeogred: Yes, you can adjust your camera angle... somewhat. You really can't see that well behind you which adds to the creepy factor. Nothing is better than walking, turning around, and getting my head chopped off by a crazed chainsaw guy.

I don't really like the RE series except the story... and RE4. This game is more action oriented and creepier. Plus, shooting/kicking someone in the head at the right time is really cool.
*sees heads explode*
Plus the fact it is a horror game, which is not my kind of genre. Hmmm...

Horror games I like:
Eternal Darkness
Resident Evil 4

Yeah... my list is that small...

105: Suck at graphic design? Try drawing a bunch of lines and see what you come up with.

106: Palettes should not be straightforeward (rocks be grey, grassland be green) but have some sort of tint to it. Add a little bit of another color and it will look different.
