I think you should judge a request for more money on the merits of the request, not the size of the request.

If $87 billion will better accomodate a transition out of Iraq I would not be opposed.

i think...the $87 billion dollars is via credit and not in cold cash although realistically, it needs to have a physical standing though... I wonder how much assets does the government really have on hand...

And that huge pile is with only $1 bills, which would be pretty stupid but does give a good idea of how much $87 billion really is

But even with $100 bills, you'd still be looking at the $900 million pile ... or with $1000000 bills (do they even exist?), the $72000 pile

Meh. Given that all those are just $1 bills, I'm not that impressed.

You want overkill? Let's see that in pennies, chief.

I agree with this statement and with Math's.

Besides, of course it'll look a hella lot of money wen you use one dollar bills.

You know, if people are worried about the whole that we are in, why not take the money from the actors, pro players and so on...do they really need another jet or five houses and a tropical island?

Let's not turn this into a political debate. I just like the nice way of putting the huge sum into perspective.

Did they really have to use a picture where bush looks like an orangotang?

Be glad that most money is... electronic.

...can anyone tell me how this goes together with tax cuts thought?

Given that this was in Craziness Domain, I wasn't sure if there was any political aim to the thread or not.

Holy crap. That'd be a ridiculously huge pile of even $1000s, which I think is the highest that exists. I sure wish I had that much.

Hell, just look at the number itself. $87,000,000,000.00 - that's a lot of zeros.

If the largest was $100k, why do I see a $100.000.000 bill/note there.

What would everyone do with so much money?

There is a difference between a bill and a treasury note. A bill is your own money vs. a Treasury note is a loan to the government. Therefore, you can use a bill to buy goods but treasury notes you can't buy anything until you get the money back from the government.
