| You know what. That report is inherently flawed as quoted from Cannabis Culture "almost all studies of marijuana are conducted with problems. The first and foremost is meddling due to funding from the War on Drugs". As you can see the slant comes from anywhere. If this is a cry for tougher pot enforcement and an attack on my lifestyle choice. Go bugger yourself. I don't want people telling me what to do with my body. |

Wouldn't this thread fit better in debate now? Considering it's turning into a debate.  I wouldn't use thoose drugs becuse of severeal reasons. Such as not knowing if it's clean and well. | Yes Trapstar, except the part that pot does brain damage, or serious brain damage anyways. I know plenty of people that smoke it, none have double personalities (that is schizo right?) and none of them are stupid... ummm unaturally. Pot doesn't hurt anyone, people just say it does, you know... like video games. |

| I have friends who smoke and are normal people, with jobs/school. Course, my mother used to smoke it as well, but I'm not gonna touch that one. About two years ago, I was hanging out at my friends house and they were smoking outside. All one of them could talk about was his knee feeling funny! Aw, funny shit. Personally, I have no problem with it, unless they're sold to kids (ie not teenagers) and if its forced on someone who doesn't want to try it, or that they abuse it. Its their body, their right, as long as they are not hurting anyone. I've never tried it, until last week Sunday. Being withy asthma since I was about 12, I tried to avoid the stuff, and never smoked anything. I was out with some old friends from my past job, and I was like, "what the heck, at least I can say that I tried it once". So I took one puff, and that was it and will never have it again. My friend was happy that I had my first puff with her, though. Anyway, it didn't mess with my asthma, and actually, it felt like my lungs opened up a bit more due to the one puff, but then again, I only took one hit, so what am I to say, right? |

| Actually, the long term effects of marijuana are done by studies that are merely hypothetical. Very few long term studies have been done, and the ones I've read about have all been done exclusively by governments that are lax on drug policy, US tests are generally hypothetical and done in closed lab environs. And Nebetsu, you have schizophrenia wrong, like many others. Schizophrenia can manifest in multiple ways, the parts you have mentioned, as well as the previously mentioned split-personality delusion (there are about 5-15 recorded historical cases of true split-personality disorder). As well as more subtle manifestations, such as minor twitches, chronic lying and other relatively benign features. The allusion that marijuana will cause shizophrenia is fairly silly, given that the study doesn't specify whether this pertains to women or men (of which there are vastly different #/pop. of schizophrenics). In fact, during the late 70s I read about several psychiatrists that were talking about how if pot were legalized it could be used as a treatment for various mental conditions without harsh physiological side-effects. They also said that a pure form of LSA (a relatively of acid) and MDMA/derivitives (ecstasy) had positive implications in the treatment of post-rape/sexual abuse trauma victims. Unfortunately these two substances were moved to the US schedule I before testing could begin in earnest. Also, there is a VERY respected Canadian historian, Mr. Pierre Burton, who will take anything said and turn it back at anti-pot people. RIP Mr. Burton. (edited by Ziffski on 01-31-05 06:07 PM) |

I doubt this is true, I really really do. I have friend who have smoked marijuana for a long time and I never see him/her depressed nor do they ever seem like it. I know family members who have done it too. Even if it does make you depressed when you are OLDER just smoke it when you are older too. Marijuana will calm you down. |
