i wasn't planning to make such a... shall we say... depressing... thread for the first of my return, but I feel that I need to share what I'm feeling with a bunch of people who don't know me.

The day-to-day routine of my life is killing me. I wake up. I brush my teeth. I get dressed. I go take the train to school. I go to class. I take the train home. I go to work. I come home. I hang out online or do work. I go to sleep. I wake up the next morning. It continues. My friends live at school... I commute... because my parents are fucking bitches.

I haven't had a girlfriend since I got dumped at the beginning of September. 7-month relationship. My life is... a dead end. I've moved into this state where I don't express emotion to anyone, don't let even my friends know that I'm the unhappiest person that they know. Nothing in my life interests me.. nothing excites me. I've started drinking to make myself feel better, but I don't even have any more alcohol.

I don't know what you guys can offer me in the way of help or advice... but I need... something.

I can't say Ive experienced fully the day-to-day onslaught of work, school, work, school, little time to relax, etc. etc... but I have experienced the pains of drink, and it is vital you don't get into it. Its good that you don't have any alcohol, since to keep on drinking and drinking is borderline alcoholism and that is hole you do not want to get into. I understand you want something to escape with and to let your frustrations slide but alcohol is definately not the best of choices. I am sure someone here with more...experience of these matters can help but just don't drink, it does so much more long-term damage than short-term good.

Telling anyone about it is always a good thing to start off on, so it's good that you've told us at least. Holding your emotions inside you isn't going to do any good in the long run.

If you can find out what the source of how you're feeling is, and by the sounds of what you said, it almost seems like pure boredom, then the sooner the better. If it is because you're bored, find something new to do during the day. New, as in something you've never done before.

It might be worth it to tell your friends how you feel I'm not saying that any advice we give you, or you find elsewhere on the internet is useless, but if you have someone that knows cares for you, and tell them how you're feeling, it could potentially do a lot more.

Unlike Mr. F-Zero, I haven't experienced drinking, and I don't think I will, but in your case, it's good that you ran out of alcohol. It may have seemed like an escape to make yourself feel better for a while, but you're just digging a deeper hole for yourself that way.

If I was only able to give you one bit of advice, I'd say to not give up on life. Anyone and everyone will eventually / has been through what you're in right now, so don't think you're the only one that feels this way.

Don't worry, I'm not suicidal.

It's not that I work much, really. I'm pretty much a slacker... I hate work too much to really engage in it. I'm just... not interested... in anything. I enjoy spending time with my friends, but thanks to commuting to school, I don't get to do that much. It just all really sucks.

Well how about begging your parents to let you stay at the school like your friends get to do? Or just keep asking them about it? *shrugs* That's all I can think of.

You've got to be interested in some things. Maybe you could take som kind of test to find your interests.

What he meant was, like an aptitude test. You know, the kind that tells you what kind of jobs you might be good at. Even if you're not interested in the job aspect, it might remind you of some things you like to do. I'm sure you could find one for free online somewhere.

Hmm... I feel like I'm in your boat a bit. It comes and goes for me.

I work full time, I come home and do housework and cooking and the cleanup afterwards, I visit the forum, but I don't really seem to do much that that interests me. I loathe the bus ride home from work -- for some reason that ride is more painful than the one to work. I think it's because of the realisation that I'm not really coming home to much. That and the commuting itself takes so farking long that it eats up perfectly good time when I COULD be doing things!

I have a partner, but I don't see him much. He works, pretty well to the point of obsession. I've taken to buying bottles of Baileys' before I go home, and having a drink or two of an evening.

I wish I could recommend something though to make you feel better -- but if I could, I'd use the same advice to make my own life feel a little less empty.

I have noticed that when I try to take an interest in other stuff, that helps a bit, so I tend to now go to the anime/manga merchandise store a bit, so I can chat with the people there and see if there's any manga I want to buy. That keeps me amused for a little while, and I get along well with the people in the store. I've been considering finding out if there's an anime club or something I should join, for something to involve myself in -- but I'm too.... lazy.

Maybe find something like that you'd like to do? But yes, I know what you mean, I think I'm in the same boat....

I buy things too, I get a bit of a buzz from it.

It only lasts as long as it takes me to watch the movie or read the manga......or whatever.

Stuff is good, but it will only last you so long before you get sick of it and need something else. Try starting some kind of project. Something you can work on over a long period of time.

For example, I felt the same way over the summer when most of my time was spent either at work or sleeping. But then I started writing, working on an anime music video, and teaching myself Japanese. Surprisingly, it helped a lot.

Are you in any clubs at school? Try to find random stuff you've never done before and try them. You might find something you really enjoy.

Then you'll have to be at peace with yourself internally. Just so you know, I'm going through a lot of that same shit right now (just to different extremes and moderates).

First off, what the hell? Live at school. I.E college or a private school? It would also happen to be helpful if I knew which country this is.

Work is life, I've been working since I was fourteen, trust me bud, it ain't fun. It is reality that I have to face. You know how I get around the boring world of the grindstone? Rather than go online (some nights ) I just go and sit down with a book and read, or I'll settle on my fat Catholic ass and meditate for an hour or two.

"I haven't had a girlfriend since I got dumped at the beginning of September. 7-month relationship. My life is... a dead end. Alcohol is too damaging and a depressent. If you live where it is available, go onto an anti-depressant called celexa for a year and then wean yourself off with help from a doctor. It really does help. As for the girl problem. I was in an awesome relationship for 5 months before the bitch cheated on me, I felt wretched for that. Couldn't do anything about it. That was a year ago, and I'm still getting over it. I don't know how either. But the best thing I can say is to try your best to just forget about them or sully their image in your mind and focus on something better than women.

As am I I once was found rolling around on a busy highway by some friends because "It felt good'.

Ah, wait, when you say private college, is that like Harvard or Stanford or something along those lines?
