Hi, I'm new to this board. My name is Jason. I enjoy rolleblading, playing the guitar and playing videogames. My favorite videogame series is the Legend of Zelda. Have a great day everyone.

BS Legend of Zelda 3: Ancient Stone Tablets is actually a Zelda game made by Nintendo. It was only released in Japan via download through Nintendo's Satellaview for the Super Famicom.

This is my first day on the message board, I'm not familiar with some of the abbreviations. What is HM and PMs? The game is presently available as four seperate roms but unfortunately has many problems which I mentioned earlier. Each Rom contains the overworld and 2 dungeons (week 1: dungeon 1 and 2, week 2: dungeon 3 and 4 and so on). Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is my favorite game of all time and this is the direct follow up to it (it was actually released before Ocarina of Time) so I'm sure this will be a classic. If you know any rom hackers who might be able to help please inform them or if you could recommend anyone to me I would be very grateful. Any and all help in any form is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

We can surely use your help with the translation! Just go to the link in the first post (http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/bszelda.shtml) and check the latest news. There you can find David's e-mail, the one who is working on the translation (careful that you mail David, not Davogones). Just contact him and he will tell you what we need help with. Thanks!

I'm not sure if anyone could help me but I recently "lost" all of my my memory on my gamecube memory card. It had 2 and half years game play on it. Its very upsetting to say the least. I'll explain how this happened, I had my american system modified so it could play japanese games. I then purchased the japanese version of Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. I then saved a game of navi's tracker's on my memory card that also had my american save files. The next day I went to play an american game and my system told me I need to reformat my memory card and that all of the memory will be lost when I do. I chose not to reformat it. I have been unable to retrieve my american save files. They are not even listed when I go into the memory card option. I was wondering if there any programs that might be able to fix this or if anyone might be willing to work on this for me. I would mail them my memory card and pay them. Thanks for your help

I am presently looking for a rom hacker who may help me make patches for BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets (aka BS Zelda 3, or Kodai no Sekiban). No one outside of Japan has ever had a chance to play this game as it was never made on cartridges. This game is in poor playing condition. There is no underworld music and the inside of caves, houses and dungeons appear as black, empty screens, except for the doors and some items; making it very difficult to navigate as you may walk through where a wall is supposed to be and lose your way or crash the game. We have just recently translated all of the Japanese text to English but unfortunately we need a skilled rom hacker to insert the text into the game. A retired patcher Dreamer Nom made it possible to see some indoor objects but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. The original BS The Legend of Zelda had some similar problems that were corrected by patches that our presently missing rom hacker made.
A Link to the Past was arguably the best 2D Zelda game ever made and Ancient Stone Tablets is a follow-up with rearranged dungeons, evolving outdoors and new puzzles, so it is sure to be classic. Unfortunately we will never know how good this game is if we do not find a skilled rom hacker. If you would like to see pictures of how poor the indoors of the game are please go to our website at http://www.bszelda.zeldalegends.net/bszelda.shtml use the left scroll bar and click on Pix under Ancient Stone Tablets. I am than willing to answer any questions you might have. Please email me at cent208@hotmail.com or send me private message if you would be willing to help.

Thanks for your time,

I agree its amazing that one of the most popular franchises of all times has a game that very few people have played. I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't re-released it on the GBA. If I can't find a rom hacker on this site, does anyone have any suggestions on how/where to find one?

Sage of Time you are right about the other BS Zelda not needing to be "rebuilt". What we did was fix the code so that it would work right as a SNES game (that is on emulators and copiers). We did not have to recreate missing parts of the game. It was there waiting to be unlocked.
We do not know whether this is the case for AST, the walls layouts could be missing from the dump we have. There's no way to tell until someone can confidently look at the code and say "They're in/not in the game".

Euclid, thats great news. Who is seph3? Do you have an email address for him or any way I could contact him. I do believe we have a complete rom and that it just needs to be "unlocked". I also want to thank everyone for their help and enthuasism with this project. Its very encouraging.

The floors patch found the on the BS Zelda Homepage is not recommended b/c your character can get "lost" underneath the tiles. I'm assuming that since this patch makes them appear it would indicate it is probably an emulation problem and not a incomplete dump of the rom. As for why a translation patch has not been released yet, the translation was just completed probably around december and we only just very recently found someone who is willing to insert the english text. It is presently being worked on. As for completing the game, luckily b/c of dreamer nom's recent "ancient stone tablets restore patch" it is no longer necessary to walk around blindly or use your boomerang to find objects since objects such as treasure chest and blocks are now visible. I recently completed the game and navigating the dungeons is much easier now b/c of the patch. One more thing that might be useful for anyone who might be "toying" with the rom. If you go to the BS Zelda Homepage (I guess I won't provide the link either but just do a search on yahoo) and click on files under BS Zelda Ancient Stone Tablets and scroll all the way down to the bottom under Misc you will find some resources that might be helpful such as a graphics decoder and some technical information provided by Dream Nomer and Obiki (another rom hacker). I probably should have pointed this out earlier, sorry.

The person that is presently inserting the text was apparently doing well with it. So we probably won't need any help with this unless he runs into any problems. As for the space problem, the patch will be listed seperately on the website so you do not have to combine it on the original rom if you dion't want to (its optional). Also the person inserting the text said he was going to replace the Japanese text with the American text so I guess that would save space.

Hi everybody,
I noticed that no one has posted on this thread in over 2 weeks. I was just wondering if anyone is "working" on the rom. If not I just want to thank everyone for their intrest and feedback on this project.

Just so everyone knows, Euclid who also visits this page is working on the translation. If anyone is interested in reading or joining the forums regarding euclid's translation patch or d4s's work please visit our site at http://www.bszelda.zeldalegends.net/bszelda.shtml and then click on "Forum" under General on the left side of the homepage. I am much more optimistic about this project now. Thanks again for everyone's support.

Hello again, this is Cent208 from the BS Zelda Homepage.
I'm posting to let everyone know that thanks to Euclid's help (who kindly volunteered after reading my previous topic) we now have a translation patch for BS Zelda Kodai no Sekiban (now formally known as Ancient Stone Tablets)
You can find the patch and much more (information, screenshots etc.) at
bszelda.zeldalegends.net/bszelda.shtml

For those who do not know, Ancient Stone Tablets is an excellent follow-up to A Link to the Past with rearranged dungeons, a new story and new puzzles (though in the game's current condition the latter can't really be enjoyed... all indoors lack walls, pits and a few more elements)

As for what still needs to be done, d4s has looked into the matter and helped us determine that odds of finding the dungeons layout in it are little to nothing, and that the music was (in large part) not the same as ALttP but CD quality tracks downloaded through the satellaview.

Our next objectives are therefore:
1) To recreate the dungeons using Hyrule Magic (the plan would be to edit an ALttP rom and then insert the data into AST, but it would be great if HM itself could be modified to work directly with AST)
2) Because by watching the Zelda no Video documentary we could determine to a degree what tracks were played at what times, we hope to stream Mp3 music from the Sound & Drama remastered ALttP soundtrack into the game (d4s has done something similar with BoF2, but we would like to also keep the sound effects and he says it might be possible)

If anybody wishes to ask questions or provide some help, please post a reply in this topic or write to me at cent208@hotmail.com

we have the music from Sound & Drama remastered ALttP soundtrack in MP3 format. so if anyone knows how to do it, we could email you the MP3 tracks and hopefully stream them into the game. the collision detection for the indoors (dungeons, caves, houses) is not there. AST's overworld is very similar to the light world overworld of ATTP with dungeons in new locations, various minor changes and rearrangements. there are a few new characters (e.g. a mole character) but the main difference b/w AST and ATTP is it has new story and the dungeons are completely new. as for what the dungeons would look like, people from the site have played the dungeons numerous times and we know where the treasure chests, pots, bombable walls, swithches, steps are supposed to be (the essentials) but things like the decorations on walls, torches, statues we don't know unfortunately. but luckily the Zelda no Video documentary had pictures of five rooms from the first dungeon so we can replicate that perfectly.

I went to the Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario, Zelda, Doneky Kong) signing yesterday in New York City. I brought a piece of paper with a picture of BS The Legend of Zelda and BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets. After I got my item signed I asked the translator, "these 2 zelda games were only released in japan, could you rerelease them in the united states". she then translated my question and i showed him the pictures. he then looked at the picture for a good 5-10 seconds, not knowing what it is was and then he said "ahhh" apparently realizing what the games were and said "no" in a very definitive voice. it was kind of funny when he said "ahhh" b/c he didn't immediately recognize his own game. i was disappointed he said no but it was an incredible experience. i shook his hand and i got multiple of me standing by him. i so it is painfully apparent that nintendo will not re-release these games. so the only hope for playing ancient stone tablets is if someone makes a patch for the game.
