Uh, just because they created it, it doesn't mean that we have to follow their standards.
If you don't follow them, you won't become a crappy sucky stupid dumbass who cant make money coder. I'm prettu sure of it.

ZOMG I DONT HAEV A PONEIS GAVN WIZN LOLOZZZ!!!111

And it's funny... I always thought Al Gore invented the internet... xD

Anyway, good for W3. They know how to force their standards down your throat. Still doesn't make them right. If their way was right, then why were other languages made? PHP, ASP, DHTML, etc.? Oh yeah: 'cause HTML didn't do everything that people wanted. Kinda like how C/C++ were created, when there was already BASIC.

Unless your homepage is stuck on W3C, you don't have to go there.

uh, what're you talking about? Of course those were created because we couldn't do what we wanted with HTML.

You really don't know what you're talking about, at this point. No one will care if you just say you're wrong. XD

omfg Elric, grow a brain.

Why were PHP and other programming languages invented if there was this allmighty, superpowerful XHTML you ask? Because HTML is a markup language and things like PHP are meant to do something completely different. Jesus christ, of all people, YOU, a person who has been using PHP longer than I did, should've known that.

The stupidity.

PHP is entirely separate from HTML. PHP just happens to be geared towards dynamic web-page generation and the like.

HTML is a standardized way of transmitting data across the world wide web. at least it used to be until everyone broke it

They've shoved their standards down the throats of you, narf, and Gavin, and now you three are trying to shove them down everyone elses throats. I don't NEED to visit their site to have them try to tell me what's right. They have mindless zombies to do it for them.

Reread this ENTIRE thread. Notice where it's said that XML was merged with HTML? If HTML was up to standard, there would have been no reason for the merge.

Why are you BASHING standardization and W3C? I don't care if you're lazy and don't want to standardize, but DON'T FUCKING BASH WHAT IS RIGHT.

If HTML was up to standard, there would have been no reason for the merge.

So, wait, let me reread this line... you're saying that the HTML scripting language sucks entirely, and it's W3C's fault?

First of, it's not their standards, they're THE standards.

They've shoved nothing down my throat. I just realised using XHTML is a lot better for my webpages because I had people constantly telling me something didn't look right or work right in browser X back when I didn't. Whether it's the fact that I make proper webpages in XHTML or not, I don't know, but it remains a fact that I'm still a far more succesfull webdesigner than you morons rejecting the very own standards themselves. I got somewhere, you didn't.

I just LOVE how people who are wrong always end up calling other people names, or calling them stupid, or insulting them. Fun, really.

Anyway, I'm not bashing W3. Or standardization. Just pointing out that just because W3 thinks they're right, doens't mean they are.

And if W3 invented HTML, and HTLM sucks, then that would put the blame on their doorstep, wouldn't it? Of course, I'm just saying that if HTML was as great & powerful as W3 thinks it is, then there would have been no need to XML, as HTML would have already done that.

HTLM? ;o

Your argument completely changed when you realised you were wrong. It went a little bit like this:

"we dunt ned 2 uze pr0per html lols it works fien 4 me"
"dude, my computer crashes when I try to view it."
*pause*
"lol u suk html suks newayz"

Lol, are you telling Gavin, windwaker and I are wrong? Why are we wrong? Because we use something as intended? You're the one who's wrong, and you know it.

You're comparing things again that have no relevance to eachother at all, or just slightly. HTML is the language webpages are parsed in. PHP is a server-side language. XML is like a universal data format, and so on, and so on. They haven't been created as replacements for HTML, which you are claiming.

Using messy HTML instead of XHTML is either the lack of a brain, or a fat ass lacking motivation.

of course not. just because someone says they are right doesn't mean they are. but in this case they are correct, so why even bring it up??

You're right. And by that logic we should have skipped strait from black and white TV's to Color TV's. Because obviously b/w was not as great and powerful as it's inventors thought it was. I'm sorry that they can't see into the future to be able to tell which parts of their languages would work best and which would not. Things take time to evolve. Obviously if they had a better way to transmit data at the time they would have fucking done it.

HTML doesn't suck, it's just that a better way was created and is being introduced. Jesus, give them some credit for their first try.

What sucks is that people are too dumb to use HTML correctly.

That would be great, if I was looking for a career in webpage design. By that logic, I'll be better than you when I build & repair computers, because I got somewhere in the PC repair world, and you didn't.

I don't recall XKeeper, knuck, or myself saying that we wanted to be webdesigners. You just seem to assume we do, just because you're one.

What makes you right? Just because some website says you are, it doesn't mean you are. And I'm not saying you're right or wrong. All I'm saying, all I've BEEN saying, is that W3 is NOT the be all end all of HTML.
