| Love is. Thats the only was to describe it. It isnt a feeling or emotion or train of thought. You love someone. You know you do. Someone asks you how you feel about them. Love. Thats all you can say. Not, "She makes me feel warm inside" or "I like her smile." It is just "I love her" When you have love for someone, you know it, others will see it, and hopefully, that person will return it. EDIT: The whole romance thing, I am a "hopeless romantic" as they call it. I want to do the whole romantic thing. Flowers on the first date. Dinner by candle light on a special day. | Depends if you want to be dramatic or a hopeless romantic about it. I call it experience. Obviously, people are going to get attracted to other people somewhere down the line but not necessarily for the whole reproduction deal either, the whole love thing is not synonymous to the loving people of the opposite gender either, that's a choice up to the individual and what they feel is right for them when something of that nature starts creeping up in someone's thought pattern about someone else. I'll try not to be too cold on the way to this one but... Vast majority of the time: Love is irrational thought. Don't jump on me yet, let me explain. The vast majority of the cases I hear are those that are the hopeless romantic Romeo-and-Juliet wannabe die-for-your-spouse couples that usually end up in a bust at the end. This leads to a slew of things that would end in broken people and broken emotions. Vast majority of the time, that's just reality. People don't necessarily have to do that whole junior high gig by thinking that having someone makes you any better of a person. There's none of that validating your existance part in it that makes sense most times, anyways. However, you have the other part that works out after a number of different things. This is just the part that has worked the problems out to a point that they can tolerate each other's existence and the feelings are at least somewhat mutual. This can get to a point where the couple can stay together for a few months or sometimes years and even be married for decades. The only thing is that it usually can end up turning into divorce and claimed only as infatuations because the couple wasn't ready for the experience. That's a good 99% of romance right there. Broken promises and excuses. However, there is a sliver left in the whole equation where the idea of 'true love' represents itself. This is the one where a couple stick by each other no matter what the circumstances, no matter how good or bad the problems get and no matter what happens they'll always stick by you until the very end. Sort of a 'until death do us part' here. This is what most people will want to claim for themselves in their lifetimes but figure either fall short or figure that they do. There's another side to love though, approaching people in general with it, caring about other people, not necessarily because of soul-searching but because of respect and friendship, in which you delicate feelings of the other person are in the balance. Keeping with this notion for a second, if you've made one good friend in your entire life and keep it, then you just found a way to what the term true love really is, except in this particular case, it's not in romance gain. If you love someone enough you'd want to be with them always right? Same thing for friends? Doesn't make you any different than whatever preference you choose in terms of romance. Just someone to hang out with, for eternity I guess. Caring, listening, understand...all of these work under the definite of love but it's not bound by romance unless you're on the account of the Ladder Theory (see thread in Anya's) but even then, that's self-gain purposes if you believe in that. Not like I'd go up to my best friend who's a guy and start spouting stuff about how I love him and stuff because in this day and age that will make you look like something your not with the way stereotypes and insults fly. It's just a matter of knowing, even by not saying. That all said, it really is an experience: learning who people are other than you and the way you feel about it with your emotions. |

| Its something we all take for granted...love is the most wonderful thing you could ever feel, ever. Love is when...well, if you mean love for a person as opposed to love for say, a favorite song..love is when you care about someone just so deeply that nothing else matters. All that matters is the two of you. When you love someone the rest of the world just seems to go by, but that's okay, it dosn't matter to you...love is a wonderful thing, and if you ever truly find it, hold on to it and never let it go, for true love is a very rare thing in this world here in this day and age...and if you find it, then you truly are fortunate |
