No, alphas are the ones that aren't even finished yet. Betas are the ones that were thought to be finished but always turn out to need a lot of fixing.

"somerandomperson@hotmail.com has added you to their buddy list!" Multiply by about 628 every time you log in and you end up with a list full of people you've never heard of. if I wanted people to know I was adding them, I'd *gasp* tell them! I'm sure they'd appreciate it a lot more than a big popup box out of nowhere too. And name one half-decent IM service that doesn't have all those other features?

My post there was sarcasm...

Besides I never abuse that naming feature much, it happened that I have named myself Kitten Yiffer - "crap". But I tend to rename myself as soon someone starts talking to me.

I get like one guy every six months, and I'm not even on "exclusive" mode. I didn't say it was omg the greatest, I was saying that it was very decent and forgot about this niggling detail, which can be annoying if people abuse it, I guess.

MSN is picky to when it wants to be used for me. Also it doesn't work for me on trillian. I mainly use Yahoo and trillian for AIM.

I get more random people from AIM than on MSN, then I pretty much hide my MSN expect for the closest friends.

If you're on MSN, your an "close enough" friend.
