1.) Art
-My forte and my passion, I love art even on my free time.

2.) Government
-It's a pretty easy class if you've understood your American History.

3.) English
-I love reading books, getting into the story, and digging up all the answers I need. I enjoy writing (even though some may say i'm not good at it...) I think grammar is really relative of where you come from. (It's a waste of time to say how crappy one's grammar is... you're not going to change it 100%, get used to it.)

Dislike:
1.) Calculus
-Although I've no difficulty in this class, I see no point in learning so much about something that can do so little for what you want to do in life. If you can write a check, budget your money, and calculate taxes, you got it made unless you really want to be a rocket scientist.

2.) Chemistry
-Another class I am not too enthused about. I almost failed this class in 10th grade and I don't want to go hell bent for lenderhosen to work at a power plant. Science is for people who want to play with liquids and stuff like that...

3.) Spanish
-I know about as much Spanish as a 5-year old Latino would know, and that's fine, I got what I need to communicate to Hispanics. I've been to Mexico a few times and I don't intend on going back there to get my pockets looted again. Plus my last teacher spoke "Spinglish Portugese". She came from Brazil, spoke terrible English and mixed it with Spanish and Portugese, plus she mumbles half the time. How am I supposed to follow the directions when I don't understand a word you've just said?

1.) Algebra III
- Way too easy. ;P

2.) American History
- My teacher rocks. All we do is discuss things, while still learn a few things here and there. Fun class, and I usually hate History classes.

3.) Game Design / Creation
- Do I need to explain here? We used Maya last Semester, now we're supposed to be using Game Maker for a bit. Game Maker can't be "that" good can it? We also recently got to test out our created levels (again created through Alias's Maya) through Unreal, pretty neeto.

Dislike:
1.) English III
- The teacher is cool, but the class is lame. We're currently reading Huckleberry Fin, and my eyes bleed whenever "Jim" talks.

2.) Chemistry
- This class just sucks, homework, etc, and what The Raven said. The good news, whenever we're working in class sometimes my teacher will play music, which just so happens to be awesome music such as Styx, Alice Cooper, etc.

3.) Personal Finance
- Boring, lame, easy, annoying.

(The Raven, I recently saw your Photo, and now looking at your avatar I have to say "Nice". )

Enjoy

English literature

Here I am able to express my opinion on writings with other intellects. we have some good discussions and we are able to enjoy each other's critiques on the piece we are studying.

Political History

Another class with people who enjoy the subject, we have been studying the Cold War since the begining of the year. I did not have much insight on the Cold War until this year and appreciate my new found knowledge in this class.

English

This is a mandatory course, but I enjoy. We dont develop our ideas as much as I would like, but once in a while I could show off my m4d english skillz. The same teacher theaches my literature class, we get along great.

Phys Ed.

Gotta move.

Dislike

Sociology

All we do is watch movies. Sure, it sounds like fun, but it gets very tedious as the days go by. So films are interesting, but my teacher seems to have a hard time picking good ones. She shows us too many hollywood flicks.

French

A mandatory class, a depressing class. How I dread showing up for this class with a teacher annoying as nails on chalk. She tries much too hard, a bad quality for new teachers, and seems to enjoy flexing her new found authority muscles.

Programing.

It was fun last year, when we learnt how to properly use calls and functions, but this year is all math. I despise math. The teachers is a very good person. I usually end up talking with her for most of the class.

Religion

Another mandatory class at my french catholic school, but here is the good kicker, my religion teacher is a nun. She seems to fully relly on God, not wanting to take any matters into her own hands, a dreamer. Yet, she gives us so much work.

Spanish - Im way too good with this class. Its my second year so it isnt very challenging yet, but I never need to work to get an A in the class. So thats what I like about it.

Biology - It can be interesting at times, and again its the easiest A I can get.

English - I like reading good books, and Im pretty good with grammar when I need to be. If you start pointing out my errors on the interweb, I will tell you to stfu >8(.
I also have a very cool teacher this year for english, the class is actually enjoyable.

Dislikes:
AP European History - Good lord I suck at this class. Just too much information to remember in such a small class period to learn. Maybe its the fact that I have this class in the morning, or that there are way too many tests, or that my teacher is a crazy obsessed woman who is going bald and makes us waltz.. I just cant succeed.

Algebra II/Trig Acc. - By far the worst Ive ever done in a class. It beats the one above. I just dont get math. I have a mental block. I dont know why I was recommended for the Honors/Accelerated course, but I really shouldnt be there. Its like I understand it as I take the notes during class, but when I come home to do the homework its like I never learned anything. I feel dumb

Renaissance - 1945 history
Absolutely awesome course dealing with the Enlightened philosophers, nationalism, fascism and socialism. I had a shit load of fun

English
We got to read one of the best literary pieces ever, Fifth Business by Robertson Davies. We also got to do psychological critiquing and modern studies (we played Perfect Dark).

Law
A little boring, but a great course for me. There is a unit on drug laws, which I'm quite looking forward to.

Canadian History
Best. Course. Ever. It takes the position of anti-imperialism and Noam Chomsky is on the class reading list. <3 So much <3

English and World Literature
Another interesting course. We have to study Doestovesky and Tolstoy, but that is offset with Rohington Mistry and Margret Atwood.

Gr. 12 Latin
We get to study ancient Rome, learn a base language, etc. What isn't to like?

Dislike

Data Management
Boring, too easy, and have a bad teacher. I'm not a strong math student, I understood the concepts. Did the homework. Couldn't do the application assignments. Bombed. Even if I got a 90 I still would've hated this course.

- Canadian History - Very easy, and the teachers great. We seem to talk about Germany and the US more than canada tho (even tho were done WW2)

- Science - Easy. And I like chemistry because we use magnesium(sp?) and burn all sorts of stuff...

- Math - NOT High school math tho. When I was in grade 8 it was awesome, but in high school you have to find the answer a certain way, and thats not how I do it

- Computers - We learned all sorts of stuff. Not any C, mainly javascript and HTML. My teacher acted like he knew everything, but could rarly correctly answer students questions.

Hate:

- English - English sucks. I can't spell well (as you can tell from my posts) and reading is boring. I do good in the class, but it still sucks. My grammar sucks too.

- Civics - Hate the teacher. Boring class too.

- Gym - Im not athletic. I still do good tho.

- Religion - uh, SO boring.

On the subject of computing curriculum -- you got to learn more programming than I did, and it looks like a lot of people in this thread did too.

HTML was the only thing even *close* to a programming language (and it's not a programming language) that they taught at my school -- and they don't even teach that much now.

I don't know if it's something with schools here, but we just don't teach programming at a high school level.

We did get to learn Word, Excel, Access... And yeah, there were plenty of teachers who act like they know everything, but don't..... I know for a fact that many of the students know far more than most of the teachers -- I think the curriculum is limited for the TEACHERS benefit, not for the STUDENTS benefit...

Reminds me of my E-Commerce and Web Design class (high school) where I busted out some css and javascript. First the teacher was in awe (the class wasn't even learning to make tables colored and such in the shitty way, just learning shitty ass default table settings) Then she just left me alone for the rest of the semester (i think about two months) while I browsed the internet.

Now to my likes and dislikes.

Likes:

AP Calc:

Teacher is in love with me. I do little to no homework. Get A's on test and quizzes. It's all good.

Physics:

See Calc.

Advanced AutoCAD Drafting:

Just a fun class to draw crap in. Using AutoDesk Inventor to build and animate 3D models of engines and the like. No homework. Just 45 min of messing on the computer.,

Dislikes:

English:

sucks. as does my english... ha

No me gusta la clase de espanol.

Art Class:

It's my passion, 'nuff said.
---
History Class:

I hate history usually, but my teacher ROCKS, we barely get any homework, and the thing I love about my teacher is that she's pretty damn funny and picks on people in class, it's hilarious.
---
Gym:

Easy as hell.
---
Biology:
---
Pretty easy course, and my teacher in this class is pretty fun.
---
***Dislikes***

Algebra II:

It's easy, but it's really annoying, we use that Cognitive Learning bullcrap which is math on computers, and the problems it gives us just repeats over and over and it's boring as hell...
---
English/Literature:

I like reading and all that, but I hate the books they make us read, there's this one book last semester we had to read about some pot-head moron (literally) who doesn't understand the minimum-wage workforce and goes and works there and all she does is bitch on how horrible it is, she is also very racist and someone needs to run over her.

The only classes that I really liked, and did great in, were Drama, Photo, and any history class (especially if I had to write anything for the class). I didn't mind my P.E. class either, I had fun in it, mainly while in middle school.

But above all else, I hate any and all type of math class.

Ooooh... I really liked Drama class because at times it could feel like a free period if there was nothing to do/we were ahead of schedule. Geography and English would be winners too.

Dislikes... well, take your pick. French, Gym or any science class after Grade 9 (so basically Physical Science and Chemistry).

I've been out of school for a while, so I'll just list some memorable college courses.

Favorites

Advanced German - I took two challenging high-level undergrad German classes with the same professor: grammar and composition and a medieval literature class that was taught in German at the prof's house. I learned a ton and did very well in both of them.

Computer Graphics - Best. Comp sci elective. Ever. The prof was teh r0x0r and we learned quite a lot about general graphics programming and OpenGL. I made a terrarium where amoebae ate burgers and rocket-powered sporks chased them around. (And no, I was not under the influence of anything illegal when I came up with that idea. )

Math - I love higher math. I aced the two basic calculus classes and multivariate calculus as required by my curriculum, and I also took differential equations as an elective because I wanted to understand how they worked. Rando still thinks I'm nuts for doing that. It was taught (very well) by an awesome friend of ours who was at the time studying for his Ph.D in math.

Most disliked

Operating systems - The prof wasn't bad, but the class involved learning a fuckassload of brand new material that I'm not very good at dealing with. You need to get a C in this class to graduate, and it wasn't uncommon for people to have to retake it once or twice. I was happy to get a C+ on my first try.

Hardware-related stuff - I did OK in these classes (I at least got B's), but I found the material boring, and of course I've long since forgotten it. I am much more into programming and algorithms than hardware engineering.

I loved turing. I tried to steal it from class one day on a floppy, but when I got it home it said something about school regestration, and me not being able to use it here. We did have to make a race car program with "if" functions and all that stuff. Fun stuff.

Mainly all we did in that class was those aweful TYPING TESTS(!!!!!). God I hated those... and worked on word, excel, frontpage, mainly Microsoft Office. We had to create a web page, and do a project on what the advantages/disadvantages of file sharing was. Easy class...and we got to listen to music if we brought in CD's (we played them on the computer).

Oh, and geography was fun. My teacher was a bit of a pervert (to the girls), but other than that he was cool. I still hate french even tho I got a 97 in that class. It was boring.

So, you just dislike the teacher then?

Or do you actually dislike the class / subject matter / what you do in the class?

There's a difference.

I like French, but I had a French Teacher that I hated. She gave us senseless busywork to do all term, and I couldn't be bothered doing it. But I still enjoyed French
