Came out today. Who has it? I'm going to refrain from making comments until I've beaten it.

I don't actually have it, but I am looking forward to getting this game I've got plenty of money to go out and buy a game, but the problem is our family is rather short on money right now, so I don't know how my parents would react to me going out and buying a game Anyways, that's not a discussion that belongs in this thread, so I'll leave it there.

The first time I heard of this, I thought it was basically going to be another Star Fox 64. I took a look at some screenshots of it on Gamespot, and I still feel that I'm partly right with my assumption, but the addition of being able to walk around outside of your Arwing and whatever the tank is called looks cool.

I liked the parts in Star Fox Adventures where you needed to fly to different areas of the game to complete different tasks, so I can only hope some part(s) of this game are like, or better than that

What do you think about it now that you've played it some? Is it at all like you expected it to be?

Overall the game looks pretty neat, and I'm looking forward to picking up a copy of it sometime in the future

It's not out yet here.

I heard mixed comments about it, but well. I probably wind up buying it anyway, it's gotta have much better multiplayer that SF64 at least.

Wow. So I finished the game, right? It kicks ass. Multiplayer kicks ass, too. I heard that it was bad but my intuition said differently, and yeah. It's awesome. One problem: Wolf is a tad too good in Multiplayer :x

Anyway, multiplayer really is the best part of the game, it'll be a tad too short if you don't have friends since story mode doesn't have a branching overworld, and you always play the same ten levels. Despite this, single-player is still quite fun.

I'm sure you all saw how dull and boring the main parts of Star Fox Adventures are. Don't worry; even though you're on foot quite a bit of the time, it's far better than it was in Star Fox Adventures.

Also, do the Aparoids seem like an organic Borg to anyone else?

Excellent, sounds nice, I plan on renting it either this weekend, or in a few weekends. I not sure if I'm going to buy yet, but it sounds great coming from someone that I KNOW isn't a dumbass/fanboy.

Didn't quite a few people have it BEFORE today?

I preferred the original Star Fox; the game hasn't gotten terrible reviews but nothing glowing or anything like that. I do like the various side quests and unlockables, however. Leave it to Namco to come up with some smart ideas there.

Yeah, the reason for that is while it came out yesterday, it was available for renting back on the third.

And yeah, the original Star Fox was quite good.

I bought it and am on mission 3 right now and am already enjoying it. The game is fast paced and is not always boring. I yet to try multiplayer, but I will hopefully... if my sister or brother want to play it...

Good game... good game.

Colleen: People could rent it before today at Blockbuster. I know that much. Don't know about buying it, though...

Grey: Both... It was originally a pure flying game, except the sub and tank, and that is how some people wish it had stayed.

Grey: Both, really. There's also the Landmaster tank, and twice in the game you're on a flying vehicle's wing.

Editation: Dracoon: In the original Star Fox, there was no tank and there was no sub. Try again :x

I think when he said "originally", he meant that it was originally planned to only have the Arwing, sub, and tank... I doubt he was referring to the original Star Fox there.

I'm going to get this on the first, hopefully, assuming the local game stores aren't sold out...

But Assault doesn't have the sub. It seems rather doubtful that they would do that. Plus, the vehicles he listed were in SF 64, so...

Well, I bought it yesterday, and beat it the same day (Roughly 2 Hrs). Heres what i thought:

If you like SF 64, you'll love this game. More objectives, weapons, explorations, and goodies. SF fans favorate. The one thing that bothered me is that there is no co-op mode, something that Nintendo SAID was going to be the "hot spot" of the game. Namco pulled it out when the game was released, that pissed me off. The multiplayer battles is real fun, but if you don't have 4 Players playing, the giant stages can be consuming for 2 players, and weapons are a chore to find before your opponents comes blasting your hide.

Single player is a blast. I loved the walk on foot battles and jump into your vehicles for the fight, although I found it annoying to constenly have to save my partners from enemies (2 other partners is free, but I have to stop what I doing to save them). The story line is very engaging, the graphics are great (think Metroid Prime),and the controls are nice (you have to get used to them).

I heard the bad reviews, but If youre a die hard SF fan, this game has enough of SF 64 in it with new twist

StarFox was named Starwing (Arwing, Starwing, get it?) in Europe, and StarFox 64 was named LylatWars (obvious play on Star Wars). They should of stuck with Starwing.

It's all due to a whole legal thing with an obscure company that owns the tradmark StarFox or something like that. I don't think it's a problem anymore, StarFox Adventures did not get a name change.

I'll probably get this game whatever it's like, I'm just a big fan of the StarFox series. And it has Krystal in it. Whoo.

I have tried out the game and I think that I should give what I felt about this game after playing it... *Clears throat*

Starfox: Assault was a pretty interesting game at first. It was nice to get back into the old style of this game, but it was kind of a let down. Not a huge let down, but it just didn't keep me as glued as the earlier StarFox games (not including Starfox Adventures) did. I was REALLY hoping for Co-op Mode, but surprisingly... nope. Namco decided that Co-op Mode was too hard to do or it was un. Also, you better have lots of contact with at least 2 friends if you wanna enjoy the game as much as you can. Single player mode was good, but it sure didn't feel all that grand to me. It was missing some elements which I liked about Starfox and Starfox 64. I think the difficulty in this game's fine. You're probably die a couple of times on Bronze, die some more on Silver, and I'm not sure on Gold yet, because I didn't have the motivation to play the game afterwards. This is mostly from a single player overview. I'm sure this game would have been a lot more fun with some friends, but I never got the chance to try it out.

One thing that I will slightly mention that I was a little bummed about was the bosses. I won't go into detail, but... some of them just lacked some innovation...

Like Link2004 said, graphics are fun, and controls are pretty nice. The storyline is pretty much Starfox-like, but... it's not very engaging in my opinion. It may have had a few twists, but... I honestly which they could have made the single player game longer. I understand that there is one big reason WHY the game's not long, but still... That was one of the main disappointments, because it felt like the road of enjoyment of exploring many Starfox environments was pulled out from under my feet. That's alright, if a sequel ever happens, maybe they will consider the idea next time.

All in all, Starfox: Assault is a good game to rent or try out before you buy. If you like it or you have lot of gaming buddies you play with everyday, buy and enjoy it. Otherwise, I think the concept of this game was good and it gave me an idea of how things were going in the world of Starfox after all the recent games and such. I'm REALLY glad they brought Falco back. That's always a welcome. I'm sure, in my opinion, that it's not the best StarFox game, it's better than Starfox Adventures.

Score: 7.6 out of 10.0

Well, the name change didn't make that much of a diffrance. It was still called Starfox ingame and such.

Maybe that company they had legal problems with don't exist anymore, I know for sure that there was actually another game before Starwings that as in 3D and was called Star*something* and was made by Argonaut Games. The ones who made the orginal Starfox for SNES together with Nintendo. Besides the fact that Arwing <> Starwing (as Fyxe pointed out), there was also a game named Pilotwing... which is kinda forgotten today.

Lylatwars did make sense in a way, since the star system is called Lylat system. And according to the SNES booklet, it's located in the core of Milkey way. At least I think it was... *digs up SNES booklet* Yes it is.

And I heard about the overpowered Wolf in Multiplayer, but then it's good that severeal people can choose severeal of the same charachter. So everyone can be Krystal if they wish, from what I heard.

No Co-op mode of any kind is a big disapointment thought, unless it's a hidden unlockable of some kind. But if there were, I would know it by now so I doubt it... they were promising that back at last E3. :/

At least it's better than Starfox adventures, right? (I can see why Nintendo sold Rare after playing that game...)

Falco, heh. There is a manga on what happened before Starfox Adventures and why he disappeared. If I only found that manga again...

Kitten Yiffer... maybe you shouldn't spoil some of the game's secrets, and it's been made clear enough that Namco took Co-op Mode out, unless they're planning to make it up for the much later release date. I'm kind of hoping that they do, actually.
