Ya know that ForteZero person long before the board got erased? I wonder what came up with him. I've heard that he was gonna create a SMW hack that was more like Fusoya's, in combination of anyone else's.... Anyone know if he's released the hack yet?

.... Super Mario World : SuperStar Series? That hack... yes... I've got it....Even if i released it, no one won't be able to expand the ROM memory. It is far larger than the memory selections in Lunar Expand.Until then... wait til you atleast get more EXP newcomer... And before anyone else wonders who this is... I am ForteZero.EXE.... A soul deleted in 200X.

Umm, ForteZero.. You're a newcomer too, i wouldn't be talking like that -- Experience does not denote knowledge or skill, but posting ability. And if LE can't expand it, how did you, huh, huh? Maybe Stryker was a high poster before "Erasure", but i don't know.. You see what i'm getting at, right? I hope so.

Ok. First, never judge people by their experience.

Second, there is no way you made that hack bigger than LE could make. If that is the case, then how big will the IPS be? Doesn't LE go up to 68 mb? I forget...

There are other programs that expand roms...

*Goes to find them...

yeah here!

It's called Jabba. I expanded a SMW rom to like 20 megs just to see if it would work. It did.

Depends what you mean by "work". Just because the ROM reaches that size and plays in an emulator doesn't mean the expansion "works"... If the extra space in the ROM file is not actually addressable in the game, the game can't use it and it's just a waste of hard drive space.

AFAIK, the limit is 8 MB for SNES.

So that means, Star Ocean with its 64 megabits is the biggest ROM ever possible for SNES ?
8 megabyte is quite huge for a SNES-ROM; just think how many SMW levels you could fit in there ... or the amount of space for ExGFX and such

1) Do not judge people on EXP. EXP means almost nothing... until the battle thing is made, which won't be a for a while.
2) Lunar Expand can increase the size of the ROM up to 8 megabytes. No SNES ROM can be larger than that. ZSNES doesn't even support ROM's that are 8 megs (although SNES9x can).

For those who didnt know me before... I was a high ranker before the "Erasure" Incident. But let's forget about FZ for now.... Just hopes that he thinks about making his Hack public.... which for some reason, will be held off for some time.... Don't ask why, Just a feeling...

SNES9X.
He didn't ask for an emulator that supports it, he asked when it will be in ZSNES. Try one of the Work-in-progress builds.

the theoretical maximum is a bit less than 64mbit AFAIK, but then youd have only
32mbits that could actually be accessed at fastrom speed, like with the ex- memmaps.
ok, super mario world is slowrom, so this wont matter anyway.
it would also be theoretically possible to make your own mappers to make the rom as big as you want, but this would only work with the real hardware for now.
besides, the whole idea is total nonsense.
32mbits is already more than sufficient.
i mean, have a look at the available mario world hacks.
demo world tlc is 48mbit but more than %50 of the rom is just wasted space.
this is no big deal with emus, but very annoying if you want to play the hacks on a real snes.

fusoya:
i assume there is some technical limitation that prevents you from using all the space in the given romspace, huh?
i tried rearranging some data and then updating the corresponding pointers in a hexeditor, but it didnt work out.
could you explain this to me in detail?
is there any possibility to make better use of the space in a future version of LM?

What, in DWTLC? Not really... grab a copy of Lunar Address and use the ExHiROM setting to convert addresses.

I didn't expand DWTLC to 48 mbits because I needed space. It was an experiment to make Lunar Magic compatible with a SMW ROM converted from LoROM to the larger ExHiROM map. But support for ExLoROM was added to Snes9x some time afterwards, so I dropped support plans for ExHiROM and added ExLoROM to the public build instead. I know it's highly unlikely that anyone will need it for SMW, but it may come in handy for SMAS+World, which is 3 MB to begin with.
