They could rerelease all 6 NES Megaman games in one cartridge with improved graphics and music for the DS.

I've heard that on Gamespy that there will be a "major defection" at E3 this year...

Something along the lines of Square going back to Nintendo, or something related to it. This is just a rumor, though.

And, you should hear the rumors I've heard about the Revolution...if you ask me, Nintendo's about to go right back to the top...

While I'd absolutely love SquareEnix going back to Nintendo, I would consider that to be HIGHLY unlikely. I could see them giving the Revolution some support but that's about it really.

Maybe the major defection might be among the lines of a game series itself. (I think FFXIII-XV are set for the PS3, but you never know. *shrug* SquareEnix doesn't deal with MS anyways, so they're out.)

It sounded like a bigger deal than that. I think he meant more metaphorically. (This was in an interview with that one guy, the one with the ass-kicking speech.)

Well, what if Square-Enix winds up doing about the same games for the both platforms?

And well, yes they probably aren't going to touch MS. Then MS is not a popular company in Japan last I heard...

Nintendo is doing quite well for now, around here I know more people that have a Gamecube than a PS2. And I yet have to meet someone who have a X-box. So it's diffrent from country to country.

I think one major factor is price, if they succefully releases the console with a cheap price tag... the X-box/Gamecube sale rise syndrome.

I could as well mention, DS have been a success on Nintendo's part so far. It did sold more than Nintendo "predicted".

Yes, Kitten Yiffer. DS would be a success.

What other handhelds are there? The PSP. Wait. That doesn't work. The PSP is merely feces.

If I remember what I was told right this was soon after they made a mockery out of him putting him alone in his own corner at E3 with his Virtual Boy while everyone was busy with the new N64. I have played afew VB games on the PC with an emulator, and besides afew things like the red colour and price I don't see why it would of failed, it had graphics around GB quality but the ability to resize sprites and apparently use Mode 7 like the SNES, and housed games like Mario('s? Not sure) Tennis, Mario Clash, and it's own Wario Land game, just to name afew good ones.

I'm sorry, I'm just sort of stuck in the past, and also sort of angry at Nintendo of Japan, he made afew things that didn't go well like Metroid and the VB, and they treat him like crap, even though he basically invented handheld gaming. I also was shocked at the way he died when I learned about him, how he and a business partner rear ended a car, got out to try and get it fixed, and then got hit by some most likely drunk moron. I wonder how that guy feels, anyway. Does he even know who he(or possibly she even)killed? As James(Kirby PopStar) said once, if I recall correctly it went something like this, "Gunpei never got to see the sucess of the Gameboy or the DS"...
Sorry for the long post(and the glitched layout too), I just get sort of emotional about this... I think I can handle the lack of a d-pad, but I still feel mad at the VB incident...

I had a Virtual Boy. It hurt to use. I'm not defending Nintendo's actions or putting down Gunpei Yokoi, I'm just saying it wasn't a wild fluke that the VB failed.

I think Gunpei saw the original success of the GB, just nothing past that.

The popular belief regarding the VB fiasco was that Gunpei would be shifted out of the spotlight for a bit as "punishment" but would eventually come back to prominence within Nintendo. His true value was still known.

Yeah I worded that comment kind of poorly, I wasn't trying to make it sound like you didn't know, cause you quite possibly could have (and do), I just tried to point it out, just to clerify. (About Metroid)

Anyways, I do believe you're correct about the Wonderswan, him creating it after the Virtual Boy. I'm pretty sure that's what I've heard, and seen on the Icons episode about him.

What can we say about the Virtual Boy? It was ... red?

About SquareEnix, I don't think anything will surprise me. If they go with Nintendo alone, I personally don't see that as too much of a "bad thing" it would definitely benefit Nintendo, and they'd again like they did with the SNES, probably be put back on the spotlight.

But I have heard rumors myself, in magazines that SquareEnix might work along with MS also.

Thats crazy talk.

The least Nintendo can do at E3 and still please everyone is this: Playable Legend of Zelda, Video of Mario 128, and Videos and Concept Art at least of the Revolution.

As for PS3 and XBox2 so long as they are playable and we see some great looking games they will be all right.

Well, there hopefully is more legend of Zelda stuff this E3. With some luck they release that Zelda this year in Japan and maybe the start of the next year in Europa...

SM128, well. I do wonder, if they would take the Mario franchise further... 128 is a odd name. As Gamecube really isn't 128 bits.

They'll have the first one (likely) since they showed the teaser video last year. Whether it ends up becoming a Revolution game or not, I don't know.

There's a lot of things they can do to please the audience, you seem to forget that the crowds at the press conferences applaud wildly as long as no stupid moves are made.

128, obviously.

That seriously really has no meaning these days though.

But it would be funny if the Revolution switched to Mega Nintendo 256.

Damn straight The Dual Shock 2 was the last pad it felt right at home on. I expect all of the next gen pads to work it out and leave only the analogue in there. Let's face it; the damn thing was only left in there for beat 'em ups, and anyone who cares enough for a controler's performance for that application would spend the money on an arcade joystick.

Personally, I expect Microsoft to be the hottest one to watch this year. Sony have only a vague idea for a parallel processing chip that quite frankly sounds far too ambitious, and there is no concrete information about whatever Nintendo are going to attempt.
Microsoft have already reveled a major strategy that will affect the future of gaming on both a future console and on the PC, and previous console success stories have shown that strategy is always key to how your platform fares in the long term.
XNA could change the way games are developed and played forever, and offers far more to gaming than anything Sony and Nintendo have dared to dream of.
Imagine syncronising gaming across both a microsoft console and PC. The XBOX has already shown that hardware can successfully keep up with PC technology for a whole generation, and Microsoft are banking on it next time.
They've also announced that XBOX peripherals will be compatible with the PC. You can see where this is heading. Microsoft could potentially merge two of the three main areas of gaming, and present an irresistable product to developers and publishers as well as consumers.
By re-writing the rulebook, Microsoft could potentially throw all of it's might behind this, and if they execute it perfectly, they could come up with a winner.

Sony could be in big trouble. However, if Nintendo intend on re-writing their rulebook as rumours suggest, they could come up with something that Microsoft's product won't compete with.
