Yay! Almost here! I won't be able to get it until late tomorrow... unless I miss school for this event... Just kidding. I still have to go to school.

I can't wait. This is going to be cool to use when it is released. Looks really good.

Old news... very, very old news. They might have put it in there to have another switch palace, but... they didn't. Besides, the only one they could have is the white switch palace. If anybody know how to make another switch for it...

In any case, this is of little importance to SMW hackers... mainly because we can make that level an actual level in the game...

Yay! About time! Now to get the VB Runtimes and start enjoying editing... hopefully.

...ok. I downloaded the VB runtimes and installed them and nothing happened... anyone got a link to the correct runtimes I need to install? I want to try this editor...

EDIT: Nevermind. I can find them in Google (already have).

Download it and put it in the windows/system directory. It should work then.

EDIT3: I get an error now... in version 1.0. It says "Unknown object type (WEIRD error!) : Object FE thinks its type0 Bad things will likely happen if Eggvine keeps running. Aborting." Know how to fix that?

I used this editor (finally!) and here is my review...

The interface is good. You can't see the graphics, but hey, editing without them is just as good. I like the boxes. It makes editing good. Although I would probably recommend some sort of button that puts whatever object is selected to the background for temporary use, mainly for the castle areas. I hate to delete stuff... but that is just me...

I know you added slope support, but could you add it in for objects E5 through EA? They can be kind of hard to see the slope and get correctly... because it doesn't show a slope...

For S9F, you should add that it shoots either one or three catuses at a time depending on its X position.

Other than some stuff, this isn't a half-bad editor. I can't wait to see more of it. I don't care if there is going to be graphics support or not, but if you do, then please add an option to have it box mode. I would also like to see a text editor soon. Want to change the level names quickly and not with a hex editor... too lazy... But anyway, good editor. Although I am confused with the exit settings and stuff like that. I can't really figure it out.

EDIT: Here is a pic of what this editor can do with a little header editing and a few other stuff.

This editor can do much more, though. This is just after playing with the editor for a few minutes.

That is how it is supposed to be. If you look at the normal Rex, you can see that his head doesn't fit directly on his neck. You could probably try something with ASM, but I don't know...

Hmmm... I think it might be sequential. I will have to check real quick. *searches for "Make Eggs, Throw Eggs" and not "Make Eggs, Make Eggs"*

And thanks for the help with the exits.

EDIT: 1 - 1: Make Eggs, Throw Eggs starts at offset 0x114C75. Then the next thing I see is the message block for throwing the eggs, it seems. Start there and you might find all the level names... hopefully...

...what happens when you try to play whatever level you are editing? Need more info.

And if it is 1-1, then don't put anything below where the original level stopped otherwise it will freeze up at the level name. I will have to look up the coordinate.

Sprites BA and BB are not different by SFX. If you place BA down, you will get a question cloud with a staircase that goes up-left or up-right. BB makes a staircase with stairs that go directly left or right. Both depend on the X position. Just might want to update that.

About the slopes for tileset 12:

E8 makes a small slope. If you make it a width of two, you get a slope that goes down a Y coordinate. Let me describe in ASCII Art.

The top part is the first square in the editor (after you create it). It must be at least a width of 2 to work properly. Height may be whatever, although E5 makes a weird slope... someone else figure it out...

E6 and E9 are really simple. For every one square in width, it will go down one square. Makes a simple 45 degree slope.

E7 and EA is like above, but for every square in width, it is two squares down. A very sharp version of E6 and E9.

Try messing around with this and you will understand it better... hopefully. It would just be easier to see the slope... please implement this...

Does anyone know what pipe to use to make a pipe in tileset 12? I can't find the right one. There is an unusable one, but that doesn't work. And the other pipes are all glitched.

Website looks a lot better. A whole lot better.

I like what you have now done. Check a box for sprites and all sprites appear. You can even type in a keyword and find whatever you want. That is a nice feature.

Ummm... Mega Luigi, there should also be a .dll file in the download. Put that in the system folder also. That should fix the problem.

That didn't limit me... I am already starting my second level.

You should at least play around with the palette headers and backgrounds. That way it looks somewhat different. Still doesn't look too bad. Good work.

Well... thanks to Squash Monster's editor, I have started a Yoshi's Island hack. I have already finished one level, and am now working on the next. I have completly erased the first level and started it from scratch, so it won't really look like the original. The second level has a different FG.

And here are the screens:


Beginning of 1-1

Making a bridge...

Simple running puzzle...

Helicopter Navigating.

Beginning of 1-2. Placing down that Chomp was hard...

This is just a standard hack of YI... story is somewhat same... or will be the same. All I know is that this will be a very different version of YI.

I just remembered something: If you clear all the objects and sprites in a level, it always leaves one sprite. In 1-1 it left a "Allow you to go down pipe" object and in 1-2 it left a red coin. Is it supposed to leave them there, or what?

The "Nintendo Presents" (like SMW) is a sprite, therefore you must use a graphics editor to find it. Unfortunatly... I can't find the presents graphics because teh graphics are compressed... you might be able to find them, though...

Thanks everyone. The first demo will be released when all of world 1 is done. I want a bigger demo than the others. A demo might be out in a week.

And the palettes weren't that hard to do (random number in the header and seeing how it looked). The levels aren't that hard, though, but then again, this is the first world... so it should be easy.
