| Hah, the list that you were talking about was the list of the changes we were going to make, what we decided on IN the chat. I wrote that in there. So don't give me some conspiracy bullshit. It's the same list that exists in the "Halfway done" thread. Oh, and at best, 10 of those 33 staff are part of staff discussions, getting all staff together is .. impossible. There's tons that don't post in the staff forum, and if we expect all to participate, nothing will get done, the other thing that you accuse us of. We get shits if we do and if we don't. It doesn't matter if you were 1month of the air, that'd be understandable. 3 months, is STILL terrible, it's not about post cout, it's about activity, we've stated that several times. If you're not active during the past 3 months you can NOT do your duty. You can NOT participate in staff discussions which is what we want from all staff. Fact is, regular users would never notice any difference apart from "oh my best friend got demoted". They would probably be looking at a cleaner and more active staff. Postcount is not status, (Hi Yiffy Kitten, remember a specific thread in the admin forum?), it is however an indicator if they are active enough. We don't expect 20posts a day, but 20posts on a month is NOT hard, that's like .75 posts per day right there, not that hard. |

Does anyone care that this was done because a -consensus- of the board wanted it? It was entrusted to the committee to get whoever off by opinions circulated and the majority opinion told this certain person to go or this certain person to be demoted. We can only please so many, as I've said countless times already, and it seems the same four or five people are the only ones that are continuously bitching about it or whining that 'OH I GOT TREATED UNFAIRLY DE-STAFF HIM'. Here's the problem right here: how you present yourself. Tom, if you had any brain in this whatsoever, you would have CALMLY approached staff about this. Take a look at the difference between the way you approached it and the way that a lot of other staff approached it (including, even, Rydain, who got her admin job back). See a difference? Why should I take any of your opinions with a grain of salt when you're yelling all this bullshit about unfairness and injustice? Holy shit, people. Get over it. It's a messageboard. It's not the end of your existence if you lost what seems to be a MAJOR thing for you in terms of your social status...but I would wonder why you would use it as such. Quite honestly, if someone wanted me off right now, I really wouldn't mind it. Seriously. If someone decided to de-staff me right now, I wouldn't so much as flinch, because obviously they have their reasons behind that. I would go on with life and be content. No one was out to shoot down anyone's feelings, we didn't say anything about OMG Yiffy Kitten SUX or anything, you've been making yourself look like an ass on your own. I'm trying to be as nice as I can saying this too, because I'm not out for a burning flesh-fest of flame wars over the next week because of something that we took quite seriously, only for five or so people to ruin it for the rest of us, so just back off. We're done listening to you. We know you're pissed, you've made that quite evident...but we're done. No one wants to hear a sore loser. Shut up, grow up, and get over it. Move on with life. Your losses could be a lot worse than just a simple messageboard. |

| As an impartial 3rd party observer, I must say that this situation may very well shake the foundations of the acmlm board community to ruin (without a board to post at, you'll all dirft off in seperate directions). You might think this is a bit excessive but... Think about TEK. They have a very bad hacker problem. Somebody keeps going in and wreaking absolute havoc. The best thing TEK could do is switch over to a more secure message board, but the likeliness of that happening is very low, in my estimation. TEK will continue to sit there and take it until the day it breaks. You're probably wondering how in the hell this situation is in any way similiar. We'll, look at it this way. TEK made some very bad enemies. Now they have to deal with it. If this situation were to escalate to that point then the degradation that is afflicting the TEK boards and community could well happen here. I would be sad to see it happen. I've had enough of that at TEK. I think that both sides have a point. Although a lot of people are very very angry at the admins and mods now, they did not intend this to bring about such animosity and hard feelings. They meant well, but their intentions went sorely amiss. I beleive that they could have worked it out better, and definitely have avoided the situation that is building here right now. I realize that those in power can't afford to look like fools, but if both parties can't admit they made a mistake no progress will be made, and the degredation of this community will only get worse. Members of the current Acmlm Board Administration and Moderation, I mean you. No one is perfect. I ask that you try to look at this from their point of view. Also, if you are goign to insist upon making such radical changes to your... beauracracy, expect some resistence. Changes like this are not easily accepted. This is something you should have realized before you acted. And as for the second party, calm down. While there is good reason to be so riled up about this, do you really think having a flame war with those now in power is going to be in any way contructive? Angry people are not reasonable. As well, people caught up in emotions like this are prone to harsh judgements. Keep in mind that the Administration did not intend to screw you over when they were doign this. They could have done a better job of going about it, certainly, but if BOTH of you don't admit your own mistakes then you'll get exactly nowhere. Although I hope for the best, at this point i very much doubt my word will be taken seriously. If that is the case, then I hope that this board can weather the storm. I have had many good memories here, even if I do not post very often. |
