I'm wondering if the SMB1-remix part of this music is part of the SPC itself, or a separate SPC. In my hack, I don't want that part to play (as it's not a "Special" world)and am wondering if that needs SPC hacking.

Sorry if this sounded noobish, but this has had me confused for a while =\

This phrase makes no sense to me. Do you want to ask whether the SMB1 remix music is a part of the special world track or what? If it is so, my answer is no. The SMB1 remix part of the track belongs to the same song in the SPC, so you won't come around changing the SPC data for it, although I predict you'd only have to change exactly two bytes (namely cutting off one index from the corresponding pattern table).

Whats wrong with that phrase? It makes perfect sense. He wants to know if its part of the same song, or if it opens another song eventually.

An "SPC" isn't a song. In my terms, an SPC can be
(a) the sound processor of the SNES (SPC-700, to be exact)
(b) a dump of the memory contents of this processor.

If you archivate these SPC dumps, you might end up with having every SPC (dump) playing back a different song, but technically, you absolutely can not call a song "an SPC". Besides, I already answered the question as you interpreted it, Kario.

It's not the right term, but if you understand it then who really cares? Anyway, it is the same track (I know because I have all the songs dumped as SPCs) but getting rid of that should be easy. The song just uses a 'loop 8 times' command before going into the SMB1 music, so you just have to find that and change it to an infinite loop, should just be a one-byte change. AFAIK, SMW's music data is pretty much the same as it is in an SPC file after the first 256 bytes, so you should be able to just muck around with the SPC until you get it, then find and change it in the ROM.
