Im going to try this again...It seemed noone viewed my last thread becuase of the name.

Hmmm...

Damn wall.

I always wanted this...

Checky! (Look up) Dont tell me about the unfinishedness of the bottom of the platform sonics on....

Looks kinda the same...but never the less its different!

So im going for more of a level hack! If I get into pallette then fine, I will do that. But also If i get into Tile Edits then great that too. But Im aiming for levels only.
Zone 1 Act 1 is like 40 to 50 percent done. What do you think?

You could have just asked for a thread title change So anyways, it's nice to see some Sonic 2 hacks making their way over here, though this isn't the first one I've seen posted here.

I just hope you stick with it to the end, God knows we need some completed Sonic hacks

Alright cool! I was told though that mine was the first but whatever! I promise I will keep working on this as long as possible! I will finish! Also I guess I decided to Pallete hack a little the Sega intro and Title screen, becuase Tile Hacking is impossible with .bin Sega files.

Buuuuut Im keeping my Sega logo tucked away becuase it looks slick, and I added a different sound then "Seeegaa!" He he he...

Screens:
Number two looks like something in Emerald Hill 1 or Green Hill 1 (Sonic 1)... can't recall which, though. I'll check tonight, since I always fall down there...

Number five... the far-left spikes. Are those retracting spikes (the ones that go in and out)? If not, they're too low to pass, I think.

Title:
Nice job on the pallette! I like that much more than the original, aside from the red in the center...

Tile hacking is NOT impossible with .bin files. Tile hacking .smd files is where the complications come in, because they are interleaved. But .bin files are just plain, linear data.

Tamarin: That is impossible to run under, but not to spin under! Heh. Plus Im ditching the red in the Title Screen. It leaves open spaces around sonics nose.

Paraasyte: Well I tried useing TLP on my ROM and all I got was fugged gfx.

After opening the bin-format ROM in TLP, go to View -> Format -> Genesis. Then scroll down a ways and look at all the purdee graphics.

Im not a nub! I did that lmao! It came up all garbeled...
So yes it is impossible until I figure out whats wrong.
BTW new pic!

HAHAHAH! I edited the pallete! I cant believe I broke my back over it too.
Just kidding.
It took me like 8 minutes. Tops.
So Zone 1 Act 1 is about 70 percent done.
Yes its progressing slowly, but thats becuase it takes
about a week to make a GOOD level in hacks.
At least for me.

It sounds like your tiles are misaligned, sonny. I don't know how TLP does it, but in YY-Chr press the +- keys to get them to align. Your problem may be as simple a thing as that.

Hold control, then press the left and right arrow keys to do that in TLP.

Oh man... I had a Sonic 1 hack finished before you even got started on this hack! (Get it at my homepage, check my Profile.) Still, awesome hack. I was into Sonic hacking for quite some time. Are you using SonEd or ESEII? The latter is something you generally want to avoid in Sonic 2 hacking, take it from an advanced Sonic hacker, bro. You should call the first level Autumn (something), not just Emerald Hill. There is an editor you can use to change the names of the levels.

It's turning out great, man. I like your creativity with the spikes and the bridge... I would personally never suggest it, but it's creative, and that's what I go for. Keep up the mastery! Yeah!

Hey, how is Chemical Plant going to look? With some insane tile editing skills, you could turn it from a factory into something similar to Stardust Speedway in Sonic CD... That's always been a big dream of mine. But you probably have your own ideas. What I go for in Sonic hacks are levels with many, many different ways to get to the exit. It's hard to do, but it makes a helluva level.

Any other questions, PM me and I'll help you out. I'm a Sonic fanatic; been playing the games since I was 3 years old. I know everything about the games, so you can trust me.

EDIT: All the GFX in the Rom except Sonic and Tails's GFX are compressed. You need a GFX Decompressor to uncompress them, and there are quite a few decompressors out there that are Sonic Game-specific.

Alright! I got the Title Card editor and I tried alligning the GFX but like Schwa said, I need to decompress them. And if i can edit the tiles, then there will be some helluva changes in future levels.

Yes I have multiple ways to get to the exit to, I can count 4.
Im using ESEII sooo...I dont know if that was the latter or not...
I cant remember English class from last year so :

**Wait** Three years old!? Well for me it came out when I was 2...and I believe I started playing at...maybe 4?
I have played every Sonic game thinkable to man, for see I am also a fanatic.
You know Sonic Crackers? I, believe it or not, got a pirate copy off Ebay,
that was the same as the known ROM, uncompleted and all, and it was only
8 bucks!
Alright back on topic!
....I've got nothing more to say really.
Thanks for the feedback guys!

(This post is gonna be REAL snobby, friends, but it's a joke)

Pff... Sonic fanatic? Let me test you to see if you ARE what you say, kid.

1) Tell me the location of the Enemy Transporter in Quartz Quadrant Act 1, Sonic CD.

2) Tell me the names of the two Zones Metal Sonic impersonates the bosses of in Sky Sanctuary, S&K.

3) Tell me exactly how to have all 7 Emeralds in Sonic 2 BEFORE finishing Emerald Hill Zone, w/o cheating. It's possible.

Now, folks, lets see if the apprentice hath found his way to mastery... Sonic&tails, let's see if you can answer these Sonic Fanatic questions. (I do this to anyone who claims they are a Sonic fanatic, for I was so into Sonic when I was young that I lost all my friends and had none for 7 years, because they didn't want to be around me because Sonic was all I cared about. Beat that, I dare ya!)

Genesis graphics are almost always compressed, so just opening the ROM in a tile editor won't do any good. Specific tools have to be written, just like FuSoYa's Lunar Compress, though it seems very few people have bothered to do so.

Well, there's actually a Sonic-specific decompressor/re-compressor out there... I'll give you guys a very special link. It goes to the Sonic Hacking Community; there you'll find a message board, many downloads and a ton of cool Sonic hacks for several of the games.

http://www.shadowsoft-games.com/ssrg

Take the time to look around. It's all pretty cool. I became a member at one point, but it's been months since I visited back and probably never will again. I just lost my intrest in Sonic-hacking.

Hmm...

To get the Super Sonic in Sonic 2 first zone, all you have to do is get 50 rings, go in the Post Warp, get the Emerald, and then get 50 rings again, and go to the next post. Theres about three posts in Act 1 and then theres like 5 or 6 in Act 2, and in which if you get all the Emeralds from those posts, you can be Super Sonic! That wasent too hard I've known that one.

Mecha Sonic....Geez...I just dont recall him copying bosses. I know he jumps spins around, powers up on the Emerald and thats it.

And the Quatz Quadrant...I believe its in the under part of the level where theres this tube thingy. I GTG TO sCHOOL SO BBL

Yeah, well I helped discover glitches like that in SADX! Hah! I almost got into the Twinkle Circuit level with Tails! (The level entrance coding isn't there.)

Anyways, I love this. Sonic hacking may give me some desire to really start hacking again.. I may try it out. Just need to find a rom, and some other goodies.
