Gavin, you didn't have to deal with something that has had to be done for 2 years. We had to clean up this goddamned place. Hiryuu decided to be the one that took charge. We held committee, and opened it up to regular users. Be damned if any other board you know will do that.

Hmm...only real issue I had is why HSD got demoted...and not so much an issue, I was just wondering why She was one of the best mods, in my honest opinion..but whatever. I'll live with the changes...surprisingly, unlike some, my life hasn't ended because so and so got demoted/promoted etc. But that's just good ol' Keitaro talking out of his ass again

no i didn't, for the main reason that A) i am not a staff member and B) i didn't make the problem in the first place. Keep this in mind:

1) Being on staff means you take on extra responsiblity, so i apologize if i don't pat people on the back for doing their job.

2) The existing staff promotes and demotes people, no? So the existing staff would then be the sole entity responsible for the "mess" of staff that had until recently existed, yes?

Not exactly. If we said that was true, then Ace himself should be deadminned and this forum not his own.

Look, case in point, we can't please everyone. We're trying to get what we can from the majority of people's opinions that we're getting. Sorry if you seem to be a tenth of the people whose thoughts are neglected or not met but we're trying to do as much as we possibly can, but we can't do a perfect staff. That just doesn't exist. What we're trying to do is make it easier, make it better, make it work...and if a few normal members become staff or a few veterans lose their spot on the staff, so be it. We're trying to do this for the good of the board, not to make it any worse. I think that's the basic point we're trying to get across.

Also, keep in mind that anything that goes on here now is still considered temporary. None of this is set in stone. If something goes wrong with some of these changes or we want to put a few people back to the way they were, we will. This isn't done yet.

Am I the only one who finds Yiffy Kitten's concept of "Senior Admins" to be a little unnerving? I see approximately where he's coming from with this, but most of his argument seems to me to be "I should stay on staff because I've been on staff a long time, and since few people have been on staff longer than me there's nothing they can do about it." This seems to me to be circular logic. Nor do I agree with his complaint about being promoted by someone he perceives to be on a lower level than him--to me, the admins on this board are just that--admins. There's no "senior" or "junior" or "toddler" or whatever other arbitrary divisions have been created...particularly if said admins have been contributing more than he has recently, I see no problems with the demotion. Really, the only solid ground he has that I see is that he wasn't given notice of this staff meeting--but actually getting the entirety of the (former) staff together would have taken forever, and given his recent participation level, I have to wonder if it would have helped anyway.

Emptyeye: As long as it may have taken to get the entire staff together, it's what should have been done. The government doesn't pass laws when only half the congress is in session.

Whose law? Aha.

"There is a tradition in many Usenet newsgroups that once such a comparison is made, the thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. In addition, whoever points out that Godwin's law applies to the thread is also considered to have "lost" the battle, as it is considered poor form to invoke the law explicitly."

*Smacks both Alexa and Trapster* Cut it out, you two. You're arguing over nothing.

Any problems I have with this staff change are vague ones like Rydian's demotion and HSD. As for the rest, it looks fine. A lot less admins, and admins I feel are careful and reasonable and active, rather than some who I found worrying in their behavior.

If someone is so upset that they lost power, then you have to wonder... Why are they here in the first place? Or in the case of inactivity, why do they care now? If the loss of power means they want to leave, then power is all they wanted and the status of normal user is somehow 'below' them. This is a message board, for talking with other people, not to get a kick out of having power over others.

And for those who are inactive, then why do they care if they don't come here?

The only thing I'm worried about is who is going to be made into staff members and who isn't. Too many staff is not a good thing.

Obviously, we'd have to keep those who only stay around for the power for it to be a successful reconstruction. It took losing your power for you to post more than 0.09 posts per day. (11 posts, four months.)

Let it go. Your excuse wasn't valid (I've been here for four years, therefore I AM INVEEENCEBEL), you got dropped because you were too inactive (and we've already stated that Rydain will most likely get promoted again) and you're sour about it. Either earn your place again, get used to being a regular user, or get out.

Saying that Senior Admins is a stupid concept is the same as saying co-owner is a stupid concept. Therefore we should demote Emuz for inactivity.
