I've got a suggestion.

I dunno how many times I've accidently clicked on "Mark all forums read" when I'm supposed to click somewhere else. It's really annoying, since I haven't finished reading everything most of the time. Therefore, I've got two suggestions:

1: Add a Javascript question box. "Are you sure that you want to mark all forums read?" (Maybe optional?)
2: Add an option on the Edit Profile page to remove the link.

Or you could see where the cursor is before you click.

Both of those would inconvinience those of us who actually use the damned thing and not miss.

Not once have I ever missed clicking it (or clicked it accidentally), even with how much I poke the online users link (which is right below it)

The only time I've ever run across a problem like that is when I mean to click the 'Main' link, and I end up hitting 'Logout'. That problem was on my part, as I wasn't making sure my mouse was where I wanted it to be when I clicked

I'm going to have to go with what the other two said as well. Make sure the cursor is where you want it before you click. Both those ideas are alright, but they could both be avoided by taking a quick glance up at the top of the page to see where your cursor is

As long as you are not using 640 x 480 pixels as your resolution, that small link/button might not be that huge target to hit accidently- if I would contribute a suggestion, that might be to increase the button's size (and that would be a joke then - it is fine how it is just now)..
But my Logitech Cordless Optical works great, so I never hit a button not supposed to hit

[blinks]

I dunno what you'd be trying to click though. It's a small target.

Hmm. The only times I've missed anything was when I've attempted to hit Main but instead hit Logout, and that's solved pretty easily by quickly hitting ESC. Here's a suggestion: Ctrl+Mousewheel down. If the font is bigger, it'll be harder to miss something =/

I'd recommend a few rounds of Duck Hunt, then you should be good to go.

In other words, I like it how it is.

But then again, maybe this could be an option for users in profiles? "Allow popup notification for Mark All Forums Read?" etc ...

I'd hate to see this kid in bed... "I accidentally put it in the pooper, they should make a javascript popup making sure you want to put it in the pooper"

Huh, that happened to me twice...

I'm still wating for the "Mark Topic read", you know, other forums do it automatically when you click on a topic so you don't even need to use "Mark Forums read" if you've clicked on all topic (And read them).

Wait, I haven't suggested that yet :o

Jesper said something about this. It sounds like he's planning on doing this in that manner (threads are no longer 'new' when you read them). Also, something about going to the first new post.

And to be honest, I would hate that. Sometimes I feel like checking out the thread without marking it as read. Hell, that's how I have been doing on the board lately...

As of now, you don't mark the forum threads read, but actually just set a date when you marked the forum read. Posts after that date are "new".

And you can with Firefox make it ignore the "Mark all forums read" link, but don't ask me how.

Like everyone else said. Smallhacker: Learn how to find your target. Slowly, move the cursor to the "mark all forums read" link, then click on the left mouse button. It's not that hard. If you still can't make it, just remember which topics you have and haven't read. I rarely use "mark all forums read", I'm too lazy to remember that, rather than remembering which threads I have read.

Yes I did, and personally, I think clicking "yes" on the question box every time would be kinda annoying, just because only you cannot hit the mouse button at the right place. It's not up to me though...

I didn't mean it with offense, I was just joking.
