I've recently gotten wind of a rising peer to peer sharing program by the name of "Ares". I'm thinknig about getting it.

From what I've seen, it's essentially the same as Kazaa without the ads, possible expenses, and unnecessary bull. And although I'm not certain of this, it seems as if it's running on its own separate network, independant of any preexisting P2P networks.

Does anyone here know anything more about the program? I'm really starting to feel like Kazaa's passed its prime, and this looks to be a promising alternative.

I used the lite version of it, and it's alright. Definitely better than Kazaa The download speeds are very good compared to other P2P programs I've used, but I found it slowed my computer down a lot That may have only been on this computer though, so you'd have to give it a try to see if it slows things down for you. I don't have any P2P programs installed on this computer now, because I prefer to use Bittorrent, or nothing at all

It's been a while now since I tried it, but I don't think there was any spyware (in the lite version at least). It depends on whether you want to use it or not, but if you're trying to choose between Kazaa or Ares, go with Ares

Thanks, Karadur!

I have since gotten Ares Lite, and I'm amazed. I remember a time long ago when Kazaa was in its prime, and I'm thinking this might actually be working better than that.

It's a smooth program, very fast, and I'm finding that it doesn't eat too much memory. Or rather, it eats less than my version of K++, which completely devours my RAM.

It's got a healthy heap of files that are impossible to find, and so far I haven't seen even one of those thirteen-minute long, silent mp3s I hate so much.

Hmm. I was going to say more, but it occurs to me now that the board standards may look down on sharing information on potentially illegal activities, so I'll end it here.

I highly recommend this program.

DC++ > *.

I really like its hub oriented p2p style, and I'm on 3 private hubs, so hah.
