wind: your posts were small, and didn't take much thought or attention to read and reply to.... his, would take a lot more time and thought...

and it does help when there is more than 1 person trying to argue something.... I wouldn't be on my own trying to answer all the questions and points being raised....

which, I still don't have the time, or the motivation to address

[edit] oh, and this post took me about 1 minute to post.... which isn't very much.... it's pretty much the maximum amount of time I want to be spending here right now [/edit]

Marriage is a union between two people. I see nothing wrong with any two people willingly getting married to one another. In my opinion, its not what marriage is for but I won't vote against it (I actually voted for it).

However, In my personal opinion marriage should be reserved for those who are planning on creating a family with each other. I know my defination isn't fair to those who can't produce children but its the way I view it. I don't plan on marrying anyone unless I want to start a family with them.

Are you implying that because Rando and I are undecided on the entire child issue and may therefore decide not to have any, our relationship is not serious enough for us to deserve the slew of benefits conferred by legal marriage?

I voted for same sex marriages because I believed their relationships were serious enough to deserve benefits that come marriage, why would I look at yours any differently?

I was just stateing my personal opinion on what marriage meant to me.

geeogree: So... in other words, the reason you never responded to my arguments is "cuz its haaaaaaard "?

Bear in mind that I (by myself) have already expended considerable effort defending my position; if your position has as much merit as you think, then the least you could do is to do the same for yours. Your unwillingness to defend your position is a tacit admission that your position has no defense.

Assuming your cited statistics are correct, then your side does indeed have more people, and you are very quick to claim "majority rules". In this thread, though, our side has more people, and you claim "it's not fair; their side has more people!".
You'll note that, in spite of your position having more people defending it, we do not claim "no fair". Only you do.

Perhaps the fact that the vast majority of the people in this thread are aligned against you, should be taken to indicate the unpopularity of your position here.

In conclusion, I offer arguments to defend my position. You offer only excuse after excuse to defend yours. The effort you should have been expending on defending your position, has instead been used to clearly establish that you will not do so. At least accept defeat graciously, concede your position, and save what little face you have left.

Don't flame when you're using sarcasm yourself. You got pwned and you're trying to avoid VN's posts.

Anything like "omfg gays cnt m ary" is almost totally religion driven. That is how the decision was made in office. But that makes sense, seeing as we have a president "that god chose".

How does it hurt you? Is it killing anybody? Do you disagree with gays having sex? You don't? Then good, shut the fuck up about them getting married, it's the same thing.

Address by Prime Minister Paul Martin on Bill C-38 (The Civil Marriage Act)

February 16, 2005

Ottawa, Ontario

Check against delivery

I rise today in support of Bill C-38, the Civil Marriage Act. I rise in support of a Canada in which liberties are safeguarded, rights are protected and the people of this land are treated as equals under the law.

This is an important day. The attention of our nation is focused on this chamber, in which John Diefenbaker introduced the Bill of Rights, in which Pierre Trudeau fought to establish the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Our deliberations will be not merely about a piece of legislation or sections of legal text - more deeply, they will be about the kind of nation we are today, and the nation we want to be.

This bill protects minority rights. This bill affirms the Charter guarantee of religious freedom. It is that straightforward, Mr. Speaker, and it is that important.

And that is why I stand today before members here and before the people of this country to say: I believe in, and I will fight for, the Charter of Rights. I believe in, and I will fight for, a Canada that respects the foresight and vision of those who created and entrenched the Charter. I believe in, and I will fight for, a future in which generations of Canadians to come, Canadians born here and abroad, will have the opportunity to value the Charter as we do today - as an essential pillar of our democratic freedoms.

There have been a number of arguments put forward by those who do not support this bill. It
