It'd have to be Glitzville because of all the unique monsters that you can fight there. I'd pick the moon, but the gravity really gets on my nerves sometimes.

Why is The Moon... I mean... Anyway... I'd probably go to Petal Meadows. It's the only one that's not really... Obviously evil. |

I like Twilight Town. The color scheme rox. It looks especially cartoony too. And the birds are hilarious. =D

I voted for all of the above, too. How come nobody's voting for Poshley Heights? (edited by Peardian on 01-25-05 12:18 PM) |

Poshley Heights itself is kinda boring. The manor is cool, and the train ride rocks. And some interesting encounters go on in Poshley. But the environment itself is just flat and green with some houses. Many of the other locations have a good deal more flavor.

Yeah. True. But it would still be cool to see the train. I love the Excess Express. I think Nintendo should make a special working diecast scale model of the Excess Express. I'd buy that even if it cost more than a Gamecube... or two.

I agree. How is it that six measly areas can encircle the entire moon?

That, or everything is scaled down to size. That reminds me... after I posted this, I began to wonder... How big is everything? I believe the Excess Express holds the key. By calculating the average speed of the train using the sounds of the train in motion, combined with the 48-hour time period used, subtracting refueling time, we can determine the track's length. Using some mathematical whatnot we can use the curves to determine the length from Rogueport to Poshley Heights, and thus creating a key. Said key could be used to determine the distance between any two points, once 3D perspective is taken into consideration... It's possible! Wow. I bet nobody cares... |

You made that sound way more complicated than what is required. The only key required is the size of Mario. Your train calculation would include way too many guesses. Mario is a slightly-overweight Italian male. He's probably not freakishly large or small, so just take the average. The fact that he's made of paper is of no consequence. True, the length of the tracks would still be unknown, but that's only a useful value if you're measuring lengths on the world map. |

Originally posted by Peardian I have a small intrest in size comparisions, but I don't know if they took things like that into account when making things like the map, an in game excuse could be that it's an old map focusing more on the basic regions and not proper sizes and such, I can't remember if a more detailed map is used for a map screen or if the magical map was used. Also, if any characters are used for location size esitmates, like guessing how many Marios it would take to make a mile, take into account how characters change sizes in different games sometimes, a large example being Bowser, sometimes he's 4 times Mario's size, sometimes he's 50, some times he's twice the size, and in this I am thinking two or two and a half, however, if you take that into account, and also find out how some characters comapre to, let's say, Super Mario Sunshine, we could find out how much the changes are in general for characters, and then find out things about how far track parts are apart and we could eventually have an entire size system for this game, as well as the original, and possibly Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario 64 and, well, many Mario games! |

I am measuring lengths on the world map. I'm a cartographer. I like maps. Isle Delfino has always interested me in the fact it's small enough to see from one end to the other with no aid. Plus, the airplane's map shows coordinates and stuff. I wanna visit that jellyfish island! Ahem. Anyway, why does Excess Express look bigger inside than out? Or is it just me? |

Actually, the houses have to be the same size because they're all part of the same room. Also, I just made a little map of Rogueport that is about 168x252. For the Excess Express, I'll just use the outside. |
