Go to Gamespot and look at their new DS section. It has the game list for the DS.

The DS looks awesome. It has Wi-Fi, 3D graphics, and much more. It looks like it will be very cool. I am getting one as soon as possible... hopefully.

Hmmm... I don't know about the first question but I can answer the other two.

There is no other program that can add those blocks.

FuSoYa used ASM.

But I just remembered! Those levels (22, F6, and D1) are actually 3 different levels, one has the Mid-way point and the others don't.

My priorities:

- Level Design
- Memorable Levels
- Cool way of using the Map16
- Original design
- Do the objects work together (ledges have sides, look like one ledge is in front of the other, etc.)?

The last thing I really care about is the quality of the ExGFX unless the hack meets the above stuff. Then I start judging the ExGFX.

The worst thing in ExGFX is the fact that a lot of people must have the All Stars look. It is ok for maybe a level or two, but not the whole world... unless it is appropriatly designed in the overworld. Even then, those graphics are overused.

Overworld: Good work.
1st SS: Pillar is orange, ground is grey... not really good together...
2nd and 3rd: No enemies... where are they!?
4th: No background. You should rip the background from that level in Sonic or make your own.
5th: Umm.... title screen looks kind of bland. If anything, make the title more exciting.

Of course, I don't know whether or not the level design as a full is good, but there are some adjustments you should make. Good work.

If you want an underground tileset, use Nintendo's underground set.

Just to let you know, I am working on a girder set complete with a background and welding Koopas. Don't know whether or not to submit it when I am finished with it...

Let's just leave Fu alone about this stuff and keep him informed on bug fixes. If there are any left. Lunar Magic would be easier on Windows anyway because of its GUI.

In the top-right of the title screen, I see a D... or part of an O... but it shouldn't be there.

So far, I reached the first castle, but that was in a few minutes. I will inform you on any more bugs or problems.

The thing I am wondering is how the Layer 2 and 3 will work. Some levels, layer 2 is the background and layer 3 is mist, but in others, both layer 2 and 3 are used for the background. Then layer 2 is still background and layer 3... is in front of the FG and is part of the BG. Hope you have something planned for that (scrolling variations, maybe).

Ummm... that was easy. It even says what to do right before the jump! I use it in my hack (Fossil Mines) and it works great. I still can't believe you can't make that jump (no offense),

And it is good you left it unlocked. But I will probably not use any of the ExGFX (except the sprites... maybe) because the Map16 is really confusing to me. Really crowded.

As to your question, Handish2000, I know that the SMW+ hacks are complete and have a new overworld. I don't have the url to the site, though. I will find one.

I have to agree. Ripping from SMAS is cool at first, but they are overused too much. Rip from some non-popular games that nobody would ever think of ripping graphics from. Or better yet, make your own graphics.

Here is my review of Ultra Mario World 2, Demo 1.

Title - 8/10

Ok, the text looks a little weird, but it is original. But the priority problem needs to be fixed. Other than that, don't try to kill every enemy in the title screen for it to be perfect (mainly refering to the Chargin' Chuck part).

Graphics - 5/10

I see some handmade graphics, but you mainly just alter the original graphics to be different. Some of the sprites are cool, but their palettes can be messy in some levels. And you use the SMAS graphics. I don't hate them, but please be more creative... they are overused. Palettes are really messed up at some places.

Overworld - 7/10

It looks creative, but then there are the really loooonnnnngggggg paths. Please don't make them that long, as the events only show on the part that Mario is standing on. I saw lots of flashes going across the mountain after castle 1. Very weird...

Level Design - 5/10

I look through level design very thoroughly, and this level design... well... it was weird and not fun. Where should I start? Oh, there were capes in the first world. I don't like to add capes to the first world because then I can fly all the way across the level and not worry about any pits. Then there were the cacti... the first few fit ok, but that was because the black from the background covered up the bottom. It was sort of like the cacti were floating. Then there was the pipe of dispair... you enter it, you eat the Buzz Beetle and the Spineys (which were just red Buzz Beetles...), you exit out the other end, and then... you are trapped... not very funny. In fact, rather stupid. Then in BeanBean Castle, second part, the hallways are so narrow, you can't jump over the skeletons unless you walk through them and get hurt. I DON'T LIKE THAT!!! Also, there were also two cape powerups right next to each other... which makes me say that THERE ARE TOO MANY POWERUPS IN THIS GAME! Please remove some. I want some challenge, not "So easy I can beat it with one hand." And you use the same custom blocks over... and over. Plus there were no scrolling levels. I would like some scrolling levels.

Story - Not Rating

I don't have a clue what is going on, but SMW didn't have much of a story either, so I can't rate it.

Overall - 6/10

Level design sucks. I don't like it. The best thing in this hack was the title screen, but that wasn't perfect. Blocks were out of place, palettes really messed up (green fireballs?), and very little replay value. You better do better next time if you want me to play it again.

I am going to submit a new background... I have the pics, but I have to update the Map16. So here is a peek of my Normal Background. It fits with the normal graphics that are already with SMW and brightens up the original FG palette. Plus it is like a level, you can make it however you want.

If that Dino Torch is real and not a statue, that is evil. Good trick, though.


Airship level looks complex, and the Bom-omb is blue. Nice.

Good background.

I have it downloaded, but I have to play it to enjoy it. I will give a review after I play a little bit.

Well, this is nice to know, blackhole89. I tried messing around with the music editing myself (and got nowhere, although somewhere I edited the pitch of Yoshi...). I would like to see an editor for music editing and stuff. Then hacks could be more... original... or people will take music from other games... maybe..

I have a mountain background ripped from Megaman X. If anyone would like me to submit it, I will. It is the background from Sigma stage 2.

And is anyone working on a foreground for KATW's computer background? If not, I will try to make one. Maybe a Windows theme. Maybe because it is the easiest to make... but I could do a foreground with floppy disks and CDs and other computer-related stuff...
