Fixed it up a bit for ya.

MSN has to be one of the biggest pieces of crap there is. The buddy list system is ridiculous, the software itself just sucks so bad, and it's a cold day in hell I see anyone on it with a triple-digit IQ. The only feature anywhere near good is the ability to change your name, and it still sucks because it lets people have such ridiculously long names.

There's a few kids at school who seem to think the chalkboard at the back of the math room is MSN.

I'll second this. I'll also go directly against HyperHacker's "the buddy list system is ridiculous". No, no it's not. It's got groups, which is good. It sits on the server, which is good. It can store people in it, which is good, and kinda required. What's so bad about it?

With Messenger Plus! on top of vanilla MSN Messenger, or pretty much any third party client, you can also rename the contacts.

Lack of inline formatting sucks. Winks, nudges and games suck. Custom smileys, however, rules. I don't know why more IM networks don't have them.

And lastly, let's try to seperate morons from software fallacies. I know that a neighbor of mine successfully coordinates a department of 30 via MSN. a/s/l isn't the fault of AIM or MSN. It's the fault of you talking to people that like to say a/s/l.

Well basically: I use AIM for people I know on the internet and MSN for people I know in real life. It's a general rule that is usually broken. The people I know in real life are too stupid to know that if I dont answer, I must not be there and will consistantly say "Are you there?" if I dont have a "Be Right Back" status. With AIM it doesnt have much of a way of having multiple statuses, but it doesnt matter. People who I talk to with AIM usually know that if I dont answer I must be doing something. So it all is working pretty good.

I've heard it's the best and "has the coolest smilies" but eh ... so?

Face it, for me at least, everyone I talk to is through AIM, and I'm too lazy to "re-add" a ton of people to another messanger, AIM is just fine for me.

MSN has improved with the latest beta, even if the nudges are hugely annoying, you can turn them off. I especially like the handwrite feature; Check what I did .

AIM is okay, functions great as an IM, lacks style, only font customizing and buddy icon is ew.

YIM and ICQ .. won't even go into that bundle of crap.

Sometimes messages won't just get sent, and that's the most strange but annoying bug. And I have no idea what causes it...

Now MSN in school starts to anoy me too. I marked one of the menus with the pointer at the top but when I clicked on them they got unmarked.

I had to shut it down via Ctrl-alt-die...I mean Ctrl-alt del.
